Story
Meet Daisy - A Sweet Stray Turned Sweetheart Bull Terrier x Basenji Mix - 3-4 Years Old Daisy's story started on the streets, but thanks to one incredibly kind soul who opened their heart and home to her, this girl got her first taste of what love really feels like and she's never looked back. Now this gorgeous Bull Terrier x Basenji mix is ready for the next chapter: a forever home to call her own. Daisy is the kind of dog who makes you smile the moment you meet her. She's sweet, she's social, and she's already proven she can share her space with other dogs. Cats? That's still a mystery we'd love to solve together with the right adopter. She's current on all her vaccines and will be spayed before heading home so she'll arrive happy, healthy, and ready to settle in. Daisy does best with: - A home that will shower her with love and consistency - Dog-friendly households welcome! - A patient adopter open to slowly introducing cats (if applicable) A little more about Daisy: - Found as a stray now blossoming into the girl she was always meant to be - Up to date on vaccines - Spay surgery coming soon - Gets along with dogs - Cats: unknown slow intro recommended Daisy has already come so far from where she started. She just needs one person or one family to show her that this time, she's home for good. Could that be you?

Story
Rocco has spent months waiting for a place to call home. At just 10 months old, he’s still learning what it means to feel safe, to trust, and to let his guard down. Found alongside another dog, his past is a mystery, but one thing is clear—this sweet, loyal boy is ready to find a family who will give him the love and patience he needs to truly shine. Once Rocco knows he can trust you, his true personality starts to emerge. He’s affectionate and playful, eager to soak up every bit of love and attention. He’s the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation—he loves going for walks just as much as he loves curling up for a nap. He’s already house and crate trained and knows basic commands like sit, stay, and lay down. While Rocco adores his people, he needs a little extra time to warm up to strangers, especially men. He’s also selective with other dogs and needs slow introductions to feel comfortable. Because of his nervous nature, he wouldn’t do well in a home with children. What Rocco needs most is a calm, patient family willing to show him that the world isn’t such a scary place. He’s looking for someone who will give him the time he needs to trust, and in return, he’ll offer a lifetime of unwavering loyalty and love. If you can be that person for Rocco, he’s more than ready to meet you. Adoption is $275, which includes spay/neuter at our vet, vaccines, dewormer, microchip, and clean bill of health. Although we work to potty train all of our dogs, we cannot guarantee full house training before adoption. Regression is a normal part of transitioning to a new home. Story
Splamantha A18548648 lb. spayed female, approx 10 months old -She’s definitely a little fearful to start with new people, and quick movements will make her nervous. As time went on she got more comfortable and was doing much better!-She didn’t have interest in treats but knows “sit”-She’s playful and likes toys. She enjoys tug but may grab fingers on occasion while playing. (Just puppy basics)-She enjoys pets and belly rubs!-She gives a few kisses-She just needs to know she’s safe with people before she opens up!-Good, active pup!-Will need some puppy training. Please keep that in mind if you want a puppy. They require time and patience to be the best that they can be! -Seems non reactive to dogs nearby and may do well living with a fur sibling after slow and proper introsUnknown behavior with dogs/cats/kids •Meet all of our adoptable pets on our website friendsofdacc.org/adopt •Please keep in mind that the shelter can be a very stressful environment. •Studies show that a minimum of 3 days decompression drastically lower stress hormones and allow the dog to show more personality after they have settled in. •There is a suggested donation of $100 for our dogs, payable by cash, check or through paypal at the time of the adoption. •To meet them please go to front door and a DACC staff member will assist you with adoption or fostering. **And when coming to meet one of our dogs, please bring all the humans with you, but leave any current dogs at home. Staff will go over how to slowly and properly introduce them after a decompression period.** •The shelter is open 7 days a week from 10:30-5:30 **1431 E Ferry St. Detroit

Story
Introducing Maddie! This adorable young lady is a 44 pound sweetheart who was born around 10/04/22. She is a beautiful red fawn bull/terrier mix who is spayed, current on her vaccines and preventatives, and is heartworm negative. Maddie is a social, friendly girl who is good with other dogs of all sizes and activity levels. She is getting better on a leash and used the puppy pad in the cold weather, although she has had few accidents. Miss Maddie thinks she is a human. She loves attention but is content to sit on your feet. She is always at attention, even in her sleep. She loves car rides and likes to barks at every 18 wheeler. She’s not a fan of the foster family’s farm pig or cat. They think she just doesn’t understand why we do not eat them. If you find space in your heart and home for Miss Maddie she will take care of you, not the other way around. Please set up a meet and greet with Maddie ASAP. She needs to find her forever home with her new forever family. So please submit an application TODAY! Currently this sweet baby is with our rescue, The Artemis Project, in Arkansas. We DO, however, transport monthly to the metro Detroit area of MI. Because we’re able to transport, we ARE able to accept adoption applications directly from residents of MI. Why do we transport? Because animal overpopulation is severe in our region, and stray and unwanted dogs have very little chance of finding a home here. These babies are, however, at a high risk of being neglected, abused, abandoned, euthanized or even shot (it’s “the way things are done” for some people down here). YOU are truly one of the only safe and happy endings for the lucky ones we are able to rescue. Upon approval of your adoption application, we will then transport your new furbaby to you in the metro Detroit area for just a small travel expense fee of $50 in addition to the adoption fee. MICHIGAN RESIDENTS—>PLEASE CLICK THE LINK BELOW TO FILL OUT THE ADOPTION APPLICATION: https://new.shelterluv.com/form/other/TAP/2450-michigan-adoption Before we can change your new furbaby’s status from "adoptable" to "adoption pending," the $50 transport fee must be paid to secure the adoption. At that time, we will stop accepting applications. The entire adoption fee must be paid prior to the transport in order to ensure your new baby has a spot on the transport. Thank you SO MUCH for giving a homeless Arkansas pup a chance at a real life with a family of their very own!
