Story
URGENT Rehoming needed! JJ is a boxer/mastiff mix and a big, lovable, teddy bear; about 8-years old. We “inherited” him when he was about 3 when his owner passed away unexpectedly. He has remained at the property where his previous owner lived, with the caretaker making sure he is loved and looked after. The property is now being sold, and JJ needs a new home (the caretaker is unable to keep him). JJ does well with other dogs, cats, and children. He has a loving personality and really is a gentle giant. He would do best with a large area of land to be able to run around. He has been mostly an outside dog but as you can see from his photos, he also does great inside.

Story
Meet Sweet Ruth . Ruth is a 2-year-old, 60-lb Boxer/Black Mouth Cur mix with a gentle heart and an incredibly smart mind. Before rescue, she survived on her own for at least 6 months in an industrial area, skillfully avoiding capture while kind mechanics made sure she had food. That survival intelligence still shines through today. One of our foster moms started tracking her story, and after months and a dramatic rescue at the end of December, Ruth moved into this foster mom's care and has proven to be a polite, fully house-trained houseguest. Even when scared, she has never shown aggression — only quiet caution. She’s shy, observant, and deeply gentle. Ruth reads the room beautifully. When unsure, she gives herself space. She’s still nervous about leashes and handling, but she now allows gentle muzzle scratches and is slowly learning that human touch can feel safe. Watching her begin to enjoy ear scratches and soft affection has been amazing. She’s wonderful with other dogs — playful when invited, calm when not — and happily coexists with dogs both big and small. At home, she’s a quiet shadow, content to lounge nearby while her foster mom works and zooms. Because of her past, Ruth is a high flight-risk dog early on. She needs a patient, committed adopter with a secure fenced yard, experience with fearful dogs, and safety tools like GPS collars and double leashes. Local adoption preferred, but the perfect Northeastern candidate might be worth the trip. Ruth is a sweet, food-motivated, and incredibly smart. With patience and time, she has all the makings of a once-in-a-lifetime companion. Story
There are some things in rescue work that are simply impossible to understand. One of those things is how anyone could throw a big, beautiful black Boxer from a moving truck and drive away.   But that is how Troy’s story began. On a quiet country road, good people working in their yard witnessed the unthinkable. They saw a truck slow down just enough to push this large dog out onto the pavement. He hit the ground on his head, dazed and bleeding, while the truck sped off without a second glance. Confused and hurting, Troy didn’t know who to trust. It took time, patience, and soft reassurance before he would allow those same strangers to help him. When he finally climbed into their backseat, his big, injured head rested in his rescuer’s lap the entire drive — seeking comfort even after such betrayal.   Physically, Troy has healed well. His wounds have closed and his strength has returned. But emotionally, you can still see that he is waiting for someone to prove that he is safe… truly safe… forever. And here is the remarkable part — Troy is an exceptional dog.   He is sweet, obedient, and wonderfully behaved in the home. He does not dig, does not climb fences, and respects his space. He wants structure, kindness, and someone to belong to. While he can coexist with some larger dogs, he would truly flourish as the only dog in the home where he doesn’t have to compete for affection. Cats are not a good match for him. A securely fenced yard would give him the freedom to stretch his legs and enjoy life while feeling protected. Troy doesn’t need pity. He needs commitment. He needs a Boxer lover who understands the loyalty and devotion this breed gives and who is ready to return that devotion tenfold. Someone who will look into his soulful eyes and promise that he will never again be discarded or unwanted. We have helped him start over. Now we are praying the right person will step forward and give him the stable, joyful future he deserves.   If you believe you could be that person for Troy, please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com   ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED. Story
Sweet Ruth is a 2-year-old, 60-lb Boxer mix with a gentle soul and a brilliant mind. Before coming into rescue, Sweet Ruth lived on her own for at least 6 months, skillfully evading capture, multiple trapping attempts, and surviving in an industrial area of town. Fed by kind mechanics and workers, she learned how to stay safe, avoid danger, and always show up for food — and that intelligence still shines through today. After a dramatic capture, Sweet Ruth has been in a foster home, where she’s proven to be a very polite houseguest. She is fully house-trained and, even at her scariest moments, has never shown a hint of aggression — no growling, no raised lips, just fear. Sweet Ruth is shy and deeply cautious with people, but she is sweet, gentle, and incredibly observant. We would not be surprised if Sweet Ruth spent some of her life in someone’s home.  This brainy girl reads the room like a pro. She knows when a human might approach and will quietly skedaddle to keep herself feeling safe. While she’s still very nervous about leashes and handling, she allows most people to gently scratch her muzzle, and she’s learning — slowly but surely — that human touch isn’t such a bad thing. Watching her progress has been incredibly rewarding, especially as she’s started to enjoy ear scratches and soft affection from her foster mom. Sweet Ruth is a great pack dog. She does beautifully with dogs of all sizes and temperaments and enjoys playful wrestling with dogs her size, but doesn’t demand play.  She happily coexists with the resident Chihuahua in her foster home. Sweet Ruth is calm and content indoors and also enjoys a daily visit to the dog park. She’s a quiet presence who’s perfectly happy lounging on a chair, listening to her foster mom’s Zoom calls, and soaking in the safety of home life. At home, Sweet Ruth is her foster mom’s quiet shadow. She sleeps in her room, wiggles with excitement when she comes home, follows her around the dog park — and yet may still hop off her bed and slip away if that same foster mom walks toward her for a pet. With Sweet Ruth, trust is built in tiny, meaningful moments, and every day brings progress. Because of her history, Sweet Ruth is a high flight-risk dog, especially in the early days. She will need a very committed adopter with a securely fenced yard, experience with fearful or flight-risk dogs, and a willingness to use safety tools like GPS collars, double leashes, and secure handling. Strength matters too — this is a 60-lb girl who needs someone confident and prepared. Sweet Ruth has been around children at the dog park and treats them like little adults — with polite, reserved hesitation. She is food-motivated, sweet, and incredibly smart. With patience, structure, and time, she has all the makings of a truly special companion. Sweet Ruth is one of those dogs who, with the right adopter and a few committed months of trust-building, will become a dream dog. Watching her finally relax, feel safe, and just be a dog has been an absolute privilege — and we can’t wait to see her find the forever home she deserves. Local adoption preferred, but the perfect Northeastern candidate might be worth the trip.
