✨ Meet Emma — Proof that joy can survive anything ✨ If you want to meet a dog whose soul defies everything she’s been through… meet Emma. Found as a stray in Mexico with only patches of fur left after severe mange, this little girl is living, wagging proof that happiness lies within, no matter the circumstances. At just 3.5 years old, Emma has already endured more than most dogs ever will. People walked past her. People looked away. Some still do — because her skin still has a few bald spots, and that’s all they see. But what they miss is everything that makes Emma extraordinary: 💛 The way she lights up a room with her fast, joyful spins when it’s mealtime 💛 How she leaps with pure happiness every time she sees you 💛 The gentle way she tucks herself against your side, asking for nothing but love 💛 Her resilience, her softness, her unbroken spirit Emma is still shy and crouches when someone approaches too quickly or when loud noises remind her of a past she should’ve never had. Only she knows what people did to her before she was rescued… but even after all of that, she chose to trust again. And now she deserves the best home in the whole wide world. One filled with patience, kindness, tenderness, and someone who understands that healing takes time — but loving her comes easy. Emma is safe. She is loved. And she is ready for her forever person. If you see her heart before her scars, you’ll never find a more loyal, grateful, or beautiful companion.

Story
We are all volunteers and can't respond to inquiries about dogs. If you are interested in one of our pups, please fill out an application and submit it for review. If you are good match with the dog chosen, someone will reach out for next steps. If you are not a match with the chosen dog, we may reach out to ask if yoi would be interested in another pup. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Sasha was found in a sewer trying to protect her puppies. We don't know how long she was there, but her puppies didn't make it. She was living poorly and nobody cared for her or her needs. Sh was finally rescued by our sister rescue in Guadalajara where she is slowly learning to trust and be social with people and dogs. She has completed her protocol and is ready to find her family! She is now doing so much better and would love to find a family of her own where people include her in daily activities and don't leave her hours on end by herself.

The oh so spirited & full of personality Slinky ended up in a death camp of a scary shelter in CA. He looked absolutely defeated & so extremely frightened. He was posted online on social media begging for his life to be saved as he was going to be euthanized. He was out of time. He was posted looking a lot thinner than he is now, he had so much fur missing & obviously neglected. We could not let him lose his life & we were the only ones who showed interest in saving him. Slinky came back to WA state from CA where he can’t wait to find a home to love him. The absolute insanity to think this amazing soul ended up in one of the highest kill shelters in CA is soul destroying. Slinky just wants to be loved. The level of absolute madness here is so deeply sad for many of these beautiful souls out of CA kill shelters. He is uncertain of new people at first, then he is your best friend once he knows you. We do know his finder did grab him quickly on the streets in CA & it was not a good experience for him & he nipped the finder because he was frightened. When we first rescued him, he ate multiple bowls of food as if he is making up for lost time. In his foster home he eats clean. Fruits, vegetables, grains, raw meat & other proteins along with supplements. He also adores a good treat which are homemade. When it’s time to eat he gets very excited & can jump high with enthusiasm over & over again & will let you know he wants his food. He does get excited now & has a big zest for life, love & adventure. This boy will look at you with so much gratitude & admiration & his foster mum said he is really such a good & smart boy. He loves everyone he meets after he knows them & enjoys being cuddled & given love. He also enjoys snuggling up on the couch & spend his day relaxing. He enjoys sleeping on the couch & sleeping in bed with you at night. If he is sleeping on the couch & a dog annoys him, he will let them know & go mad at them for waking him up. His foster mum still cannot believe someone would abandon him as he is so lovely & can be carried around & enjoys his belly being rubbed & will fall asleep while doing it. Slinky new forever home must have a fully fenced secured backyard. He enjoys going out into the backyard in his foster home & having a wander around & sunning himself. Slinky has been great with his baths because he started having them with us in his loving foster homes the moment he was rescued so he is used to them. He has also started getting used to being dried with a hairdryer. He will stand up & hug you while drying him. He has put on a good amount of weight since being in his loving foster home & was so thin when first rescued. Slinky rides beautifully in the car & enjoys a good journey & will sit in his car seat next to you with his dog friends. He also enjoys looking out the window. Slinky still needs work walking on his harness & leash & is still learning. We are looking for a forever home for Slinky where someone is home during the day or he can go with his people wherever possibly he can go with them. We are also looking for a crate free home for the little lad only. We cannot stress this enough that due to the trauma he experienced at the shelter he must not be put into a crate. He loses his mind. He was left in a cage in the shelter until we rescued him. Slinky is looking for a forever home who will cherish him & love him as he should be loved & be patient with him. Slinky has been around many breeds of dogs all shapes & sizes & he is currently with other dogs & fostered with other dogs in his foster home & does well with them & enjoys their company. He absolutely needs another dog in his forever home for him to thrive. He will play with any size dog that is up for his playing. Slinky is roughly 1 year old & 10.4 lbs, he is male, & possibly a carin terrier mix. He is now neutered & had a dental cleaning. He is microchipped, up to date on his shots, including DHPP, Bordatella, rabies & dewormed. Once these shots expire we do not redo them only rabies as we do not over vaccinate our beloved dogs. Slinky has not been around cats since being in the rescue but it’s always up to the new family to be responsible with their animals together. We have not had him around small children in the rescue so we do not recommend children nor cats & it’s always up to the family to be responsible with their children. We were not there when Slinky was conceived so we do not know who his parents were & it’s always up to the new potential family to look at the pictures & decide what they think his breed is. As with all of our rescues & Slinky’s friends he will need work on potty training & training, so this should be something the new family would be willing to work on & commit to. Please do not submit an application if you are not willing to commit to one of our rescues care for their whole life & that includes if they need training. Please do not email us asking is Slinky potty trained or available, nor do we ship dogs anywhere as we will not respond. We would never say anyone of our rescues are potty trained. Our rescues need homes where the people are understanding of their past & what they have been through & what they will need in their daily lives & not willing to give up on them & if they do need training in their new home will in fact take them to training & not just say they will when applying. Slinky has been through many traumas in his short time on this earth so when applying this needs to be kept in mind & for his care. Please only submit an application if you are truly interested in adopting Slinky & going through our process and have read his listing fully to the end & are wanting to adopt. If you are not responsive to our calls, emails or your references do not respond we will move on & remove your application from our system. You must be willing to go through our screening process which includes your references being checked, a phone interview & a virtual home visit due to covid & followed by a meet and greet & if it’s a good fit, up to our discretion. We will only be accepting applications for Slinky who understands his needs & that meet all the requirements for this spirited little lad. Once we find the right home for each little soul we work fast, within days so the dogs can go to their forever homes in quite a timely manner. We do not hold onto dogs for people as our goal is to save lives & please do not submit an application if you are not ready to adopt. We also cannot respond to every application unfortunately. Slinky has an adoption fee of $850 & is ready for his truly loving forever home & compassion & understanding of what he has been through.

