Story
Citrus was living alone in an abandoned house with no doors or windows. We trapped her, and she got very upset. Citrus was growling for many many days, and did not allow any handling. She finally came around to trust us, and is now a loving sweetheart. Citrus wants an understanding foster-to-adopt home, who wants to baby her. She is estimated to be 2-4 years old, and a mix between English Bulldog and Boxer. Citrus has a classic cautious and disapproving yet personable English Bulldog personality, and the silly play style of a Boxer. We are looking for a household without children for Citrus. Leashed walks are fine, she does not require a fenced in yard. Citrus has dog friends at the shelter - but incorporating her into a home dynamic with other dogs will take weeks. If you are up for it, we can discuss. We cover all needed vet care. The adoption fee is $275. Please apply through our website: rebeldogsdetroit.com/applytoadopt

Story
Meet Winchester — your future best friend with springs for legs and a heart of gold 💙Winchester is a 3-year-old male Boxer mix who lives life at full speed and with a giant, goofy grin on his face. He’s the kind of dog who can turn a simple walk into an adventure and a boring afternoon into a full-on play session. This handsome guy is active, playful, and endlessly entertaining. He loves to run, bounce, wiggle, and make you laugh with his silly Boxer antics. When he’s excited (which is often), his whole body joins the celebration. Winchester would thrive with an adopter who enjoys staying active and wants a dog who’s always up for fun. After he’s burned off some energy, Winchester is happy to hang out, soak up attention, and remind you why Boxer mixes are such lovable goofballs. He’s affectionate, loyal, and ready to be someone’s shadow—especially if treats or toys are involved.Winchester would do best in a home that can give him daily exercise, playtime, and continued training to help him be the best boy he can be. In return, he promises laughs, companionship, and unconditional love.If you’re looking for a happy, energetic, and downright goofy companion, Winchester might just be your perfect match 🐾💥

Hi! This is Teddy! He is approximately 2 to 3 years old. He is very high energy and a love bug. He appears to be dog friendly. He's broken out of my yard to play with the neighbors dog. I have to rehome him because my work schedule is getting worse. I work 6 days a week and he's in his kennel for 12 to 14 hours a day normally. I just want better for him (he deserves it). He is not up to date on his shots or neutered although I would be willing to help with that if it would help you. I just want him to be happy and safe. He is a Pitt/Boxer mix (that's what I was told.

Would you be willing to host this pretty pitty girl for a few months while she goes through her heartworm treatment? This sweet pup needs a foster home! We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay online until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! We will do our best to notify you by email if the pet(s) you are interested in are no longer available. New animals are posted daily, so please let us know if another furry friend peaks your interest (there is no need to fill out a second application)! Fill out the application completely. Every question must be answered, and it must be signed.-Applicants must be 21+ years old and live within a 100-mile radius of our shelter at 22415 Groesbeck Hwy, Warren 48089.-You must identify at least 1 animal that you are interested in.-Once your application is received, it will be assigned to one of our volunteer Adoption Counselors who will follow-up with the applicant who is the best fit within a few days, or to discuss other options. It could take up to a couple of weeks for you to receive a final disposition on your application so there is no need to check on the status.-Introductions will be scheduled by appointment only, 30 minutes per appointment. The entire household, including current dogs, must be present for the appointment. (Note: Please do not bring your dogs if you are meeting cats!). The introductions will take place outside in our parking lot (or in our cat room if you're meeting cats).-We will perform vet checks for current and prior pets in the household.-Finalizing the adoption will also be scheduled by appointment.Thank you for your understanding.

Meet Pepper & Princess – A Beautiful Boxer Duo 💕 Pepper and her daughter Princess are a bonded pair of Boxers with hearts as big as their smiles. They came into our rescue several months ago after their owner experienced life changes and could no longer care for them. When they arrived, both girls were underweight and had never received proper veterinary care. They were heartworm positive and neither had been spayed. Thanks to the love and dedication of our rescue, Pepper and Princess are now fully up to date on vaccines and have successfully completed heartworm treatment. They’ve come such a long way and are healthier, happier, and ready for their next chapter. Personality-wise, these two are absolute gems. They are incredibly sweet, gentle, and polite — no jumping here! They do wonderfully with other dogs, puppies, and even cats. Their calm, loving nature makes them a joy to be around. Pepper and Princess are crate trained and stay in their crates when left home alone. Their crates are their cozy, safe spaces, and they settle in without any issues. These girls would thrive in a home where they can truly be part of the family — lounging nearby, soaking up love, and enjoying life together. Because of their close bond, it would be a dream come true for them to be adopted together, though the most important thing is finding them a loving, stable home. If you’re looking for loyal companions with gentle hearts and a touching story of resilience, Pepper and Princess may be the perfect match for you. If you are interested in these two girls, please message us and we will send you an application. They are being fostered in MS but included in your adoption fee is transport to a location near you by Rescue Riders Pet Transport, the most animal friendly transport on the road!

