Story
Currently in a toronto foster home I’m a male Cairn Terrier mix with short little legs, a fluffy coat, and a soft heart that’s slowly learning how to heal. I weigh about 8 kg, and though I may look small, I carry a quiet strength inside me. My past wasn’t kind. I spent years tied up and mistreated by the person who was supposed to care for me. Because of that, I’m still learning what it means to feel safe and loved. I’m not the kind of dog who runs up to greet you right away—in fact, I can be very shy at first. When I’m unsure, I might back away or avoid being touched, and I may not let you pet me right away. But if you give me time, space, and gentle patience… I will start to trust you. And when I do trust you—truly trust you—I’ll come to you on my own, ready for affection, ready to show my love. It just takes time. Once I open my heart, I become incredibly affectionate and will stay by your side like I’ve always belonged there. I get along well with other dogs and enjoy their company. I’m quiet, rarely bark, and I have a sweet, calming presence that makes me a comforting companion. If you already have another pup, I’d probably love the friendship. One thing to know about me: because I lived so long tied up, I feel calmer and safer when I have a collar or leash on, especially in new places or when meeting new people. It helps me feel more grounded, and I tend to be more gentle and composed in those moments. Also, please don’t give me places to hide. If there’s a table or small corner, I’ll likely curl up there and stay hidden. It’s just how I learned to protect myself. But if the space is open and cozy, I’ll slowly start choosing to be near you instead. I was neutered later in life, so I sometimes mark indoors, but this should get better as I adjust to a new routine. I’m still working on outdoor potty training, but I enjoy my walks and want to keep learning. With consistency and love, I know I’ll keep improving. What I really need is someone who understands that love doesn’t always look like tail wags and face kisses right away. Sometimes, love looks like quiet trust. Like sitting nearby. Like slowly walking toward you instead of away. Like the day I finally choose your lap over the safety of a corner. If you're patient, kind, and have a gentle heart, I promise I’ll meet you there—and you’ll get to watch me grow into the loving, loyal dog I was always meant to be. Could you be the one to give me the safe, forever home I’ve always dreamed of? With hope, Hope 🐶

Click the button to download the adoption application. The application is a form-fillable pdf. Fill out the form, save it to your hard drive, then email back to sian@gingerspetrescue.org Hi!  My name is Olivia from Korea and I am a wonderful approximately 6 month old female Cairn Terrier mix.  I weigh approximately 13 lbs. and so excited to find my new forever home.  I am very happy, affectionate, smart, and friendly.  I was saved from the Korean kill shelter where I was due to be euthanized. The activists came and saved me and I can't wait to come to America and find a family to love and care for me forever.  Approximately over a million dogs a year are slaughtered to be eaten.  I am so lucky to get a one-way ticket to Seattle to find my new family.  Take me on car rides, walks in the park, and I will become your best friend.  I get along well with people of all ages, gentle kids, and other dogs.  I will do best with a loving family that can give me lots of love, and affection!  On all overseas adoption, we highly recommend our pet rescue dog trainer who will help train your new pup.  My adoption fee of $1,595 will cover my spay/neuter, DA2PP shots, Rabies, Bordetella, Deworm, Heart Worm Test, Microchip, Boarding Fees, Health Certificate and airline transport cost from Korea to Seattle.   A GPS tracker or Apple Air Tag is required for all adopted dogs. You can bring your own when adopting or you can purchase an Air Tag from us   We cannot guarantee breed or age. The adoption fee is firm and helps save the life of another dog needing rescue and our other dogs in need of medical care.  Donations are always appreciated to help pay down our vet bills at Greenwood Vet.  Ginger's Pet Rescue is a non-profit 501C-3 organization.  The adoption fee is donated to the rescue and is tax deductible.   Please e-mail   admin@gingerspetrescue.org   for an adoption application. Story
