Story
I got Ro-Nan for emotional support as a single-bachelor after my mom passed from Cancer. His name is a combination of my favorite book in the Bible, Romans, and my mom's name, Nan. Pronounced Ro-nin, he answers to that, and Roro. I just had a baby daughter and adopted an 8 and 6 year old, and Ro has not adjusted well to the change. He will make an excellent addition to any home that has older children and attentive and loving caregivers. He is high energy and extremely loyal and intelligent. Ro is crate and house trained. He has been spending more time in the crate since the baby was born, so increasing time at home in hour outside the crate in hour increments would help him remember his home-alone skills more smoothly.

Story
Years ago, we thought we'd found Haverly his forever family. They thought he was perfect, too. Then they moved.Instead of taking him with them - or returning him to us, as they promised - they left him with someone. Who left him with someone else. Somewhere along the way, Haverly wound up alone in a regional shelter.Fortunately, Haverly had one tiny piece of technology working in his favor: a microchip. That's how the shelter found Animal Aid. Otherwise... well, let's not think about that.Haverly isn't.He's six years old, devastatingly handsome, housetrained, gentle, affectionate, wonderful on a leash, and the kind of dog who believes the best place in the world is wherever his people are. He happily lived with young children and other dogs, has excellent house manners, and treats couches like sacred objects meant only for tasteful lounging and maximum cuddling. His whole body wags when he sees people. His kisses are enthusiastic enough to qualify as a facial exfoliation. He greets every stranger like a best friend. It's remarkable when you remember everything he's been through.Haverly was originally rescued by the late Chris Haverly, whose life's work gave thousands of unwanted dogs a second chance. Somehow, Haverly still wakes up every morning believing the world is full of good people. We think Chris would be pretty proud of that. The remarkable thing about dogs is that they don't spend much time asking why yesterday happened. Haverly was failed by people who promised him forever, yet he still greets new people like they're about to become family. This time, we'd really like him to be right. PLEASE HELP give Haverly the happy new beginning he deserves. Share his story. Tell your friends. His person or family is out there; let's help them find each other.Haverly is at Animal Aid Society, 80 Butler Farm Road, Hampton, VA. Visiting hours are 9am to noon, daily, including weekends & holidays.Interested? Come for a visit any day of the week - 365 days a year between 9am - 12pm. Hope to see you soon!PLEASE NOTE: Animal Aid Society observes a 40 mile adoption radius to facilitate post adoption support and follow ups.

Story
Hi there! I’m Jynx, a 3-year-old mix (maybe pit/boxer?) with soft fawn fur, adorable white socks, and a personality as lovable as my look. If you’re searching for a snuggle buddy and an outdoor adventurer wrapped into one, I might be your perfect match. I love lounging for cuddles as much as I enjoy zooming around the yard and playing tug with ropes and toys. Life hasn’t always been easy, but I adjusted quickly to my cozy new home after being rescued right before Christmas—and what a gift that was! Now, I’m thriving and soaking up all the love and fun that comes my way. I am working on dog relationships as there was a dog I did not get along with well in my previous foster home. For now, we will try to find me a home as the only dog until I can work on being comfortable around other dogs. I’m gentle and curious around cats. I would do fine to meet kids but will not be allowed to live with kids because I can be nervous and lack confidence at times. I’m house-trained, and leash-trained. I don’t like being crated but behave well when unmonitored outside of the crate. I’m also spayed, vaccinated, heartworm negative, and ready to brighten your life with my goofy, loving energy. Since I can be a bit of a barker, I wouldn’t be suited for apartment living. I’m currently in Hampton Roads, VA, but I’d happily make the journey to find my forever home (transport fees apply). If you’re 21 or older and lo

