Citrus was living alone in an abandoned house with no doors or windows. We trapped her, and she got very upset. Citrus was growling for many many days, and did not allow any handling. She finally came around to trust us, and is now a loving sweetheart. Citrus wants an understanding foster-to-adopt home, who wants to baby her. She is estimated to be 2-4 years old, and a mix between English Bulldog and Boxer. Citrus has a classic cautious and disapproving yet personable English Bulldog personality, and the silly play style of a Boxer. We are looking for a household without children for Citrus. Leashed walks are fine, she does not require a fenced in yard. Citrus has dog friends at the shelter - but incorporating her into a home dynamic with other dogs will take weeks. Grande A18626137 lb. spayed female, approx 2 years old -She calmly explored the yard before approaching me for sniffs-After a couple quick pets she took off on a tear of tight, little spinning zoomies. Initially most it came from nerves, but over time she was more relaxed and playful.-The furrowed brow and the quick, jerky movements show she’s still trying to figure it all out. The unknown can be scary sometimes!-She is a little skinny and food is her love language!She started off wanting to jump up for treats but proves to be a quick learner and picked up “sit” in record time! With consistency and patience she will thrive as she just wants to please!-She showed no interest in toys and they actually seem to scare her. Poor thing is nervous to have fun!-Once she was sure I was a person to trust, she laid in my lap for belly rubs. Before the trust, she was submissive and would just flip on her back when unsure.-She’s still perfecting her leash manners as she is excited to see the world! She does do better with a harness.-This sweet thing is looking for patience and the freedom to move at her speed….not yours.
