Story
Jalene is a 3 year and 4 month old Boxer/Bulldog mix weighing 38 pounds. She came to the shelter as a stray so her history is unknown. She was recently adopted and returned due to some jealousy of the other dog in the home. She still does well with other dogs but should be the only dog in the home due to her not wanting to share attention. Jalene is a petite girl with a large personality! She is full of sassiness, cuddles and kisses! She likes to go for walks but pulls, needs leash training and a harness is required to prevent trachea damage. She is very smart and curious. She is quick to learn. She loves treat puzzles and knows commands sit and paw. She is selective with treats and loves stuffed toys. Plays fetch and and enjoys other outdoor toys, lots of energy. She thinks she is a lap dog and wants to be with you all the time. No cats permitted in her new home. Her adoption fee is $150, this includes her spay, heartworm test, vaccines current, deworming, heartworm/flea prevention and micro chipped. Her dog license is also required to be purchased for Sandusky County residents at time of adoption, which is an additional $20.75. Please visit the shelter to meet her, we show dogs Monday through Friday 1pm-4:30pm and Saturday 1pm-3:30pm. Once you have visited the shelter, you are then eligible to submit an adoption application for review. Please note, we do not offer same day adoptions and there is a $10 non-refundable application fee.Come and meet your new best friend today! The Humane Society of Sandusky County is open Monday -Friday 1pm - 5pm and Saturdays from 1pm - 4pm. Also, be sure to check us out on FaceBook!

Story
Meet Dori I’m Dori and I am a two year old boxer mix. In my foster home are other dogs and I get along with them well. I could also be an only dog, either way is fine with me. I’m crate and house trained. I like all humans big and small. I might be a little shy at first but then warm up, especially if you have treats! I’m a good girl that enjoys cuddles and giving kisses. I’m up to date on vet care, heartworm prevention, and come with a micro chip. Please consider adding me to your family! If interested in meeting this adoptable pup, please fill out an adoption application at toledospetbullproject.com/adoption-application Due to high volume, inquiries made on petfinder and adoptapet will not be answered. Story
Sheeba is in one of our loving foster homes and is available to meet by appointment. Please email Dani if you'd like to meet this sweet girl: DFarinacci@BereaAnimalRescue.com Do you have a soft spot for senior dogs? Look no further than Sheeba! This pretty Boxer mix came to us when sadly, her life long owner could no longer care for her. Sheeba is a quirky little goofball with lots of pep in her step, and you'd never guess this lady is 12 years old! Sheeba is completely housetrained and is perfectly fine to be home without accidents or getting into any other types of trouble for a full workday. Sheeba seems to do great with both dogs and cats, although she would probably do best with animals of a similar laid-back temperament. Her favorite times of the day are breakfast time and dinner time, when she will do her best happy dance for you with a few little whimpers as she impatiently waits for her food bowl to be put down! Possibly due to her age, Sheeba seems to prefer wet food over dry food. Sheeba also loves to go on walks, play fetch with her squeaky toys, chase another doggie friend around the yard, or just roll around in the grass soaking up the sun. While we don't know a lot about Sheeba's history, we do know that she's not a fan of change or new environments, so any potential adopters should be aware that she'll need to be given lots of space and time to decompress and learn to trust both her surroundings and the new people in her life. For that reason, we are recommending a quiet home without a lot of activity or any interaction with children that cannot be trusted to respect her boundaries. You see, Sheeba really only likes to be touched on her own terms. On the one hand, she absolutely loves a good belly rub from a trusted human. On the other, she will put her guard up when poked and prodded, so needless to say, vet visits can be a challenge but are manageable. Sheeba can be easily alarmed by unexpected loud noises - for instance dropping a book on the floor will send her running over to inspect with her little low growl, but she is easily comforted. It seems to be a protective behavior, like she just wants to make sure you're okay. She does okay with fireworks and thunderstorms, though, as long as she's home with her people. She just pops her ears up with a slight look of concern. Sheeba can manage a step or two getting in and out of the house, but it doesn't seem as if she's climbed a full flight of stairs before and we're not about to ask her to start now. A home that is accessible without more than 1-2 stairs at entry is needed for sweet Sheeba. This loving little girl definitely has her quirks but is such a joy to get to know as she lets her guard down. From her happy tippy taps to her funny little flat tail wag... Sheeba is sure to steal your heart in no time! Will you give this golden girl the retirement years she deserves?

Story
Dakota is a recent graduate of our prison training program, where he excelled in learning all his basic obedience commands like sit, down, stay, come, leave, and place. With great leash manners, he's a wonderful walking companion. House-trained and comfortable either in or out of a crate, Dakota is a well-behaved and adaptable companion. Dakota's got plenty of energy and will thrive in a family that can keep up with his training and provide him with lots of mental and physical stimulation. While he gets along with most other dogs, his handler from the prison program suggests that he be the only dog in his new home. Additionally, Dakota's new home should be without cats. Dakota would do best in a home without small children. Sadly, Dakota was surrendered to ARF when his dad passed away, and now he's searching for a loving forever home where he can receive all the care and affection he deserves. If you're ready to welcome a loyal and energetic companion into your life, Dakota might be the perfect match!