Story
Hi there, I'm Vega, a 7-year-old, 70-pound, brindle and white boxer. I'm looking for a forever home with someone who can keep up with me and love me unconditionally. I'm an extremely loving, smart and adventurous boy, who enjoys playing, running, and exploring. I'm also very smart and eager to please, especially if you have some treats for me. I'm neutered, vaccinated, and heartworm negative, so I'm ready to go whenever you are. I have a ton of drive which makes me super fun to work with and my foster mom says I’d be amazing at dog sports of any kind because of how much I like to work. My foster mom can explain more but I need a firm owner who will work me and take me on adventures because I am no couch potato. I am dog selective needing slow intros to other dogs. I should not be around cats or other small animals because of my high prey drive. I do well with kids but best with older kids because of my size and energy. I can be crate reactive and have some barrier frustration, but I’ve been learning to improve my behavior here and am doing so much better. I also need more work on leash training, as I pull hard. Devices like gentle leaders may help me learn how to walk better on leash. I have a lot of love to give. I'm very passionate and loyal to anyone I bond with. I bond quickly and can’t wait to make friends with you! I love being petted and cuddled. I'm a relatively quiet pup, and I calm well when my exercise needs are met. I'm being fostered in Hampton Roads, VA but I can be transported out of state if you're the one for me. So, what do you say? Are you ready to meet your new best friend? I'm waiting for you. Fill out an application today and we will get the process started! *Must be 21 or older to apply.

Story
Ruthie is a 2-year-old, 60-lb Boxer mix with a gentle soul and a brilliant mind. Before coming into rescue, Ruthie lived on her own for at least 6 months, skillfully evading capture, multiple trapping attempts, and surviving in an industrial area of town. Fed by kind mechanics and workers, she learned how to stay safe, avoid danger, and always show up for food — and that intelligence still shines through today. After a dramatic capture, Ruthie has been in a foster home, where she’s proven to be a very polite houseguest. She is fully house-trained and, even at her scariest moments, has never shown a hint of aggression — no growling, no raised lips, just fear. Ruthie is shy and deeply cautious with people, but she is sweet, gentle, and incredibly observant. We would not be surprised if Ruthie spent some of her life in someone’s home.  This brainy girl reads the room like a pro. She knows when a human might approach and will quietly skedaddle to keep herself feeling safe. While she’s still very nervous about leashes and handling, she allows most people to gently scratch her muzzle, and she’s learning — slowly but surely — that human touch isn’t such a bad thing. Watching her progress has been incredibly rewarding, especially as she’s started to enjoy ear scratches and soft affection from her foster mom. Ruthie is a great pack dog. She does beautifully with dogs of all sizes and temperaments and enjoys playful wrestling with dogs her size, but doesn’t demand play.  She happily coexists with the resident Chihuahua in her foster home. Ruthie is calm and content indoors and also enjoys a daily visit to the dog park. She’s a quiet presence who’s perfectly happy lounging on a chair, listening to her foster mom’s Zoom calls, and soaking in the safety of home life. At home, Ruthie is her foster mom’s quiet shadow. She sleeps in her room, wiggles with excitement when she comes home, follows her around the dog park — and yet may still hop off her bed and slip away if that same foster mom walks toward her for a pet. With Ruthie, trust is built in tiny, meaningful moments, and every day brings progress. Because of her history, Ruthie is a high flight-risk dog, especially in the early days. She will need a very committed adopter with a securely fenced yard, experience with fearful or flight-risk dogs, and a willingness to use safety tools like GPS collars, double leashes, and secure handling. Strength matters too — this is a 60-lb girl who needs someone confident and prepared. Ruthie has been around children at the dog park and treats them like little adults — with polite, reserved hesitation. She is food-motivated, sweet, and incredibly smart. With patience, structure, and time, she has all the makings of a truly special companion. Ruthie is one of those dogs who, with the right adopter and a few committed months of trust-building, will become a dream dog. Watching her finally relax, feel safe, and just be a dog has been an absolute privilege — and we can’t wait to see her find the forever home she deserves. ccrnewengland@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.July 8, 2026, 12:17 am

BUST ME OUT OF HERE! Don`t let my kennel manners fool you, I would much rather be out spending time with people! I`m a happy-go-lucky guy who loves meeting new friends and soaking up all the attention I can get. I seem to enjoy the company of other dogs and would love an active home where I have plenty of room to stretch my legs and play. A home with a fenced yard would be ideal, and any children in the household should be comfortable around large dogs.If you`re looking for a friendly, affectionate companion with a big heart and an even bigger smile, I may be the perfect addition to your family. Ask the care team to learn more about me!
