Good with dogs,
Story
Tonka is a 4 month old Cairn Terrier mix with the perfect blend of scruffy charm and playful energy. With a Blue Heeler dad and a 10 pound Cairn Terrier mix mom, he’s expected to stay on the smaller side but brings a big personality wherever he goes. Tonka and his sibling were found on the side of the road, but you’d never guess it from his happy, loving spirit. He’s curious, smart, and already showing that loyal Heeler side, while still being a cuddly little terrier who loves attention. Tonka enjoys playing, exploring, and then crashing in your lap when he’s worn out. He would do great in a home ready for a fun, affectionate puppy that will grow into a devoted companion. Tonka is being fostered in TX but can be transported after adoption. You can apply directly for Tonka by clicking the Apply for Adoption button on the linked page. https://www.shelterluv.com/embed/animal/FODS-A-855 All our dogs come with 30 days of free post-adoption support through Petcademy.org. This benefit includes free access to Petcademy's team of trainers/behaviorists, as well as access to online materials that will help you settle your new family member into your home. You can text unlimited questions to Petcademy and they'll respond within 24 hours (Monday-Friday).

Story
Cora is a lovely dog except that our dog Sam doesn't like her much, we got her as a companion to him. She has had some training but plays a bit rough. She does not resource guard, loves toys and treats, and ignores our cat most of the time. A very good watch dog with a deep bark but always quiets when we tell her to. She is ok on a leash but needs more training. She is protective so we watch her carefully around new people, she can appear aggressive when they first arrive only. After guests have been here, she is happy to try for head rubs and attention. She plays mostly with our malta-poo. Around the house she is quiet and well behaved. She is in good health with updated shots.

Story
Nobody has informed Cinnamon that she is, technically speaking, a dog. Cinnamon is actually a small magical forest being disguised as a puppy. Possibly an ewok. Possibly a fox. We are still investigating.Cinnamon believes life is one giant expedition, and she approaches it with the seriousness of a great explorer. Every shoe contains mysteries. Every remote control hides ancient secrets. Every unattended object deserves to be carefully inspected, carried away, and occasionally chewed on for scientific purposes.Despite her tiny size, Cinnamon possesses the energy and determination of an adventurer crossing unknown lands. She climbs, she investigates, she follows the other dogs as though they are part of her expedition team, and then, after all her important discoveries are complete, she transforms into an affectionate cuddle companion who wants nothing more than to curl up beside her humans.Additional field research, expedition footage, and photographic evidence of Cinnamon’s adventures can be found here:https://hope4lapawz.org/wp1/cinnamon-2026022DLike many brilliant young minds, Cinnamon can be a little shy when meeting new people. But once she decides you are trustworthy and worthy of joining her journey, she becomes incredibly loving and loyal.Because Cinnamon is still very young, she needs a home willing to continue guiding her through the important arts of puppyhood: walks, exercise, companionship, toy identification… and learning which objects are not actually collectible treasures.Cinnamon was originally picked up for sterilization and was expected to return to the streets. Fortunately, someone saw something special in this tiny creature and gave her the opportunity to discover a completely different life. Since then, she has been blossoming more every day.And honestly? We suspect she’s only just getting started. This dog is currently in foster care in La Paz, Mexico, but will be transported upon adoption or foster placement. As a U.S. nonprofit, Hope 4 La Pawz, handles all logistics and provides full behavioral and medical info in advance.

