Story
If you’re looking for a loyal, fun, and affectionate companion who will melt your heart, River may be your perfect match! This handsome liver-and-white boy is full of love, charm, and personality. River is a big-boned, sturdy boy weighing 66 pounds—all muscle and heart! Don’t let the number fool you—he’s solid but our goal is 55 pounds.    River’s biggest dream? A yard of his own! After living in an apartment, he’s ready to stretch his legs, chase bugs, and explore to his heart’s content. His new home will need a secure 6-foot fence to keep this curious explorer safe. Although River hasn’t lived with children full-time, he’s been gentle and affectionate when around them. His world revolves around people—he’s never met a stranger and loves being wherever his people are. River LOVES other dogs and absolutely must have a friendly, playful canine companion in his new home. He’s also lived peacefully with a cat—his feline roommate was one of his best buddies! This smart boy already knows “sit,” “down,” “leave it,” and he’s eager to please. His leash manners are good, but his handler should be comfortable managing this big boy.    Personality Snapshot....  Friendly, sensitive, and loving  Dog- and cat-friendly  Cuddly and affectionate  Loves water and swimming (new home needs baby pool)  Excellent house manners; not a fan of the crate! River’s previous owner loved him deeply but had to make the difficult decision to surrender him to NBRAN due to frequent travel and apartment living. River’s ideal family will be home more often than not, with a yard to play in, a dog buddy to share adventures, and people who will shower him with the same love and devotion he gives so freely. The adoption fee for River, who lives in Parker, CO is $400, which helps offset our vetting and allows NBRAN to rescue more of these wonderful family members.  If you are interested in making River a part of your family, please complete the on-line application by visiting www.nbran.org .    Your state coordinator/volunteer will conduct a phone interview, home visit and vet check as part of the approval process.  Once all 3 have been approved, we will begin the matching process.      Transportation can be arranged up to 1400 miles with the adopter being responsible for at least the last 100 miles. November 8, 2025, 2:17 am

Story
Archie is a six-year-old, purebred, neutered male with a stunning liver and white roan coat and an athletic build.  He is solid and compact in size, but weighs 41 pounds.  He’s as handsome as he is smart, and he’s ready to find his forever family! Archie came to NBRAN after his previous family’s living situation changed from a home with a yard to a condo. Since Archie thrives on being outdoors—playing, sniffing, and exploring—he struggled without the space he loves. For that reason, Archie’s new home must have a secure fenced yard (6 ft. required). This bright boy already knows sit, shake, down, spin and would love to keep learning. With his smaller frame, agility could be a perfect fit for him! He’s very food-motivated, making training both fun and rewarding.  Speaking of food, this little guy LOVES to counter surf and has been known to snatch food from your hand.  Therefore, a home with dog-experienced children (10+ years) would be acceptable.  Once he eats his supper, he might get a "food coma" and then start to wind down for the evening.  He is happy to sit next to you while you watch your favorite TV show or read a good book.   Archie enjoys the company of other dogs, &#226&#128&#139but he hasn’t been tested with cats. Like many smart pups, Archie sometimes practices a little “selective hearing” when he’s nose-down in the yard—but the sound of a treat bag brings him running every time. He’s also &#226&#128&#139an alert barker and will let you know if something seems out of the ordinary.   Archie’s ideal match will be an active person or family who loves the outdoors as much as he does. Walks, babypool/water, casual hikes, and backyard adventures are his absolute favorites.  If you’re looking for a loyal, compact size, smart, and energetic companion, Archie may be the perfect match. The adoption fee for Archie, who lives in Highlands Ranch, CO is $350, which helps offset our vetting and allows NBRAN to rescue more of these wonderful family members.  If you are interested in making Archie a part of your family, please complete the on-line application by visiting www.nbran.org .    Your state coordinator/volunteer will conduct a phone interview, home visit and vet check as part of the approval process.  Once all 3 have been approved, we will begin the matching process.      Transportation can be arranged up to 1400 miles with the adopter being responsible for at least the last 100 miles.      November 8, 2025, 2:40 am

Story
Coconut is the cutest black and white brit mix (primarily setter) you will ever see. She is very intelligent, athletic, loyal, and cuddly.   She is a 3 year-old and weighs 35 pounds.  She LOVES people, and is really good on her leash walks.  Coconut’s foster mom has worked on Coconut’s social skills and Coconut is quite polite and well-behaved in social settings. She even walked politely through a nursery without knocking over plants or trying to eat them.  Coconut’s foster mom has even taken Coconut to work where she either lays quietly on the floor or talks to the other employees. Coconut is a high energy girl, very birdy, and will need a home with a yard that is has a 6 ft privacy fence so she can safely run zoomies and hang out in the sun.  She is going to need a home where her people understand her exercise needs and can take her on daily walks/runs.  Coconut also loves her toys although squeakies aren’t the best since she has been known to tear out the squeaker and you would want to avoid a squeakerectomy. Coconut would do well as an only dog or would be okay with another dog who is not a bully.  She is not timid with other dogs and will check aggressive dogs, will guard, but loves to play.  Coconut can get jealous when another dog tries to get her toys or treats and will tell the other dog off.  When she is corrected she responds appropriate and immediately.  She does tend to play hard so a small dog is probably not appropriate Coconut likes to get your attention by putting your hand in her mouth.  She doesn’t bite or pull but just gently holds your hand until you respond.  A little training should be able to transfer this behavior to just nosing your hand for attention.   Coconut also loves to herd her people.  Coconut does have a hip pin from surgery required after sh was hit by a car.  Her surgery was successful and she loves to run. Coconut needs a person or family that takes her with them for most everything.  A home where someone is home most of the time would also be ideal.  She just wants to be with people and wants to go with them. She is polite and great in every setting her foster family has tested.   She would do ok with a single person that needs a companion for adventures, or with a family that takes the dog with them for adventures Coconut is spayed, current on her vaccinations, heartworm negative, and microchipped.  Her adoption fee is $325.00.  If you are interested in making Coconut a member of your family, and have the time, energy, and love to give her, please visit www.nbran.org and complete the on-line adoption application form under the Adopt tab.  A phone interview, home visit, and vet check will be required as part of the approval process. If you have questions after you have completed the adoption application, contact Patti at 801.641.4053.   Please realize that all our dogs are placed in the most appropriate home for their individual needs.  We do not operate on a first-come, first-serve basis.  Coconut can be adopted up to 1400 miles from her foster home to eligible adopters.June 27, 2025, 3:54 pm
