Story
Mika was surrendered to us when her previous family thought she was pregnant. Mika was severely underweight and had a huge abdomen. On exam, we knew right away something wasn't right. She was taken to the vet for x-rays and it turned out she had a tumor the size of a basketball. She required surgery right away and recovered amazingly. Most recently, another tumor started to grow, and after further testing it ended up being Soft Tissue Sarcoma. The kindest thing would be to not pursue another surgery but to find her a palliative home where she can spend the rest of her days. Mika has always been extremely protective of her people and space. With people she knows, she is the most loving and cuddly girl. She is fiercely loyal. To those she doesn't trust she can be extremely aggressive and bite. Mika is in need of a home that can manage this behavior and limit her interactions with strangers. Mika does well with dogs after a slow introduction and would do well living with another dog. Mika does amazing with cats. Mika will need a home without any visiting kids. Mika loves to play in the yard with her dog friends, cuddle on the couch and lounge around. She has amazing house manners, loves car rides and even knows how to give hugs to her people.

Story
Lua / Female / Approximately 2 years old / 35 lbs / Boxer Mix / Good with calm dogs / Good with cats / No children/ Female Only Home / From Mexico / Fostered in Warkworth Lua’s journey began in Mexico. Her mother was found living on a vacant lot tied to a fence, without shelter. She gave birth to four puppies before our rescue partners intervened, cutting her chain and bringing the little family to safety. One of those puppies was Lua, rescued from neglect and now blossoming into a loving, affectionate companion. Lua—now also responding to Buttercup—is a sweet girl with the most expressive eyes. She’s affectionate, playful, and always ready to snuggle. She even thinks she’s a lap dog, curling herself into your lap no matter how awkwardly she has to fit. She loves enrichment, enjoys nose work, and the way to her heart is through dehydrated beef heart (but not fish—she’ll politely turn her nose away). Outdoors, she adores chasing frogs around the yard, nudging their butts to make them hop. With her trusted humans, Lua is loyal, affectionate, and happy to stay close. She can be protective and cautious with new people, preferring to sniff and assess before warming up. Once she’s comfortable, she showers them with love. She can be nervous around men, so a female-only household is best. She’s met respectful teens and has done well, but a kid-free home remains the best fit at this time. Lua has been steadily building confidence in her foster placement with Carmella and Autumn. By her first evening, she went from tail tucked tightly to running toward them with excitement, eventually taking treats gently by hand. To avoid over-attachment, Carmella and Autumn take turns feeding and interacting with her, helping her learn balanced relationships. Lua has also found a special friend—Freedom, a dog from another local rescue. With careful introductions, they began walking together, sharing outdoor time, and recently playing on the deck. They’ve been spotted kissing and even waiting for each other to drink before resuming play. She shows no resource guarding with toys or treats when with Freedom and could thrive in a home with another calm, balanced dog—or as the only dog, provided she continues supervised socialization through dog-walking dates and slow introductions. Lua also does well with cats, respecting their boundaries while showing curiosity. She has moderate energy and enjoys two walks a day. She loves to sniff, explore, and looks to her humans for reassurance when cars or city sounds make her pause. She’s doing well on leash and grows more confident every day. Indoors, she enjoys enrichment activities and is beginning to discover the joy of toys—though she once shredded one happily in her crate, then calmly let her foster clean up the fluff. Lua is crate trained, housetrained (with some adjustment expected in a new home), and learning impulse control through structured training. She sleeps in her crate overnight and settles when left home alone. She’s eager to learn, smart, and thrives on gentle, positive reinforcement. Lua is a loving, sensitive girl who has already come so far. She’s ready for a foster-to-adopt home or an adopter who will give her the time, structure, and affection to continue her journey. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate companion with a big heart and even bigger potential, Lua (Buttercup) could be the perfect fit. Due to Lua's unique circumstances, her fee is sponsored by Fetch + Releash. Prospective adopters must commit to attending training sessions with her post-adoption with a certified R+ dog trainer to ensure a successful transition. Story
Meet Mello and Loca – an inseparable duo with a powerful bond and an even bigger love for life. Believed to be mother and son, Mello (5 years old) and Loca (7 years old) came to us under heartbreaking circumstances. After their owner passed away, they were left alone in their home without food or water. Thankfully, a kind-hearted neighbor stepped in to help, and eventually, they made their way to us. This bonded pair must be adopted together—they’ve been through so much and find comfort in one another's presence. Both have recently been spayed and neutered, and Loca has already had a much-needed dental procedure, with Mello scheduled for his soon. Friendly, affectionate, and full of personality, Mello and Loca are always ready for a new adventure. However, shelter life has been especially hard on Mello. He's been started on anxiety medication to help him cope, and shortly after arriving, he was also diagnosed with allergies. To stay comfortable and itch-free, Mello requires a special diet and regular medicated baths. Mello and Loka are working on their leash manners. They are extremely strong pullers but we are seeing improvement with their training everyday. They are looking for a family with the time to continue their training. What these two need now is a loving home where they can continue their journey together—exploring the world, cuddling up at night, and being cherished for the incredible dogs they are. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving pair to share your heart and home, Mello and Loca are ready to meet you.

Story
This inseparable pair was surrendered to us when their family became homeless. Gunner and Rosie have been together for life and it shows! They get along like two peas in a pod! We usually can find them snuggled up in the same bed. Rosie is deaf and looks to Gunner whenever she needs it. They love to wrestle, eat treats and most importantly CUDDLE! The pair can be nervous when first meeting people but they warm up quickly, for this reason we recommend they go to a home with teens or older. Overall, they get along with dogs with a very controlled introduction. They can be overly excited and reactive on the leash when meeting a new dog. It's important their future family keeps up with their leash and overall training and provides them with lots of exercise. Rosie and Gunner would do amazing with a strong and active caregiver.
