Story
We are hoping 3 strikes, plus a guardian angel, will finally bring Haverly the life he so richly deserves.Strike 1 - Haverly (then Jordan) was adopted out by us in the fall of 2022. He seemingly was living a good life, but then his adopter was transferred to Japan in the fall of 2025.Strike 2 - Haverly's adopter "re-homed" him - something that is absolutely not allowed per our contract. If an adopter can't keep the dog, for whatever reason, the dog comes back to us. But not with Haverly. He was just re-homed.Strike 3 - That person then re-homed Haverly AGAIN. Within just a few months, Haverly lost his first adopter and his second person. And we knew nothing about this. Until Animal Control in Virginia Beach sent an email to us saying Haverly was just picked up as a stray and was at VBACC. We eventually got in touch with the first adopter and were told, sorry, they had no information about who exactly had him before AC found him.We picked up Haverly as soon as we could. He was fed well but we had NO information about his health. He cries a bit but seems to be adjusting to being back at the shelter. He is finding new friends and new routines. And then we realized he had a guardian angel - and we decided a new name is a perfect way for him to never forget who took a chance on him the first time. Chris Haverly was a savior for over 14,000 animals in the SW part of the state. Taking them for spay/neuter, taking them to meet other rescues, getting them out of the area to have a better chance at a new life. He was in an accident recently and passed away.We received many dogs from Chris - and in the fall of 2022, then-Jordan was one of them. So here we go. We are doing all we can to find Haverly his new FOREVER home and we feel certain Chris is watching over him until that happens.Haverly is four-years-old and is a pure delight. He loves people and loves other dogs. And we love him. Please spread the word about this super survivor. We owe it to Chris. And to Haverly.Animal Aid Society, 80 Butler Farm Road, Hampton VA. Open daily between 9AM and noon.Interested? Come for a visit any day of the week - 365 days a year between 9am - 12pm. Hope to see you soon!PLEASE NOTE: Animal Aid Society observes a 40 mile adoption radius to facilitate post adoption support and follow ups.

Story
We have had Demi for about 3 years now, but unfortunately we cannot keep her. She is a sweet girl who is very nervous when she meets new people. She does well if people wait to pet her after she settles down, and then once you start petting her- you better not stop! She loves butt scratches, stuffed toys, and bones.

Story
Meet Buddy, a lovable 5-year-old Boxer mix with a heart as big as his adorable, expressive ears. Those ears are truly the cutest — always perked up and ready to listen, especially when you’re talking to him. His sweet, affectionate personality shines through in everything he does. Buddy can be dog selective, so he would do best as the only dog in the home or with calm introductions. He thrives when he has clear boundaries and structure. Buddy would do best in a household with older children who understand how to respect his space and allow him time to feel comfortable. This handsome boy is also quite the jumper! For his safety, he will need a home with a tall, secure fenced-in yard where he can play and stretch his legs without worry. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion with personality, charm, and the cutest ears around, Buddy might just be your perfect match.

Story
Meet Champ, a sweet senior boy who was transferred to Norfolk SPCA all the way from Tennessee in hopes of finding his forever family here. He’s ready for a fresh start and a cozy place to call home. Don’t let the “senior” title fool you — Champ is super playful and absolutely loves spending time with his toys. He still has plenty of pep in his step and would happily join you for a morning trip to the dog park before heading home to nap the day away while you binge-watch your favorite TV shows. The best of both worlds. Champ does have a little wear and tear that comes with age and experience. Champ is would love to meet other dogs and children. He is eager to settle in and be someone’s loyal companion. If you’re looking for a fun-loving senior who can balance playtime with serious couch time, Champ just might be your guy.

Story
Big Boy. Big Heart. Big Cuddles. Meet Bear.   Bear is the kind of dog people dream about finding. He’s healthy, well-mannered, deeply loyal, and full of love—he simply needs a new home because his family is relocating and sadly cannot take him with them.Born August 25, 2023, this handsome 90-pound Boxer boy is the total package. His parents are AKC registered Boxers, and while Bear isn’t registered himself, he has all the best qualities of the breed. He is neutered, microchipped, fully housebroken, and wonderfully smart. Bear will even let you know when it’s time to go outside—or when bedtime has arrived.   Bear’s personality is where he truly shines. Every morning starts the same way: a giant Bear hug. He absolutely adores his family and believes the best place in the world is curled up close to his favorite humans. Despite his size, he is convinced he’s a lap dog and will happily drape himself across you for cuddle time.   While he loves his family endlessly, Bear is a little reserved when meeting new people and likes to take things slow. Busy environments and crowded stores aren’t really his style. He currently lives on a farm and enjoys the calmer side of life where he can focus on what matters most—his people.   With other dogs, Bear is a social butterfly. He enjoys canine friends and especially loves playing chase in the yard or at the dog park. Toys aren’t really his thing, but he will occasionally chew on a bone and then happily stretch out on his bed for a long nap.   Bear is great with children and other dogs, listens well, and already knows his basic commands. He rides nicely in the car and enjoys going on walks with his family.   At the end of the day, Bear is exactly what his name suggests—a big, lovable teddy bear who thrives on companionship and loyalty. The perfect home for Bear will appreciate his affectionate nature, give him time to warm up to new people, and enjoy having a devoted best friend by their side.   If you’re looking for a loyal companion with a huge heart and an even bigger cuddle factor, Bear may be the perfect dog for you.   To learn more or apply to adopt Bear, please emailCritter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comMarch 10, 2026, 12:49 am

Story
Meet Bama – the life of the party with a heart full of love. Born August 5, 2023, in Knoxville, Tennessee, Bama is a young Boxer boy bursting with personality. Both of his parents are AKC registered Boxers, though Bama himself is not registered. He is neutered, microchipped, and ready to find a family that will appreciate his fun-loving spirit. Bama is the definition of playful. Toys are his absolute favorite, and he will happily chase balls, retrieve chew toys, and keep the fun going as long as someone is willing to play along. If you enjoy an interactive, energetic dog who loves games, Bama will be right by your side. This happy boy is also incredibly social. Bama truly has never met a stranger and believes everyone he sees might be a new friend—especially children, whom he absolutely adores. His excitement sometimes means he’ll jump up to greet you, but he is very smart and listens well when given direction. Walks are another one of Bama’s favorite activities, particularly when he can take his time exploring and sniffing everything along the way. He’s curious, engaged, and loves discovering the world beside his people. Bama also has a classic case of FOMO—fear of missing out. Wherever you are, that’s where he wants to be. He likes to keep an eye on things just in case something exciting is happening… or maybe a treat might appear.      With his wagging tail, playful personality, and loyal heart, Bama is a joyful companion who will bring energy, laughter, and love into the right home.
