Story
Ida is a six-year-old, pure bred Cane Corso. Originally from Panama, she is a gentle, loyal, and adaptable dog. She is house-trained and loves to snuggle. She is highly trained and responsive to firm cues. A classic Cane Corso, she is gentle by nature but very protective. She is very playful around friendly dogs and defensive around aggressive dogs. She makes both a great guard dog and a loyal companion. Ida is a loving part of our family, and we are looking for a family that has ample outdoor space, a dedication to loving big dogs, and a willingness to open their home and hearts to our girl. It breaks our heart to say goodbye but because of flight restrictions for her breed, it is proving very difficult to bring her overseas with us as we are relocating for work. We look forward to working with you to assess if your home situation is a good fit for our girl.

Story
Meet Bruce! He’s a 3-year-old, neutered male, Cane Corso mix weighing about 67 lbs. Bruce was relinquished to us due to housing issues. He has a scary, loud bark when someone approaches his kennel so he would be great at deterring bad guys! Even though he might seem tough, he’s a sweetheart who enjoys affection and gets along with other dogs.

Story
If adopters interested in Horace are currently renting, they will need to provide written proof from their landlord confirming that Cane Corsos are allowed on the property. Meet Horace — an 82-pound, 2-year-old Cane Corso with a big heart and an even bigger love for attention. Horace is sweet, friendly, and happiest when he’s soaking up all the love from his people. Whether it’s belly rubs, head scratches, or just being by your side, he’s always ready to be the center of your world. Horace is also very food motivated, which makes him eager to learn and fun to work with. He walks well on a leash and enjoys getting out for strolls and spending time with his humans. Horace would prefer to be the one-and-only dog in the home, where he can enjoy all the attention for himself. However, he may do well with calmer canine companions. Any potential dog siblings will need a meet-and-greet at the shelter to make sure everyone is a good fit. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate companion who will happily shower you with love and soak up every bit of attention in return, Horace may be your perfect match. ------ Before being rescued, many of our dogs had limited socialization, so they may need some time to adjust to life as a family pet. Older kids are often a great fit for our dogs, and homes with younger children will be considered based on each dog’s individual needs. Skills like house training and leash walking may take a little extra patience and practice. However, with understanding and a gentle hand, most of these dogs adapt quite quickly. Being a part of their rehabilitation is a truly rewarding experience. To learn more about mill dogs and start the adoption process, visit our website!

Story
Say hello to Tinkerbell - this sweet Cane Corso girl is estimated to be about 2 yrs old and originally came from California to start a new life in Colorado. She's naturally suspicious of strangers and doesn't always shine at first meeting, but warms to calm and gentle understanding of her special breed. Once she knows you, she enjoys attention and getting out for sniffy walks. She would do best as the only pet in the home. And just given her size and strength, it would also be best to have a calm and stable home without small children. Tinkerbell recently had corrective surgery for "cherry eye" in both eyes, and may need another vet visit to further correct (cost will be covered by Big Bones), but is otherwise ready to open the next chapter in life with her hero. Is it you? Previous handling experience with Cane Corso or other guardian breeds is advised. They require: - A structured home - Clear leadership - Firm (but fair) boundaries - Consistency every single day - An owner who understands canine behavior (not just “loves dogs”) -An owner who knows how to anticipate and manage their protective instinct