Ollie was taken in by the rescue after him and 14 other dogs were removed by Animal Control due to neglect. They were living outside with little care of human interaction. He was in rough shape with very little hair, covered in fleas, underweight with nails that had grown into his feet. He was terrified of people and hid in the laundry room for a few weeks. Within a few months, he has blossomed. He has grown back hair and put on weight. He is all healthy, neutered, chipped, and up to date on his shots. He loves people and turned into a cuddle bug who wants to sit on your lap and sleep with you. He loves car rides and LOVES walks. He bonds quickly to his person, especially females. He is very mellow for his age. He prefers just to lay ang h ang out with his person. He is great with kids. He is really working on his house training. He is dog reactive and would love to be the only dog. Dog parks should be avoided as he will be protective of his person. He doesn't feel completely safe yet and needs a fenced yard. He eats well and love treats. After his hard start, this little love bug deserves an amazing home with lots of cuddles. He is dog reactive so should be an only dog and dog parks should be avoided.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Natasha – Sweet, Spirited, and Ready for a Fresh Start! Breed: Cairn Terrier Mix Born: Around 04/30/2023 &#226&#154&#150&#239&#184&#143 Weight: 10.34 lbs Adoption Fee: $400 Natasha is a gentle soul with a heart as big as her story. Rescued from a difficult situation, she was one of four dogs surviving on just chicken soup. Despite her rough beginnings, Natasha is incredibly friendly and has a sweet, loving nature that wins hearts quickly. She’s currently being treated for a grade 1 heart murmur caused by Chagas Disease, and the great news is that this condition is expected to improve with her ongoing care. She's already responding well to treatment and shows nothing but resilience and joy. Natasha gets along wonderfully with other dogs and would love a home where she can play, cuddle, and be part of a loving family. She’s the kind of pup who reminds you how strong and forgiving animals can be. Ready to give Natasha the happy, healthy life she deserves? She’s ready to love you right back. You can apply for her at www.adoggie4you.org This dog is currently in Texas; however, it can be transported to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Chicago, Des Moines, Omaha, Cincinnati, Lexington KY or all along the East Coast. If transported, there is an additional transport fee of $225. We do not transport to Rhode Island or Massachusetts due to their regulations. Story
Aberdeen Scottish Terrier Rescue is a registered 501(c)3 Web Site: www.aberdeenstr.com ***MUST SUBMIT APPLICATION before we will respond to email or phone inquiries. Thank You for your cooperation*** Please read listings fully to the end before applying for one of our beloved rescues. WE ARE NOT A SHELTER; WE ARE AN ALL-VOLUNTEER RESCUE WITH FULL-TIME JOBS. Please do not contact us to look at a dog. We will contact you once we have reviewed your completed application if we think your home might be a good fit. A reference check, phone interview, and home visit will be completed before meeting an adoptable dog. We work quickly. Please do not submit an application until you are ready to bring a new furry family member home. Expect your references to be contacted shortly after submitting your application. We adopt out to homes around WA & OR, but require that you are present for the meet and greet in Newcastle, WA. Our adoption fee is non-negotiable. The adoption fee is due on the day of adoption in the form of a check, Zelle, or cash. We no longer accept PayPal due to their fees they charge the rescue but if the potential adopter wants to pay the fees we will accept PayPal. Wilson’s story is brutal. Our foster mum was at the shelter to rescue a dog who got privately adopted & we did not want to leave the shelter without saving someone. She found Wilson in a cement run all wet, crying & crying for help to get out. He was listed as 10 years old but did not appear to be 10. He was so extremely sad & our foster mum broke down crying with how pitiful he was & just wanted to be loved & get out of the scary shelter in CA. Despite the fact he needed out we could not bare to leave him there. We rescued this beautiful little lad & thank goodness we did when we did because it was evident that someone had been very cruel to Wilson. Without his outstanding foster mum, this would not of happened for Wilson. Wilson who is now looking for his very own forever home & who will never give up on him again & dump him & love him just as his foster mum in CA & his foster mum in WA here does too along with us. After we rescued Wilson he was bought back to WA state from CA where he can’t wait to find him his loving forever home. The absolute insanity to think this baby doll ended up in one of the highest kill shelters in CA is soul destroying. Wilson just wants to be loved. Disturbing to think no one wanted him & he was ready to die. The level of absolute madness here is so deeply sad for many of these beautiful souls out of CA kill shelters. When we first rescued him, he went & laid down & slept & slept & knew he was now safe. In his foster home he eats clean. Fruits, vegetables, grains, raw meat & other proteins along with supplements. He also adores a good treat. Wilson is a very soft gentle soul, he is so easy his foster mum said considering what he has endured. His foster mum said Wilson is a very sweet dog & loves his humans once he knows them but does not want his head touched at all until he is comfortable with you. We don’t know if someone was hitting him on the head. This boy will look at you with so much