Story
Meet Myles - the misunderstood softie with a heart worth fighting for. 3.5 years-old Boxer/American Pitbull Terrier Mix 52 lbs Myles had a rough start to life. He's a bit shy, but once you get to know him, he's a sweet and gentle soul. Due to a history of abuse and instability, new people can be scary for him. He'll need a patient, experienced adopter who can give him the space, structure, and trust he needs to thrive. But don't let his cautious nature fool you! Once he lets his guard down, Myles is as gentle, loyal, and affectionate as they come.   He arrived underweight and suffering from flea dermatitis, but he's on the mend and already looking healthier and happier each day. He gets along well with cats and other dogs and would do best in a calm, adult-only home where he can settle in at his own pace. His previous owners says he's house trained, good with other dogs and cats, and loves to cuddle on the couch!   If you believe in second chances, apply to meet Myles today!   Neutered, current on vaccines and on monthly prevention. Adopt fee is $100.   If you are interested in meeting and adopting, please submit an application here: https://www.fultoncoanimalcenter.org/application-to-adopt-a-dog Once submitted our staff will review and then contact you to set up a meet and greet! If it's a match, you can take home on the same day. Any other dogs in the home must come in for a meet & greet! We do offer a 2 week foster to adopt trial time, to be sure the chosen pet is a good fit, before finalizing the adoption!    Closed Sunday/Thursday    11-4 Saturday/Monday   11-5 Tuesday/Friday    11-6 Wednesday ##2402396##

Story
Just one look at this guy and you can't help but wonder why he was given the name Chicken? We do not have a clue. He is a senior guy looking for a home to spend out the later years of his life with all the comforts that a loving home will provide. Chicken still has a good amount of energy, but at the end of the day, he would simply prefer to curl up in your favorite chair, if you will let him, or a plush dog bed. He would do best with older children and a quieter lifestyle since that is what he had in his prior home. Come meet this guy and check out his big soulful eyes. They do not come more irresistible than our Poppy! She will surely pop her way right into your heart. She is young, vibrant, and ready to go to her new home. This boxer mix is working on her basic obedience skills and doggie manners. She has met some dog friends, but tends to be very dog selective. Due to her energy and enthusiasm Poppy would do better with older children only 12+, and a secure fenced yard.DOB 11/10/23 40 Pounds and GrowingI'm waiting for a home to call my own. email webmaster@petrefuge.com to learn more about me or fill out an application at https://www.petrefuge.com/adoptPet Refuge was formed in 1978 to help with cats and dogs in need of homes. Hi, I’m Lola! I’m a sweet, goofy girl. I can take a bit to warm up to someone new, but once I do, I will greet you with a piggy snort. I would love a home with no cats, dogs, or small children. A home with a yard would be fun as well! I love to run around and play. I would benefit from attending a class or private session from one of our recommended trainers, such as A Canine Story, to continue setting me up for success. I really can't wait to find her forever home and make new memories! Story
Meet Sonnie!  He is senior guy at 8.5 years old, weighs in at 73# and is an American Pitbull Terrier mix. Sonnie is a CHAMP at outings! Well behaved, social and loves ALL the attention he can possibly get!!   Sonnie came to us after a change in his owners life circumstance. He was a very loved guy and it shows! Sonnie is gentle and loving!   He suffers from seasonal/food allergies and benefits greatly from having bi-monthly Cytopoint injections to keep them under control. Sonnie cannot have chicken/turkey based dog foods, as it causes him digestive upset, ear infections and skin issues! (He is not a fan of taking pills, so the easiest thing for him is an injection every 8 weeks!)   Sonnie would benefit greatly from losing some weight, as his current weight is too much for his frame. He enjoys going on walks and spending time outside, which will be beneficial to helping Sonnie shed that extra weight he's carrying around!   Sonnie will make a great addition to any family, as he loves everyone! Sonnie does good with other dogs as long as proper introductions are made. He loves children!! Sonnie thinks its great fun to chase kitties, so probably best there are not any in his new home.   Sonnie was recommended to get a dental cleaning within a year. We have a lower cost option vet to refer you to, if you are local!   Neutered, microchipped, current on vaccines and on monthly prevention. His adoption fee has been sponsored in memory of Tanner Virgil.   If you are interested in meeting and adopting, please submit an application here: https://www.fultoncoanimalcenter.org/application-to-adopt-a-dog Once submitted our staff will review and then contact you to set up a meet and greet! Story
This 2-3-year-old American Pit Bull Terrier mix isn’t just unique, he’s one in over 20,000.   Found as a stray, feral and terrified, it took patience and a live trap to bring him to safety. When he arrived at our shelter, he was silent. No growls, no barks, not a single sign of aggression. Just a trembling shadow of a dog.   During his neuter surgery, we discovered Miles is a rare hermaphrodite, possessing both male and female reproductive organs, along with monorchidism (only one descended testicle). His case is so unique that only a handful of dogs in the world share it. Yet it was his spirit, not his anatomy, that captured our hearts.   Miles wasn’t food motivated, making it nearly impossible to gain his trust. One staff member spent countless hours sitting quietly by his side, offering every tempting treat imaginable, but nothing worked until a McDonald’s cheeseburger finally won him over! Slowly, meal by meal, that cheeseburger became a symbol of connection, a bridge of hope.   Then came a breakthrough... introducing him to another dog. For the first time, we saw Miles wag his tail, play, and act like a normal dog. It was a moment of pure magic, proof that love, patience, and connection can heal even the deepest wounds.   Here’s how we’re making it special: Miles’s adoption fee is fully sponsored for the entire month of June in honor of Pride Month. His approved adopter will also receive a custom portrait of Miles — a beautiful tribute to this extraordinary dog who’s waiting to brighten your world.   Miles may be shy at first, but once you earn his trust, he’s as sweet as they come. His story is a powerful reminder that love knows no labels, no boundaries — and that every soul deserves to be seen, celebrated, and cherished for who they are. Are you ready to give Miles the forever home he’s been waiting for?   Neutered, current on vaccines and on monthly prevention. Story
Are you looking for your very own Canine House Hippo?!   Look no further! We have him right here at FCAC! Being in a kennel is stressing him out!!  Snorer?! Snuggler?! Stealer of the blankets?! Couch potato?!  He is a handsome, squishy faced boy!! Meet Loki! 2.5 years old | 73 lbs | American Bully/Pitbull Mix Loki is a loyal, block-headed sweetheart who has stolen the hearts of everyone here at FCAC! He abolutely adores women and children. Gentle, affectionate, and full of personality, Loki bonds deeply with the people he trusts. He came to us from a domestic abuse situation, where he bravely protected his mom. Now he carries that same protector heart for women and children, and is very cautious around men.  He's looking for a women-led household or a with a patient and respectful man is willing to earn his trust. Loki prefers to be the one and only pet. he's not a fan of other animals in his space, and we recommend he be the solo star of his new home. This handsome hunk needs to slim down to around 60 lbs for his health. But don't worry, he's up for the challenge with the right mix of exercise, playtime, and portion control.  Loki does best on a salmon-based diet, as poultry (chicken/turkey) upsets his tummy. Despite his rough past, Loki is a gentle soul who is looking for a peaceful place to retire from stress and be someone's loyal best friend.   Neutered, heartworm  negative, current on vaccines and on monthly prevention.
