Story
Yeti is on our `Call to Action` list due to some challenging behaviors we`ve noticed here at the shelter--especially around other dogs. Yeti has a team of staff and volunteers who are working with him and he`s making amazing progress, but he is still a high energy dog who needs consistent exercise and enrichment. The shelter environment is difficult for him, and we think he needs out ASAP. Yeti would be best in a home with no other animals as he`s working on his skills, and likely adults or older children. He loves to play with his ball and he will gladly chase them for as long as you`ll throw them, and return them to your feet. If you are interested in learning more about him, please email animal.care@ventura.org

Story
This dog is on our `Call to Action` list because his handlers are limited to our more skilled staff and volunteers. This limitation is necessary for the safety of the dog, volunteers, and staff - but it also means his opportunities for enrichment and social interaction can be limited as well. The need for careful handling is because Cassadano has a low tolerance for body handling - sometimes when petting or touching him, he turns and snaps. Usually, it doesn’t seem like he is committed to a hard bite, more like a warning to get you to stop, but it is a bite nonetheless. He has been in our care going on 2 years in March 2026. No one has been able to take on a dog like him. He’s won over many staff and volunteers with his fun-loving, goofy personality and his exceptional playfulness with other large dogs. He has probably helped our playgroup team evaluate hundreds of dogs, if not more! It’s heartbreaking to see him grow up in a shelter, it’s no place for a dog to live long term. We hope there is someone who is willing to see past his initial unwillingness to be pet, take it slow like we have over the last year or so, and let Cassadano come around in his own time. @vcanimalservices Cassadano, the boxer mix who LOVES other dogs ?? If you’ve got a rowdy dog at home who wants a playmate, Casso is a perfect candidate. If you are looking for a goober of a dog who will put a smile on your face every single day, Cassa D is the MAN. Cassadano has spent nearly a year in shelter. He can be wary of strangers, and is not the most cuddly dog out there, so is unfortunately passed over. ?? He appreciates meeting new humans slowly, but is well worth the time spent to become his friend. And if you’ve got treats… it may not take that much time at all! The best way to learn more about Cassadano is to come meet him at the shelter, but you can find him our website too at vcas.us/dogs. Currently located at 600 Aviation Drive, Camarillo CA. Adoption hours: Tues-Sunday 1PM-6PM Full adoption process explained at vcas.us/adopt

Story
Claudie  is about 11mon old med size dog. She weighs about 30-35 lbs, she is a boxer/lab mix. She was found with her mom and her sibling abundant in the backyard of the house when the owner moved out. Her leg was injured really bad and we were told by the vet we might have to amputate the leg. After few treatments and Xrays, vet saw improvement and amputation didn't take place. She is recovered now, walking and running but she does limp and holds  her leg up. She will need some one who is patient with her and willing to take time to walk & hike with her. It was a miracle that she can even use that leg and it’s not amputated.  She is a sweet puppy, friendly with people and other dogs. She is vaccinated , spayed and will be microchipped before adoption. November 4, 2024, 8:54 pm

Story
This sweet fawn and cream-colored bully girl is 2.5 years old and full of love, curiosity, and playful energy. Sandee's journey hasn’t been easy. She was rescued as a puppy from a high-kill shelter after being found abandoned at a busy intersection, dangerously close to traffic. She came to us emaciated and severely neglected, but despite her rough start, Sandee has blossomed into a friendly and affectionate companion who adores people and gets along wonderfully with other pets. Sandee has been patiently waiting in foster care for almost two years, hoping for her forever family to find her. While her foster family loves her dearly, they work full-time, so she’s not getting the attention she truly deserves — yet she remains happy, easy-going, and always ready to greet you with a wagging tail. We have her fully vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed. She would thrive in a home with someone who appreciates her breed and is looking for a loyal, loving companion. Adoption Fee: $350 Please email AlphaDogPetRescue@yahoo.com to request an adoption application.

Story
There’s something magical about Rascal. Maybe it’s the way he runs full speed across the yard, ears flopping, as if he’s chasing the wind itself. Or maybe it’s how he’ll find the perfect sunny spot, stretch out, and bask in the warmth like there’s not a care in the world. Life has not always been kind to Rascal but there’s a sweetness in him that never dimmed. He’s not the type to give up on love, even if it takes him a little time to let you in. Once he does, though, you’ll see the silly, goofy side of Rascal that sure to keep smiling from ear to ear. The playful side, full of energy and excitement for life. He’ll race through the yard, eager to explore, and come sprinting back to you with a wagging tail and hopeful eyes that say, “Got another treat for me?” Rascal loves treats. If you want to win his heart, that's your ticket. He’ll sit, stay, and even learn new tricks just to get one. And when he’s done playing and learning, Rascal will settle into one of his favorite places - the nearest sunbeam. Watching him snooze peacefully in the sunlight, you’d never guess he had a rough start in life. Rascal is a sweet little snuggle bug with a deep affection for anything soft! If it’s fluffy, cozy, or cushy, Rascal is all in. He’ll happily curl up on the softest blanket or pillow he can find, making sure to get as comfy as possible before settling in for some quality cuddle time curled up next to you on the couch, nuzzling into your lap and soaking up all the affection he can get. Rascal’s journey hasn’t always been easy, but he’s ready for his next chapter. Could you be the one to show him what love and security feel like? Come meet Rascal, and you’ll see—there’s a bright light behind those soulful eyes, just waiting for the right person to bring it out. Reach out to us today to find out more about Rascal or to schedule a meet a greet. Please be sure to include a phone a number you can be reached at.

Story
Meet Seven: The Goofy, Loving, and Brave Soul Ready for a Forever Home Seven has been through more than any dog should ever have to endure, but through it all, he has remained a sweet, resilient spirit with so much love to give. After spending a full year in a city shelter, Seven was finally pulled by a rescue group—but his journey didn’t end there. He, along with many other dogs, was abandoned at a boarding facility when the rescue gave up on them. When we first found Seven, he was terrified and shut down, unsure of the world around him. But that was just the beginning of his incredible transformation. Today, Seven is unrecognizable from the scared pup we first met. He has blossomed into an absolute joy—a goofy, silly, and quirky dog who brings smiles wherever he goes. His trainers are absolutely smitten with him, and he’s quickly become their favorite student! Seven’s love for life has finally emerged, and he’s ready to share it with a family of his own. Seven is full of personality. He loves belly rubs and cuddles more than anything and will gladly snuggle up with you whenever he gets the chance. His playful side is just as lovable—he has a special affinity for water, and you’ll often catch him splashing around and having the time of his life. But it’s his love for his stuffy toys that truly steals the show. He gets so excited about them that he’ll toss them up in the air, catch them mid-flight, and prance around, so proud of his little accomplishment. Seven’s favorite trick is “paw,” and he will happily show it off to you all day long—just as long as the treats keep coming! His goofy antics will keep you laughing, and his sweet nature will make your heart swell. Seven has waited so long for this moment—the chance to have a family of his own and a home where he can truly be himself. He’s come so far, and now it’s time for his life to really begin. If you’re looking for a dog who will fill your home with love, laughter, and fun, Seven is the perfect match. He’s ready to be your loyal companion, your cuddle buddy, and your goofy sidekick for life.