Story
Meet Mari! Mari is a female Cairn Terrier mix who can’t wait to find her new forever home. Weighing a petite18 lbs, Mari is gentle, sweet, and loving. She is approximately 5 years old. She is spayed, and up to date on her shots. Cairn Terriers are known for their charming, spirited, and bold personalities. Mari is both playful and affectionate. She is a good fit if you appreciate liveliness and snuggling.  She has plenty of energy and loves to play, making her a joy for families and active individuals.  Cairn Terriers are intelligent and can seem stubborn. She is smart and learns quickly. She can also be a bit independent-minded. Consistent training is key!  What makes Mari wonderful is her curious and adventurous attitude. Her inquisitive nature makes her a natural explorer. Mari is loyal and she likes to form strong bonds with her family.  She likes to stay close and always knows where home is. One of Mari’s favorite pastimes is a good snooze on cozy dog beds or comfy blankets.  She doesn’t mind sleeping with little disturbances in her own space. She can happily sleep in her own room and prefers her own bed.  Mari enjoys a good brushing, and it relaxes her instantly.   Despite Mari’s small size, she has a big, fearless attitude which is common in Cairn Terriers.   Mari is brave and confident. She often thinks of herself as much larger than she is. She’s good with other dogs in the dog park. However, she is known to dominate other dogs who look like her.  She also enjoys some time in front of the mirror and appreciates her reflection.  Because of Mari’s dominant nature, she is leash reactive.   She is fine with other dogs when her leash is not attached but will become more assertive if she is near another dog while on her leash.  Her leash reactivity needs work and she needs a competent handler who is motivated to help her learn. Mari loves tasty treats and will hold off on her scheduled meals in hopes of something worthy of her palate.  Mari does not have accidents inside. However, be watchful for the first five nights as she is sorting out her surroundings.   Mari is perfect for someone who enjoys an energetic, snuggly, and entertaining companion. Mari is not suitable for a home with smaller children. She likes her space at times and prefers a more calm setting. She is not suited for a home with cats or other small critters. Her adoption fee is $450   We cover the medical to prepare the pet for adoption and the adopt donations go directly to cover those costs and range from $295-$495.  Thank you for stepping up to save a life! To expedite to meet with this dog, please go to our site at www.savinggreatanimals.org and fill out an application. We look at the first applications to arrive, so we hope to hear from you soon! Story
FOREVER HOME NEEDED Meet Waylon — Your Dog’s New Best Friend! 🩵 Waylon is a 1-year-old, 10 LB terrier mix who’s equal parts adorable and full of energy! This sweet, playful little guy is ready to find a forever home where he can keep growing in confidence, make lots of new dog friends, and soak up all the love life has to offer. Waylon walks well on leash and is super friendly, but he’s still building up his confidence—and he’s come a long way already! He absolutely loves other dogs and would be happiest in a home with a playful canine buddy to wrestle with, learn from, and burn off that terrier energy. He can be a little mouthy when he gets excited and plays, so we are looking for an adult-only home or a home with children 12 years or older. He is doing great with his house training in his foster home as long as he is taken out for regular potty breaks. He loves to curl up and sleep with his humans at night. Waylon is looking for a home that will keep him well-socialized, continue his training, and give him plenty of opportunities to explore, play, and grow. He’s going to make a fun little companion for the right person—and an even better best friend to another playful pup! Waylon is UTD on vaccinations, microchipped, and neutered. His adoption fee is $500.
