Story
** Foster-to-adopt eligible**Meet Maggie May, Maggie May is an energetic and affectionate girl who asks to be the only four legged animal for her people to fawn over. She loves the car, going for walks and meeting new friends. She is looking for a home with people 15 and up because she can show her excitement with her mouth at times and this girl has a passion for life. In her previous home, she had an accident that has left her with some mobility issues. When we say issues, we don`t mean that she can`t move; she is just as busy as when she was a young dog, but the way she moves just looks different now. We are treating her for discomfort surrounding her previous injury with joint supplements and a medication called carprofen which our vet recommends that she continue after adoption. If you are interested in meeting Maggie May, please stop by for some snuggles and butt wiggles.

Story
My name is Walt! I’m very outgoing and love people. I need some help with my manners as I’m very bouncy but I can learn quickly! I’ve been through a lot in my life so I need the right introductions to other dogs. Also I like dogs that are more relaxed, too much energy scares me! I also snort a lot!

Story
I'm Ellie! I love car rides, cuddles on the couch, puzzle toys, chewing bones, playing ball and walks in the woods. I am food motivated which makes it easy to teach me new things! I'm very athletic and can jump fences under 5 ft. I love to play fetch and explore, but when its cold and rainy, I prefer to be inside. I have successfully lived with 3 cats. I am a reserved dog at home, but I wasn't socialized well when I was with my first owner. For two years I got along with my sister Charlie, but now we stress each other out and have to live in separate homes. I am training to not bark at strangers or other dogs on walks. I am good on a leash and as long as other dogs keep their distance, I am happy! I live with my owner's dad in a rural area for now, but his health is declining. I'm very sweet to people, but I need an owner who will keep me as the only dog, has no young kids and has experience with mild-mid reactivity. I want to live in a quiet place as I'm very nervous.

Story
Meet Grace – A Tender Heart Ready to Trust Grace is just beginning to discover what the world can be, and like any shy Valentine, everything still feels a little new—and a little scary. With very limited life experience, she’s searching for a quiet, patient home with adopters who understand under-socialized, fearful dogs and who believe the sweetest love stories are the ones written slowly, at a dog’s own pace. When given time, space, and gentle encouragement, Grace reveals the soft, loving soul underneath. She thrives when she can observe, sniff, and explore without pressure, building confidence one tiny step at a time. A secure fenced yard would help her feel safe as she learns to trust her new life, allowing her to explore without the fear of running away while her bravery continues to grow.Grace has lived with other dogs before, though her history with children and cats is unknown, so thoughtful introductions and patient guidance will be important. Because finding the right match matters so much, the entire family will need to come meet Grace to be sure it’s a true love connection.Beneath her cautious exterior, we know Grace’s goofy, bouncy Boxer spirit is waiting to shine. With calm routines, positive reinforcement, and a family ready to celebrate every small victory, she will blossom into a deeply loving and joyful companion. If you believe in slow, gentle love that grows stronger every day, Grace may be the Valentine your heart has been waiting for.

Story
Chief is a charming and handsome 5 year old with a sweet bully face, a heart full of love, and a personality that wins everyone over, especially the ladies! This loyal guy is all about his people and thrives when included in daily life, whether you're hanging out at home, heading out for a walk, or running errands together. Chief isn’t overly active, but he lives for his daily walks. They’re his favorite part of the day! He makes the perfect walking companion and enjoys strolling around campus with his foster mom, exploring the neighborhood, and visiting local parks. He currently accompanies his foster mom to work, loves morning puppuccino runs, and looks forward to every stroll.  He’s also a great car buddy. He jumps right in with no hesitation, settles quickly in the back seat, and usually lounges out, taking up all the room like a king on his throne. Whether it’s a short trip or a longer ride, Chief’s calm and relaxed nature makes traveling with him a breeze. Chief is crate and potty trained, sleeps soundly through the night in his big dog bed, and listens like a pro when called. Chief knows basic commands like “sit” and “crate” and is actively learning more every day! He’s food and praise motivated, making training a fun bonding experience. He also enjoys enrichment activities and treat puzzles. A stuffed Kong, he considers the ultimate treat. Chief does well living with medium to low energy dogs, including small breeds and seniors. While he’s not one to roughhouse or initiate play with other pups, he’s a respectful housemate and would do well with other easy-going housemates.  Affectionate and friendly, Chief would do best in a home with adults or older kids (teens+), simply because of his size (50lbs) and goofy energy. He’s a great match for someone who wants a devoted companion by their side through thick and thin  and doesn’t mind some snuggles along the way. If you're looking for a loyal companion with a big heart and an even bigger personality,  Chief  could be your perfect match! Chief  is currently being fostered in North Carolina and can be transported along the East Coast as far north as Maine to his adoptive home.  Ready to make  Chief  a part of your life? Story
!!Foster-to-adopt eligible!!Meet Mojo!Mojo is a bright, affectionate, and fun-loving boy who absolutely adores his people. Whether it`s going for a walk, playing with his favorite toys, or cuddling up after a day of adventure, Mojo is all in. He’s smart, eager to learn, and is currently thriving in his foster home where he’s been working hard on his training.Mojo is still learning how to feel calm and confident around other animals. Because he gets easily overstimulated by other dogs and has a higher prey drive, he would do best as the only pet in the home. While Mojo means well and loves everyone, his big energy and enthusiasm can sometimes be a little too much, so we recommend a home with adults or teens (18+) who can help guide him as he continues to grow.Shelter life was stressful for Mojo, but in foster care, he`s made great progress and is blossoming every day. To help keep his routine stable and his progress going strong, meet-and-greets are by appointment only. If you think Mojo might be the right match for you, please contact KVHS to schedule a time to meet this lovable guy.Mojo has so much love to give, and he`s ready to share it with someone who will give him the patient, active, and understanding home he deserves.**Update Mojo has been making huge strides in his foster home and is now at a point where he may be willing to meet some dogs :) **
