Story
Meet Ahsoka! Ahsoka is a resilient and affectionate young pup who came to us after being diagnosed with puppy strangles (juvenile cellulitis), a rare autoimmune condition that causes swelling, sores, and hair loss around the face and neck. With early medical intervention and lots of TLC, Ahsoka is already responding well to treatment and showing her playful, loving personality. Despite her rough start, Ahsoka is a social butterfly! She’s lived happily with large and small dogs, cats, and children, making her a great fit for a variety of households. Like any young pup, Ahsoka is still learning the ropes and will benefit from age-appropriate training—but she’s incredibly responsive and treat-motivated, making her a joy to work with. Ahsoka is sponsored by our friends at The Happy Beast, and as part of her adoption, her new family will receive a complimentary nutrition consultation to help her continue to thrive. If you're looking for a loyal companion who’s already overcome so much with courage and charm, Ahsoka may be your perfect match!

Story
This beautiful, soulful girl is Gretta—a resilient and loving Cane Corso mix who was rescued from a high-kill shelter in Texas. While she came in underweight, she’s gaining strength every day and blossoming into the happy, healthy pup she was meant to be. Gretta gets along wonderfully with other dogs and enjoys their company, though she’ll be the first to tell you she adores having one-on-one attention from her humans. She's a total doll—gentle, affectionate, and always wagging her little nubby tail. Gretta doesn't bat an eye at the resident feline, making her a great candidate for a multi-pet household. Whether she’s lounging quietly or leaning in for some well-earned cuddles, Gretta will fill your home with loyalty, love, and tail-wagging joy. Gretta’s forever family will be lucky to have her—could that be yours? Gretta was rescued from a high kill shelter in Texas. Meet and greets are by appointment only.  An approved application is required to schedule a meeting. Check out our events page for upcoming open adoption events! We have no additional back story or update for this dog at this time.  When we do, it will be updated here.  This is all the information we have currently. Approved Applicants may make the adoption fee payment by clicking donate above.  Partial adoption fees will not hold a dog. Dogs adopted with our rescue come with FREE training from #GoodPup to help you build strong bonds from the start! If upon meeting the dog of your choosing at your scheduled pickup time you find that you aren't a good match, your deposit will be fully refunded. Adoption fees include vaccines up until time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and 1st 30 days of free pet insurance.  We are not affiliated with MetLife pet insurance. (you have to sign up for the insurance or it will not go into effect).  Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets. The dogs in our care are fostered in Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico.  While all dogs are picked up during our scheduled times, sometimes transport dates change due to unforeseen circumstances.   More questions?  Read our FAQs here: https://4p4l.org/faqs/  Breed labels are a "best guess" by a shelter veterinarian and cannot be guaranteed.  A new study has concluded that (in layman's terms), breed assumption is NOT indicative of behavior in mixed breed dogs.  Therefore, if a dog looks presumably to be a German Shepherd breed, one cannot assume the dog will have a high prey drive.  From the study: "Although many physical traits were associated with breeds, behavior was much more variable among individual dogs. In general, physical trait heritability was a greater predictor of breed but was not necessarily a predictor of breed ancestry in mutts. Among behavioral traits, biddability—how well dogs respond to human direction—was the most heritable by breed but varied significantly among individual dogs. Thus, dog breed is generally a poor predictor of individual behavior and should not be used to inform decisions relating to selection of a pet dog" - https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/science.abk0639 ##2384078##

Story
Gotti is a giant beautiful boy. He is 2 years old and came to our rescue when his owner passed away very unexpectedly. He is a big sweetheart. He love women and it's a little scared of men at first but warms up quickly with treats, no aggression just usually hides behind me when new people come til he is sure it's safe. He wants to be right in your lap and with his human as much as possible. He is extremely drooly as most mastiffs are so if you can't handle drool he is not the dog for you. He is great with other dogs!
