Reef is scared of change and for a young pup, he's had a lot of change in his life. This week he got out of his kennel and he was admittedly... Terrified. He kept his tail tightly tucked. However... After only a few minutes outside, a miracle happened. A miracle that the volunteers get to see, time and time again. With just a little kindness and patience, Reef approached not one, but TWO new volunteers. He started to get curious and smell his surroundings... His tail started to untuck. Reef isn't going to be an adventurer... At least not yet. But he will find his people. And until then, we will keep offering him a safe space.

While he may need a little time to come out of his shell, Pugsley is full of love and ready to bond with someone special. He's looking for a peaceful, cat-free (and chicken-free!) home where he can feel safe and secure. With a bit of patience and a lot of love, Pugsley is sure to become a loyal and affectionate companion. As a long term resident, his adoption fee is discounted to $50! DOB 12-17-2020. - Hutch is a very good boy with quite the story. After being adopted, he became well-known when he went missing for over three months before being found skinny and injured. Now safely back with us, Hutch is getting the care he needs, including surgery to repair his leg, and will be looking for a foster home during his recovery and a forever home after. Hutch is great with kids and loves his people, but he will need a home with no cats or other dogs, as he can be particular about his canine friends. He is also a bit of a Houdini escape artist, so a secure setup and attentive family are a must. With the right home, Hutch will be a loyal, loving companion ready to leave his wandering days behind. Hutch just had surgery on his hip and is in a medical foster. Please call the shelter to coordinate meeting his sweet guy!

Jade was found living in the woods of rural Newton County with a group of dogs, likely her littermates. After months of looking out for herself and her pack, she's figured out how to survive. Now she needs someone to teach her how to be a house dog. Jade lives with a large pack currently and generally gets along with most dogs, though she can be bossy and pushy with some, especially other females. She's also vocal and will bark to announce strangers, but she listens and backs off when she's corrected. A meet-and-greet with any resident dogs is required, and she'll do best with someone who can give her consistent structure. Jade is smart and responds to correction, so with a dedicated person and some regular training she should come along quickly. She's still young, with an adorable slight underbite and pretty moo-cow patches, and she has everything she needs to become a spoiled, well-mannered family dog. . 🐾 MEET THE RIVERBED BUNCH! You may have seen these guys posted on Leigh's Lost and Found, they were in a river bed for weeks. Several kind strangers were feeding them with the hopes that someone could step in. As soon as we heard their story, we knew we had to do what we could. Because these dogs were in survival mode, we were thrilled to collaborate with the amazing Brittany Scherff with ERC - Emergency Rescue Consultancy. If you’re not familiar, please go and follow her page and support her. She is skilled to be beyond measure when it comes to lost dog recovery and trapping dogs. Meet Arroyo, Rio, and Laguna, 3 Chihuahua puppies with big names to come with their little bodies. These puppies need urgent foster homes where they can be safe, cared for, and loved These three little boys were not out there alone, and the reason they probably were able to stay alive as they had a protector also in a compact but fierce little body under 20 pounds!! Meet Betty Boop! Betty Boop is a senior little lady with a Frenchie-meets-mini-boxer look and a whole lot of charm. She deserves a medal for keeping these three little boys safe! We’re urgently looking for fosters for all four dogs. You don’t need to adopt to help fostering gives them a safe home while we find the right next step.
