Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Quest was surrendered to the shelter on 5/9/2025 due to rental restrictions. He is 4 years old and was a very loved dog who had lived in his home his whole life. His owners were forced to relocate and couldn't find an affordable place that would accept dogs like him. Quest is a mix of boxer, Doberman, and pit bull, and he is big and strong. He has been fully vetted and microchipped. His fee of $150 is fully sponsored. Quest did live with his canine sibling in his home and was fine. They grew up together. We do think that he'd be okay with a mellow female dog of similar size. No smaller animals. He would do best in an adult only home. Teens are okay.  Shelter life has been hard on our Quest and he has lost a significant amount of weight. We've had him completely vet checked and this weight loss is due to the stress of the shelter environment. He would make a very loving and loyal companion. He needs a home! NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing/preventatives, and spayed or neutered.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.February 10, 2026, 11:58 am

Story
Rocco came to us from Up North where he had been living in a homeless encampment and somehow ended up in impound scheduled for euthanasia when one of our partners rescued him. He is the sweetest boxer/pug? mix you will ever want to meet. Born October 2023 he is a lover of all people he meets, but is best if his new home is cat-free. He has been around other dogs, rides perfectly in a vehicle and is simply a joy to know! All pets adopted from the Humane Society of Freeborn County will be spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, testing and will be microchipped. All of this is included in their adoption fee. Fill out an application to adopt at freeborncountyhs.org When transitioning your new pet home please allow for at least 4-6 weeks for your pet to adjust to their new home. They will need this time to decompress, and adjust to a new routine and environment. During that time we will provide check ins and counseling to ensure a successful transition. Please review all basic adoption requirements listed on our website before applying. We take finding the right homes for the animals in our care very seriously. They deserve nothing but the best! Please allow 2-7 days for applications to be processed. If an animal is listed in foster care, these pets are not at our facility, but are in foster care homes. They are still available for adoption, and meet and greets are done with pre-approved applicants only. If you have any questions feel free to send us an email at freeborncohumanesociety@gmail.com, send us a message on Facebook, or call or text 507-377-8501.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please contact Darlene Mannino for more information about this pet.Poppy update!   My name is Poppy. I was returned after 6 years with my last home. I was not so friendly with my foster sisters when I got here. I finally got use to being around other dogs and am learning to be part of a pack. I'm gonna need a strong alpha parent to help me to continue to grow out of my shell. I've never been around other puppers. I'm potty trained and have never had an accident in the house. I like to eat by myself and I may take all day to eat my food. I'm a lovey dove and love to be loved on. I try to be bossy and need reminding that I don't have to be bossy. I will follow you around anywhere you go.   Her DNA test results: 66% Boxer 14% German Shepherd 14% Chow Chow 6% Labrador Retriever  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 11, 2025, 1:21 pm

Story
Meet Penelope 💕 Penelope is an approximately one-year-old Boxer mix who was found wandering the streets of San Antonio, and she’s so ready for her fresh start. This sweet girl has been fully vetted — spayed, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and vaccinated — and now all she needs is a family to call her own. Penelope is on the shy side at first, but she’s blossoming more every single day. Once she feels safe, her affectionate nature shines. She absolutely loves to cuddle and be close to her people. Her favorite place is right next to you — leaning gently against your legs or curled up beside you on the couch. And when she’s around her people? Her tail wags so fast it’s practically a blur. She weighs about 50 pounds, but her short little legs give her the cutest, slightly compact look. She walks nicely on a leash, is crate trained, and is potty trained — such a good girl. Penelope is okay with other dogs, though she can get overwhelmed and nervous in busy situations. She would likely do best in a calm, patient home that will continue building her confidence. She hasn’t shown much reaction to cats so far, though she has recently become interested in outdoor critters, so her full personality in that regard is still unfolding. Penelope is simply happy to be part of a family. After surviving on her own, she treasures being indoors, safe, and loved. With a little patience and reassurance, this gentle girl will reward you with unwavering loyalty, soft cuddles, and the happiest little tail wags you’ve ever seen. Story
Luke is a super chill dude who is looking for a soft place to land. Until recently, his happy days were simple and full of love. He spent his time hanging on the couch with his mom, going for car rides around town, and taking slow strolls through the neighborhood while sniffing every smell along the way. Those were his favorite things. Then one day, his mama went to the hospital and did not come home. She is now in a nursing home, and Luke is understandably sad and confused. His whole world changed overnight. What has not changed is what a good boy he is. Luke is an almost 9 year old, neutered male chocolate Lab Boxer mix who is up to date on his vaccines. He is calm, sensitive, and incredibly in tune with his people. If you are feeling under the weather or just having a hard day, Luke will be right there with you. He has a quiet way of showing up that makes you feel less alone. He does okay with kids but truly prefers a more laidback home. Loud, chaotic environments are not his style. He thrives with calm energy, cozy couches, and people who appreciate a slower pace. He gets along well with other dogs and has even lived peacefully with dogs who do not always play nicely with others. He is not looking for drama. He is looking for companionship. Luke would love a home where he can: • Relax on the couch • Go for easy, sniff filled walks • Ride shotgun on car trips • Maybe share your bed, although that might be negotiable He has already loved deeply once in his life. Now he just needs someone willing to love him again. Adoption fee is $350+tax, please apply at www.campcompanion.org

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Rocky came to the shelter from the city pound when his time was up and no one had claimed him. We do know a little about his history and know that he's around a year old and Rocky is his real name. He's a little shy at first but warms up quickly and is loving and playful. He has been vet checked, neutered, and microchipped and his fee is $150.  Rocky is a young dog who has had a little basic training. He needs a home that can provide him with the exercise he requires. He did live with kids in his previous home. We do think he could do okay with a female dog with proper intros. We have no way of knowing about cats. He really is a honey! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Sasha is an approximately 3 year old pit bull type gal who came to us as an owner surrender due to rental issues. She is compact and muscular, and almost panther like. Sasha is a nice girl who has had some basic training. She has been vet checked and spayed and her fee is $150. Sasha will require regular exercise as she is young, strong, and energetic. We do think she would do okay with a well-mannered MALE dog. She did live with kids, but she would not be a good fit for homes with cats. She enjoys attention and walks. She would prefer a home in which she is not left alone for long hours. She's a gorgeous princess!  NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved.
