Story
Jalene is a 3 year and 9 month old Boxer/Bulldog mix weighing 38 pounds. She came to the shelter as a stray so her history is unknown. She was recently adopted and returned due to some jealousy of the other dog in the home. She still does well with other dogs but should be the only dog in the home due to her not wanting to share attention. Jalene is a petite girl with a large personality! She is full of sassiness, cuddles and kisses! She likes to go for walks but pulls, needs leash training and a harness is required to prevent trachea damage. She is very smart and curious. She is quick to learn. She loves treat puzzles and knows commands sit and paw. She is selective with treats and loves stuffed toys. Plays fetch and and enjoys other outdoor toys, lots of energy. She thinks she is a lap dog and wants to be with you all the time. No cats permitted in her new home. Her adoption fee is $150, this includes her spay, heartworm test, vaccines current, deworming, heartworm/flea prevention and micro chipped. Her dog license is also required to be purchased for Sandusky County residents at time of adoption, which is an additional $20.75. Please visit the shelter to meet her, we show dogs Monday through Friday 1pm-4:30pm and Saturday 1pm-3:30pm. Once you have visited the shelter, you are then eligible to submit an adoption application for review. Please note, we do not offer same day adoptions and there is a $10 non-refundable application fee.Come and meet your new best friend today! The Humane Society of Sandusky County is open Monday -Friday 1pm - 5pm and Saturdays from 1pm - 4pm. Also, be sure to check us out on FaceBook!

Story
A few months back we pulled our incredibly scared but sweet, Nova, from the Romulus Animal Shelter. Nova had been spotted in the area and on the run for approx 3 months and was finally able to be trapped. We were able to pull her just a day before her set euthanasia, her time was up. Nova has come a long way, but is still very cautious of people. Add to this poor little lady's somewhat sad story....she is heartworm positive. She bonded at her foster's home with another dog, Sky, and was finally relaxing a little bit. Tragically, Sky passed away suddenly. Her foster mom gives her extra attention and reassures her that everything is okay. Nova is still going through her treatment, so she is looking for a foster/foster to adopt home. The cost of treatment is 100% covered by the rescue. We'd really like to find her a quiet home, possibly with someone retired, where there's not a lot of commotion but there's someone home often that could love on her all day long. She is incredibly scare of change and new environments, but is so sweet and will warm up quickly. Her current foster mom says she's committed to keeping her with her until she finds the perfect home. Is it you?
