Meet Portia! 🐾❤️ At 5 years old, Portia has perfected the art of being the life of the party! This beautiful Boxer girl doesn't do shy — from the moment she meets you, her whole body is wagging in true Boxer fashion. She is outgoing, confident, and genuinely happy to meet just about everyone she encounters, whether it's a new person at the park or a four-legged friend on the trail. Portia is as smart as she is social. Her mind is always working, and she is the kind of girl who quickly picks up on routines, figures things out, and keeps you on your toes! She'll thrive with a family who enjoys keeping her brain busy with training, games, enrichment, and plenty of opportunities to explore. And when it comes to companionship, Portia is wonderfully well-rounded. She does great with other dogs and is always ready for a fun play session. She's also wonderful with kids, showing patience and a gentle nature even when the household gets a little energetic. One of Portia's best qualities is her ability to match the energy around her — she can be your enthusiastic adventure buddy one minute and your calm, loving companion the next. Portia is the whole package: friendly, intelligent, playful, affectionate, and ready to be someone's devoted best friend. If you're looking for a confident girl with a big personality and an even bigger heart, Portia is ready to meet you! ❤️🐾 Fill out an adoption application here: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/CAST/Dog to schedule a meet and greet with this amazing pup! Story
DOB 12-17-2020. - Hutch is a very good boy with quite the story. After being adopted, he became well-known when he went missing for over three months before being found skinny and injured. Now safely back with us, Hutch is getting the care he needs, including surgery to repair his leg, and will be looking for a foster home during his recovery and a forever home after. Hutch is great with kids and loves his people, but he will need a home with no cats or other dogs, as he can be particular about his canine friends. He is also a bit of a Houdini escape artist, so a secure setup and attentive family are a must. With the right home, Hutch will be a loyal, loving companion ready to leave his wandering days behind. Hutch just had surgery on his hip and is in a medical foster. Please call the shelter to coordinate meeting his sweet guy!

Story
Hi, I'm Romeo! I was brought here as a tiny puppy from a place where I was barely getting fed. I was adopted shortly after and recently got returned due to weird circumstances. I suddenly had two injuries- an eye injury and a leg injury. I have gotten my eye removed and healed just fine. The shelter is still raising funds to get my leg surgery. I'm a sweet, goofy, and well behaved boy! I get along with everyone but I do have a tendacy to chase cats so I might be better in a home without cats.  If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2352756##

Story
I'm Barley, a 60-pound American Pitbull Terrier and a handsome gentleman with four and a half years of handsomeness packed into one big, lovable package. I'm the kind of guy who believes life is best when it is shared with someone you love. Give me a good belly rub, a friendly game of fetch, a walk through the park, or a cozy spot beside you on the couch, and I am one happy boy. My favorite thing in the world is making my people smile. I'm affectionate, fun-loving, and always ready to be part of whatever my humans are doing. Whether we're out enjoying the day or simply relaxing together at home, I want to be right there with you. At 4½ years old, I still have plenty of playful spirit to share. I'm ready to be someone's loyal companion — the dog who is excited to see you when you walk through the door, happy to join you for an adventure, and perfectly content to curl up beside you when the day is done. I'm a big guy with an even bigger heart, and I believe there is nothing better than being someone's best friend. I don't need anything fancy. I just want a family who will appreciate my goofy charm, enjoy my playful personality, and let me spend my days doing what I love most: being with my people. Why should you adopt me? Because everyone deserves a loyal friend, and I promise to be yours. I have so much love to give, and I'm ready to spend the rest of my life making my family smile. Could you be the person I've been waiting for? Fill out a quick “Match Me” form to get pre-approved: [https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/CAST/Dog](https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/CAST/Dog) All C.A.R.E. rescue dogs are vaccinated, heartworm tested, spayed/neutered, and microchipped.