Story
Meet Mari! Mari is a female Cairn Terrier mix who can’t wait to find her new forever home. Weighing a petite18 lbs, Mari is gentle, sweet, and loving. She is approximately 5 years old. She is spayed, and up to date on her shots. Cairn Terriers are known for their charming, spirited, and bold personalities. Mari is both playful and affectionate. She is a good fit if you appreciate liveliness and snuggling.  She has plenty of energy and loves to play, making her a joy for families and active individuals.  Cairn Terriers are intelligent and can seem stubborn. She is smart and learns quickly. She can also be a bit independent-minded. Consistent training is key!  What makes Mari wonderful is her curious and adventurous attitude. Her inquisitive nature makes her a natural explorer. Mari is loyal and she likes to form strong bonds with her family.  She likes to stay close and always knows where home is. One of Mari’s favorite pastimes is a good snooze on cozy dog beds or comfy blankets.  She doesn’t mind sleeping with little disturbances in her own space. She can happily sleep in her own room and prefers her own bed.  Mari enjoys a good brushing, and it relaxes her instantly.   Despite Mari’s small size, she has a big, fearless attitude which is common in Cairn Terriers.   Mari is brave and confident. She often thinks of herself as much larger than she is. She’s good with other dogs in the dog park. However, she is known to dominate other dogs who look like her.  She also enjoys some time in front of the mirror and appreciates her reflection.  Because of Mari’s dominant nature, she is leash reactive.   She is fine with other dogs when her leash is not attached but will become more assertive if she is near another dog while on her leash.  Her leash reactivity needs work and she needs a competent handler who is motivated to help her learn. Mari loves tasty treats and will hold off on her scheduled meals in hopes of something worthy of her palate.  Mari does not have accidents inside. However, be watchful for the first five nights as she is sorting out her surroundings.   Mari is perfect for someone who enjoys an energetic, snuggly, and entertaining companion. Mari is not suitable for a home with smaller children. She likes her space at times and prefers a more calm setting. She is not suited for a home with cats or other small critters. Her adoption fee is $450   We cover the medical to prepare the pet for adoption and the adopt donations go directly to cover those costs and range from $295-$495.  Thank you for stepping up to save a life! To expedite to meet with this dog, please go to our site at www.savinggreatanimals.org and fill out an application. We look at the first applications to arrive, so we hope to hear from you soon! Story
Welcome Leader to CCPAL Rescue. Leader is a Cairn Terrier Mix. He is friendly with other dogs and came in with 2 other dogs. He came in with a pregnant momma dog and a male dog named Arty. Arty and Leader have play time and are kenneled together at the Rescue. Leader is 26 pounds and is about 2 years old. His teeth look clean so he won’t need a dental anytime soon. His coat wasn’t as pretty as it is now that he has been in the Rescue a couple of weeks. He is getting lots of daily attention and good nutrition. He is getting his DHPP vaccines and will get Rabies when neutered. He would be fine in a home with a moderately active family. He is sturdy enough to be a good walking companion. He will need brushing and maybe some grooming to have the tip top coat. He isn’t a big shedding dog. He is vocal but not over the top. I would call him an alert dog bark. He will alert you that something is different or someone different is here. He settles down nicely and is also able to be relaxed and chill. He would be able to go with children. We like them to be 8 or older. He is social and very happy. He is independent and not too clingy. He isn’t used to constant touching and attention and is fine relaxing by you and watching what you are doing. We would love this boy to have his very own forever home where he can get daily attention, walks and everything a loved dog gets. He was from an overcrowded situation….maybe a City Removal type case. He is currently in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. His adoption fee is $400 and transport is $200. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states. Contact Marlene at 210-867-1769 or email to ccpalinquiries@gmail.com if you have questions. Online applications at www.ccpalrescue.org See his cute video

Story
Meet Kenzie,  A Cairn Terrier-Poodle mix, and her bonded puppy, Sofie. Kenzie was rescued from an overcrowded kill shelter. Unbeknownst to us, she was pregnant, and a few weeks later, she surprised us with a 3 AM delivery of four puppies Kenzie is a gentle 3-year-old Cairn Terrier mix looking for a loving forever home. She has faced some challenges and now hopes to find someone who will walk with her, cuddle with her, and care for her every day. Sofie is Kenzie’s 4.5-month-old puppy and the smallest of her four surprise pups. She may be shy at first, but she quickly warms up and loves to cuddle when held. Sofie thrives in a gentle, quiet environment where she feels safe and secure. She enjoys being around people who are patient and offer her lots of love and attention. An ideal home for Sofie would be one with a relaxed atmosphere and plenty of opportunities for cuddles and playtime. Whether you're a single person, a couple, or a family, Sofie will fit right in as long as there's a loving corner for her to settle into. Kenzie likes eating human-grade food and relaxing in the sun. She enjoys her toys, playing with Sofie, and exploring together. Here's what a typical day with Kenzie and Sofie might look like: In the morning, Kenzie and Sofie start their day with a refreshing walk around the neighborhood, followed by a tasty breakfast of human-grade food. As the day unfolds, they enjoy some playtime together, engaging with their favorite toys and occasionally napping in a sunny spot. In the afternoon, you might find them happily exploring the backyard or snuggling next to you while you work from home. As evening approaches, Kenzie and Sofie love another walk, followed by more play or a quiet evening cuddled on the sofa. When you’re busy, they keep each other company, and when you’re ready to relax, they’ll happily cuddle on your lap. Kenzie enjoys daily grooming and loves being close to her person. This includes regular brushing to keep her coat tangle-free and occasional baths to maintain her cleanliness. She adapts well, whether you work from home or take her with you. Don’t miss the chance to welcome these sweet girls into your life! Kenzie and Sofie are ready to share their love! **Adopting Kenzie and  Sofie **  To   adopt this mom-daughter pair, please use the link below. One of our volunteers will review your application and follow up with you to ask questions, address any concerns, and determine whether you are a good match for this pup. If a match is made, the next step will be a meet-and-greet. Please use a computer to complete the application, as tablets and cell phones may disrupt the process. Missy has transitioned to a human-grade diet that avoids kibble and focuses on a healthy, canine-specific feeding regimen. We will educate her adopters on proper diet and nutrition.   The adoption fee is $550.00 for both Kenzie and Sofie and includes Kenzie's spay, vaccines, rabies, and a microchip.   https://smallpupsrescue.org   May 27, 2026, 12:20 am