gratitude & admiration. He also loves to be with his buddies & just lay with them or do whatever they are doing. But will play & play with some dogs. He loves everyone he meets after he knows them & feels comfortable with them. It’s imperative that Wilson come to you & smell you first. He also enjoys snuggling up on the couch & will jump on the couch & spend his day relaxing. He enjoys sleeping on the couch & sleeping in bed with you at night. His foster mums along with us still cannot believe someone would be so cruel & neglectful to Wilson. Wilson’s new forever home must have a fully fenced secured backyard for his safety. He enjoys going out into the backyard in his foster home & having a wander around. Wilson has been great with his baths because he started having them with us in his loving foster home the moment he was rescued so he is used to them. He has also started getting used to being dried with a hairdryer. He will just let you dry him. He loves his foster mum & dad & his foster friends. He has put on a good amount of weight since being in his loving foster homes. Wilson rides beautifully in the car & enjoys a good journey & will sit in his car seat next to you with his dog friends. He also enjoys looking out the window. Wilson is a wonderful walker on his collar & leash & loves going on many walks. He absolutely hates harness’s & makes it very clear to not put one on him. A collar is no problems at all. We are looking for a forever home for Wilson where someone is home during the day or he can go with his people wherever possibly he can go with them. We are also looking for a crate free home for the little lad only. He was left in a cage in the shelter until we rescued him. Wilson is looking for a forever home who will cherish him & love him as he should be loved & be patient with him. Wilson has been around many breeds of dogs all shapes & sizes & he is currently with other dogs & fostered with other dogs in his foster home & does well with them & enjoys their company. He absolutely needs another dog in his forever home for him to thrive. Wilson is roughly 6 - 7 years old. He is 16.4 lbs & is perhaps a westie maltese mix, what he is mixed with we are not sure at all. He is male, now neutered, had a dental scale & polish along & had 10 teeth removed. He is microchipped, up to date on his shots, including DHPP, Bordatella, rabies & dewormed. Once these shots expire we do not redo them only rabies as we do not over vaccinate our beloved dogs. Wilson has not been around cats since being in the rescue but it’s always up to the new family to be responsible with their animals together. We have not had him around small children in the rescue but we absolutely do not recommend children nor cats & it’s always up to the family to be responsible with their children. We were not there when Wilson was conceived so we do not know who his parents were & it’s always up to the new potential family to look at the pictures & decide what they think his breed is. As with all of our rescues & Wilson’s friends he will need work on potty training & training, so this should be something the new family would be willing to work on & commit to. Please do not submit an application if you are not willing to commit to one of our rescues care for their whole life & that includes if they need training. Please do not email us asking is Wilson potty trained or available, nor do we ship dogs anywhere as we will not respond. We would never say anyone of our rescues are potty trained. Our rescues need homes where the people are understanding of their past & what they have been through & what they will need in their daily lives & not willing to give up on them & if they do need training in their new home will in fact take them to training & not just say they will when applying. Wilson has been through many traumas in his short time on this earth so when applying this needs to be kept in mind & for his care. Please only submit an application if you are truly interested in adopting Wilson & going through our process and have read his listing fully to the end & are wanting to adopt. If you are not responsive to our calls, emails or your references do not respond we will move on & remove your application from our system. You must be willing to go through our screening process which includes your references being checked, a phone interview & a virtual home visit due to covid & followed by a meet and greet & if it’s a good fit, up to our discretion. We will only be accepting applications for Wilson who understands his needs & that meet all the requirements for this spirited little lad. Once we find the right home for each little soul we work fast, within days so the dogs can go to their forever homes in quite a timely manner. We do not hold onto dogs for people as our goal is to save lives & please do not submit an application if you are not ready to adopt. We also cannot respond to every application unfortunately. Wilson has an adoption fee of $850 & is ready for his truly loving forever home & compassion & understanding of what he has been through.