Story
Meet Venus – The Brightest Star in the Sky, Looking for Her Orbit Venus is a young, radiant pup whose love burns as bright as her name suggests. With legs built for zoomies and a heart made for cuddles, she’s a silly, snuggly, and sweet soul still learning the ropes of this world—but she’s already lighting up every room she enters. Found as a puppy and now thriving in foster care, Venus is dog-friendly and plays beautifully with pups who match her intergalactic energy. She’s curious about cats and may give them a playful chase, but it’s all in good fun. At night, she tucks herself into her crate like a sleepy star and sleeps soundly through to morning. She walks well on a leash—especially with a harness to help her remember she’s not a rocket ship—and she’s incredibly smart and food motivated. Redirection comes easy when there’s a treat in sight. Like any young explorer, Venus is still working on a few things. She’s learning to be fully potty trained, to keep her paws off the counter, and to feel secure when new people enter her orbit—especially when she’s snuggled close to her person. Thanks to a steady routine and a bit of anxiety support, she’s already making amazing progress. Venus would thrive in a calmer home, ideally with a confident canine companion to guide her and a human who’s ready for the joy (and occasional chaos) that comes with a young dog still learning to navigate the galaxy. Venus has the charm, the brains, and the love—you just have to be her landing spot. Could you be the one to help her shine? Apply today to foster or adopt Venus and give this rising star the forever she deserves. Adoption is $325, which includes spay/neuter at our vet, vaccines, dewormer, microchip, and clean bill of health. Although we work to potty train all of our dogs, we cannot guarantee full house training before adoption. Regression is a normal part of transitioning to a new home. Story
Introducing Rafiki: A Gentle Soul Seeking a Tranquil Sanctuary Meet Rafiki, a truly special boy who brings love and resilience in equal measure. Surrendered to us after being found as a stray, Rafiki's journey has been one of courage and triumph over challenges. Despite a rough start with untreated seizures, his spirit remains unbroken, and he’s now looking for a calm, loving environment to call home. Rafiki’s Needs: Rafiki's seizures are now 98% under control, thanks to dedicated care and medical attention. However, he thrives in a peaceful setting as too much activity can increase his seizure activity. A home without other pets or with just one other calm dog would be ideal for him, ensuring he remains relaxed and happy. What Makes Rafiki Special? Aside from his brave heart, Rafiki is house trained, crate trained, and wonderfully nondestructive—though he has a soft spot for a good stuffie! His favorite pastimes are snuggling on the couch and playing with his collection of squeaky toys and benebones. He even takes his beloved stuffies with him when he goes out to potty, showing just how much they mean to him. The Ideal Home for Rafiki: Rafiki's perfect match would be someone who appreciates the joys and the challenges of caring for a special needs dog. He needs a serene home where he can relax deeply and bond with his caregiver. A fenced backyard is essential for him to safely enjoy the outdoors. Why Choose Rafiki? Choosing to love Rafiki means embracing his uniqueness and providing him with the stability and care he needs to manage his health. In return, Rafiki offers unwavering companionship, endless cuddles, and a reminder of the impact of compassion and resilience. If you’re looking for a quiet companion and aren’t afraid of a little special in your life, Rafiki might just be the dog for you. His calm demeanor and loving nature make him a wonderful addition to a peaceful household. Ready to provide a sanctuary for Rafiki? His journey could lead to your doorstep, transforming both his life and yours. APPLY to FOSTER or ADOPT: rebeldogsdetroit.com/applytoadopt rebeldogsdetroit.com/becomeafoster

Ruby is dog fighting survivor - but also a romantic little girl with a heart of gold. Her favorite thing in the world is to get her belly tickled. Ruby loves to spend time with her people, but also does great when left home alone. She is completely potty trained, and does not destroy things when you are gone - she plays with her toys. Ruby has sustained severe trauma. She came into our care with layers of old and new wounds and multiple health issues. She was severely underweight, and extremely reactive towards other dogs. Ruby IS a smaller pitbull, and despite her reactivity, she is reasonably easy to handle. Ruby loves treats, dog toys and yard time! Photogenic, romantic, silly, and deserving, she has it all! Ruby is currently looking for a foster home, or a forever home. PLEASE DO NOT INQUIRE IF YOU HAVE ANY PLANS TO TAKE HER TO MEET YOUR FAMILY'S DOGS, THE DOG PARK, YOUR NEIGHBORS DOGS ETC.
