💎 Meet Ruby: CEO of Taking Things Slowly 💎Ruby is not the kind of girl who falls in love on the first date. She prefers a background check, three references, and a respectful amount of personal space. But once Ruby decides you’re her person? Congratulations—you have been promoted to Most Important Human in the World. ❤️Ruby is a sensitive girl who can feel overwhelmed by busy environments. She is scared around small children and is looking for a calm, patient home where she can be the only pet. Think peaceful evenings, predictable routines, and a household that understands trust is earned—not rushed. She may need a little extra time to settle in, but when Ruby feels safe, she is sweet, devoted, and truly an angel.Ruby isn’t looking for a perfect person. She’s looking for someone patient, consistent, and willing to let her bloom at her own pace. The best things in life take time—and Ruby is absolutely worth it. 🐾Think you might be Ruby’s person? Apply through DeKalb Humane Society. An adoption application can be filled out on the DHS website https://www.dekalbhumanesociety.org/adopt. Story
Hey, hey, hey! My name is Miles, and I’m a 7-year-old Boxer mix with lots of energy and even more love to give!I’m not the biggest fan of most other animals, but that’s only because I think there’s more than enough of me to keep my family entertained! I’d be happiest soaking up all of your love and attention.I’m great with kids 12 and older. Sometimes I get the zoomies and forget just how big I am, so I could accidentally knock over smaller kiddos—even though I’d never mean to!I do pull a little on the leash, especially if I spot a squirrel, but I’m a smart, lovable guy who just gets excited about the world around me. After I’ve burned off some energy, I’m more than happy to relax, soak up attention, and earn a few treats (my favorite part of the day!).I’ve been waiting at the shelter for over a year, and I’m more than ready to find a family to call my own. If you’re looking for a goofy, affectionate best friend, please come meet me! I can’t wait to finally go home. ❤️

Story
Meet Puma 🐾💕 — a sweet boy with a gentle heart and a personality that takes a little time to bloom. Puma may not be the first one to rush up and introduce himself, and that’s okay! He just needs a little patience and some time to figure out that he’s safe and loved. Once he starts to feel comfortable, you’ll get to see the sweet, loving boy hiding behind that initial shyness. 🥹 Puma is the kind of boy who reminds us that the best relationships aren’t always instant. Sometimes, the most special bonds are the ones you build slowly, one little moment of trust at a time. Give him some patience, a calm environment, and plenty of kindness, and he’ll reward you with the sweetest companionship. He’s looking for someone who understands that warming up takes time and is willing to let him come out of his shell at his own pace. If you’re willing to give Puma the time he needs, he just might become your very best friend. ❤️🐾 Dogs: Must meet all pups in the home! Cats: Unknown Kids: Must meet all family members!

Story
Meet Pete 👨‍🦳Good ol’ Petey here is an estimated 8 year old boxer mix. He’s an older boy, but he doesn’t let that slow him down (too much). Pete still gets some “zoomies”, or at least his version of it. He’s not the fastest or the strongest boy around, but he still likes to be at least a little active. So long as he gets some space to prance around and some toys to play with, he’s a happy guy. He’s a well mannered boy who tends to keep his kennel clean. As much as he likes to play, he doesn’t tend to chew or be destructive with any of the blankets or dog beds he is given. He’s also a very gentle boy who gets along with everyone he’s met. He can be a little intimidating to other dogs at first, but he gets along with them well. He tends to want to chase cats (well, his version of “chasing”) but he is never mean or aggressive towards them. Thanks to his believed breed combination, Pete has quite sensitive skin and is prone to breakouts. We believe it to be linked to allergies, however, due to the limited resources that we have available to us, we are unable to narrow it down as to what exactly it is that he is allergic to. While he might not be the most high maintenance in terms of energy, it will likely take a bit of trial and error, and well as an established vet, to help narrow down what specifically has been causing his skin issues. We have him on a limited diet and have been giving him special bathing treatments to help, and have had quite an improvement with just that so far. Above everything though, Pete is a goofy, loyal snugglebug at heart. His desires are simple: a home to call his own and a person to snuggle up with at the end of the day. If you’re looking to add an older, certified Good Boy into your life, and don’t mind a bit of maintenance with his skin, Pete might just be the perfect fit for you.🐾
