Story
A few months back we pulled our incredibly scared but sweet, Nova, from the Romulus Animal Shelter. Nova had been spotted in the area and on the run for approx 3 months and was finally able to be trapped. We were able to pull her just a day before her set euthanasia, her time was up. Nova has come a long way, but is still very cautious of people. Add to this poor little lady's somewhat sad story....she is heartworm positive. She bonded at her foster's home with another dog, Sky, and was finally relaxing a little bit. Tragically, Sky passed away suddenly. Her foster mom gives her extra attention and reassures her that everything is okay. Nova is still going through her treatment, so she is looking for a foster/foster to adopt home. The cost of treatment is 100% covered by the rescue. We'd really like to find her a quiet home, possibly with someone retired, where there's not a lot of commotion but there's someone home often that could love on her all day long. She is incredibly scare of change and new environments, but is so sweet and will warm up quickly. Her current foster mom says she's committed to keeping her with her until she finds the perfect home. Is it you?

Story
Hi, I'm Spencer! Since you're reading this, you're obviously looking for a new best friend- and, hey, so am I!!! I came to FMAR as a stray and my heartworm test was positive. I am so lucky that one of the FMAR volunteers fell in love with me and took me home with her while I was going through my heartworm treatment. I am done with that and am ready to find my forever home.I would love a quiet home with a patient owner who will allow me to come out of my shell at my own pace. I can get overexcited and loud when I see other dogs and cats and sometimes even people that I don't know. I would be happy to be the only pet in your home but if you have a quiet and passive dog, I might feel comfortable with them. I have a lot of love to give! If your have room in your heart and home for me, I'm waiting to meet you!If you would like to meet me, please submit an application for me on our website https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogs. I am neutered, up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, microchipped, and on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. My adoption fee is $250, which covers all of the medical care I have received.*Each dog is different, so each adoption is different. The adoption process may require multiple visits to the shelter before a dog can go home with you. Or they may be ready on the first visit. It depends on the individual dog and the potential adopters. Once we receive your application, the Dog Staff will contact you to discuss meeting our dogs.

Story
Let me tell you my story....My name is Buddy and when I came to FMAR as a stray, you could see my ribs because I was so skinny and my feet were so swollen that I couldn't walk. FMAR has taken wonderful care of me and I've gained some weight and my feet have gotten better. . My bouncy spirit is through the roof!!! I get very excited and sometimes bark a lot. I used to bark at all other dogs but now I'm used to a few. I still haven't played with another dog yet but I might do fine if we have a slow and proper introduction. Right now, I don't know many commands but I'm eager to learn! I'm very food motivated so that will make my training easier. I'm a bundle of endless energy and love to PLAY, PLAY, PLAY! If you would like to meet me, please submit an application for me on our website https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogs. I am neutered, up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. My adoption fee is $250, which helps cover the cost of the medical care I have received.**Each dog is different, so each adoption is different. Story
They call me Exuberant, Handsome and Sweet but you can choose a new name for me when we adopt each other. I don’t care what you call me, as long as you call me. I’m a happy dog who loves people more than anything else in the world. I’m a 4 year old Pitbull Lab (?) mix, with a 22” collar and am very big and strong. The Vet said I weigh 73 pounds. Don’t let that scare you because I am just a mushy ball of love. I like to let everyone know how happy I am to see them by twirling around and wagging my tail as fast as it will go. This is usually when they call me Exuberant. I like to have fun. Because I’m such a good boy, I’m allowed in the house and have good potty manners. I prefer being inside with people at night especially. You can hold the TV remote for us. Since I have a lot of energy and need exercise, your large fenced yard will be well-used. My foster peeps say I need a family, not a job. They know that I’m a quick learner and will be someone’s best dog ever with some training. Because I’m big and young at heart, my new humans should have some experience with dogs and be able to work with someone of my stature. I promise I will try to do everything you ask enthusiastically. Fortunately, my past dog life doesn’t include any physical abuse so I’m not afraid of people or other animals. I don’t like loud booming noises (fireworks or dynamite) or gunfire so I wouldn’t be a good hunting dog. Health wise, I am terrific; up to date on shots and tested negative for heartworms. Recently I was tricked into getting “tutored” and woke up with my bubbles missing. Foster peeps say it means I will get my forever home very soon! Maybe it’s yours! Luke is one of our longer resident dogs and we can't imagine why he's been overlooked. He's a big and strong guy but truly has a heart of gold. He is a friendly dog who generally likes everyone he meets, but he might knock over little ones. Luke might be selective with his dog friends so we recommend setting up a meet and greet before adoption to make sure it's a perfect match.Adoption Fee: $200, includes spay/neuter and all veterinary care as needed. If interested in meeting, please stop in during open hours, Tuesday-Saturday 12-5:00 pm. Story
Rose is one of the prettiest dogs we've ever met! This 2.5 year old Bully mix girl is about as sweet as they come with every person she meets. Rose is energetic, but not too hyper and will likely be a couch potato after a good walk. We recommend bringing the entire family to meet her. Rose will need to be the only pet in the home, but isn't too reactive to other dogs on walks, etc.Adoption Fee: $200, includes his neuter and all veterinary care as needed. If interested in meeting, please stop in during open hours, Tuesday-Saturday 12-5:00 pm.
