Story
Hi, I'm Yahtzee! I'm just the right size.and as sweet as they come. Not too big to be overwhelming but not too small either...I'm just right! When I came to FMAR as a stray, I had a skin condition and the veterinary team is working hard to help me feel better. I'm only a few years old and I have a lot of love to give to someone who will give me chance to be a part of their family. If you would like to meet me, please submit an application for me on our website https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogs. I am neutered, up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. My adoption fee is $250, which helps cover the cost of the medical care I have received.**Each dog is different, so each adoption is different. Our adoption process might require multiple visits to the shelter before our dogs can go home. Or they may be ready on the first visit. It really depends on the individual dog and the potential adopters. Once we receive your application, the Dog Staff will contact you to discuss meeting our dogs.

Story
Meet Wonder Woman...she is a sweet one year old spayed female Bully mix in need of a new home. She came in with what appeared to be a torn ACL. She has visited our vet and she was x rayed and given anti inflammatory meds. They informed us that she would not require surgery. She would just have to take it easy with shorter walks. She is loving and friendly. Please visit the Taylor Animal Shelter to meet her. We are open Monday thru Friday from 9-11:30 am and 12:30-3 pm.

Story
Meet D town...he is a male bully mix in need of a new home on 5/29/2024. He came in as a stray and has not been claimed. He is an extremely handsome boy. He has a coloring of tan and brown that is rare. He has gorgeous eyes and did I mention he is a potty holder. This means he is most likely house trained. He is good on a leash and enjoys being outside. He is dog reactive, so he may need to be an only pet. A meet and greet could be done, however, so far he does not seem to care for other dogs. Please visit the Taylor Animal Shelter to meet him. We are open Monday thru Friday from 9-11:30 am and 12:30-3 pm. We are also open until 6 pm Wednesdays and 9 am to 1 pm Saturdays until further notice. We have been in an overcrowded state and we want to give adopters every possible opportunity to adopt.

Story
Phoenix is a sweet dog who loves the peoples closest to her. She does well with other dogs and people who she knows, however struggles with outside people that she does not know. She is house trained, knows many tricks, and is highly food motivated. She loves routine, such as sunbathing in the morning, and going on nightly walks. I would care for Phoenix for the rest of her life, however it just doesn't not work for my living situation. I am looking for someone else to take her, and give her the best life possible, given her struggles outside with strangers. Personally, I love giving her snacks like peanut butter, plenty of bones, and going out with the long leash when not many people are outside, and just letting her run around and sniff everything. If are open to caring for this sweet dog, please sent an application in and we can talk about if Phoenix would be a good companion for you!

Story
A few months back we pulled our incredibly scared but sweet, Nova, from the Romulus Animal Shelter. Nova had been spotted in the area and on the run for approx 3 months and was finally able to be trapped. We were able to pull her just a day before her set euthanasia, her time was up. Nova has come a long way, but is still very cautious of people. Add to this poor little lady's somewhat sad story....she is heartworm positive. She bonded at her foster's home with another dog, Sky, and was finally relaxing a little bit. Tragically, Sky passed away suddenly. Her foster mom gives her extra attention and reassures her that everything is okay. Nova is still going through her treatment, so she is looking for a foster/foster to adopt home. The cost of treatment is 100% covered by the rescue. We'd really like to find her a quiet home, possibly with someone retired, where there's not a lot of commotion but there's someone home often that could love on her all day long. She is incredibly scare of change and new environments, but is so sweet and will warm up quickly. Her current foster mom says she's committed to keeping her with her until she finds the perfect home. Is it you?

Story
Meet Benny! He's a sweet boy, his favorite thing is to snuggle on the couch. He loves everyone he meets and wait his turn for pets. Benny walks great on leash and is very well trained with the basic commands. He is a bit of an attention hog so will need to be the only pet in the home. Benny is fully potty and kennel trained! He is a bulldog / bully mix who can be a bit lazy and stubborn at times, we prefer someone with previous dog experience and older children. A laid back home is what's best for him, he does great with car rides but gets tired out quick on walks or in the heat so no hikes for him please!
