Story
Hi, I’m Gwen and I'm ready to find my forever home. Dog’s Name: Gwen Location: Bourbonnais, IL Date of Birth: 10/13/2025 Gender: Female Breed: Cane Corso Color: Black Dog's Weight: 55 Gets Along With: Dogs?: All Dogs Cats?: All Cats Kids?: All Kids Training:  Leash Trained: Walks loose leash Crate Trained: Goes to crate/kennel on command Potty Training: We're working on it, and making progress Car: Rides well in the car Meet Gwen – Your Gentle Giant in the Making Gwen is really starting to come out of her shell, and it has been such a joy to watch her personality bloom! She’s the perfect mix of playful puppy and total couch potato. She loves a good play session but is just as happy curling up next to her people for cozy snuggles. Sweet as can be, Gwen enjoys going on little adventures — especially walks and outings with her family. She’s curious about the world but looks to her people for reassurance, making her a wonderful companion for someone who enjoys having a loyal sidekick by their side. Gwen already knows sit and lay and is continuing to make progress with potty training. She’s also doing great with crate training and settles in nicely at night. Smart and eager to please, she’s especially motivated by toys and sticks — forget the treats, this girl is all about her treasures! She adores kids, doesn’t mind cats, and enjoys other dogs. In fact, Gwen would truly benefit from having another dog in the home to help her continue building confidence and to serve as a built-in playmate. Gwen will likely grow into a very large dog, so her ideal home is one that’s prepared for a big pup and committed to continuing her training and socialization. With her gentle, easygoing temperament and growing confidence, she has the potential to become an incredible, loyal companion. If you’re ready for a big, snuggly best friend with a playful spirit and a heart of gold, Gwen might just be your girl. Hi, I’m Periwinkle and I’m ready to find my forever home! Keep scrolling to learn more about me and see if you may be my match. Dog’s Name: Periwinkle Location: Chicago, IL Date of Birth: 02/01/2023 Gender: Female Breed: Cane Corso Color: Fawn Dog's Weight: 65 Gets along with: Dogs?: Yes - with a slow introduction Cats?:  Unknown Kids?: All kids Training: Leash trained: We're working on it Crate/Kennel:  We're working on it Potty trained: Indicates a need to potty and doesn’t have indoor accidents Car:  We're working on it Meet Periwinkle Periwinkle is a deeply affectionate, people-oriented girl who thrives on closeness and connection. She seeks constant reassurance from her humans and will happily lean into you for snuggles, follow you from room to room, and curl up nearby just to know you’re there. Being close to her people is where she feels safest, and she truly bonds with her person. She’s incredibly intelligent — sometimes too smart for her own good — and has figured out how to open doors and food containers. Periwinkle is food-motivated and eager to learn, making her very responsive to positive reinforcement and treats. She enjoys running alongside you and does so politely, and she’ll let you know if someone enters the space or if she needs to go outside to potty. She’s also wonderfully kid-friendly and does great with children of all ages. Periwinkle does struggle with separation anxiety and can become distressed when left alone. Because of this, she needs a home where someone is around most of the time and can continue working patiently on confidence-building and independence. She may bark to alert and can be reactive toward other dogs, but with slow, thoughtful introductions she can coexist well — especially with dogs smaller than herself. Periwinkle needs an experienced, patient owner who is home frequently and understands anxiety and dog reactivity, and who can support her as she learns to feel safe and secure. A fenced yard is helpful but not required if her exercise and enrichment needs are met. While she may not be ideal for a first-time giant or anxious-dog owner, Periwinkle will absolutely flourish with the right person — rewarding them with unwavering loyalty, intelligence, and endless affection. If you’re looking for a constant companion who wants nothing more than to be by your side, Periwinkle just might be your perfect match. Story
Hi, I’m Olaf....but without a carrot as a nose! I am settling in and ready to find my forever family. Keep reading to learn more about me! Dog’s Name: Olaf Location:  Plano, Il Date of Birth: 07/11/2023 Gender: Male Breed: Cane Corso Color: Black Dog's Weight: 125 Gets along with: Dogs?: All Dogs  Cats?:  Unknown Kids?:  Older kids Training: Leash Trained: We're working on it Crate Trained: We're working on it Potty Trained:  We're working on it and making progress Knows sit and lay down Meet Olaf Olaf’s story is nothing short of incredible. This big, brave boy was rescued by a Good Samaritan after falling through the ice of a pond. After spending two months in a shelter, Olaf is now learning what it truly means to be a house dog again—and he is embracing his second chance with his whole heart. Olaf is completely overjoyed by toys. Stuffed animals beware—he loves tossing them in the air and can happily entertain himself for hours. He enjoys fetch and is learning tug-of-war (he hasn’t quite figured out the “tug” part yet!). His playful spirit is contagious, and his enthusiasm for life is unmatched. That said, Olaf is EXTREMELY strong and currently has no leash skills. He will need consistent, confident handling and ongoing training. He is working on his manners and learning quickly—he already sits and lays down on command. Potty training is a work in progress, but he's doing well.   Olaf loves affection and will happily press his strong body against you or tuck himself under your legs just to be close. While he may look intimidating, he is truly a soft-hearted boy who wants nothing more than to be your shadow and soak up attention. He is weary of men so will require a slow introduction to adult men at this time. Olaf needs a strong, experienced giant-breed owner committed to continued training.  Due to his size and strengh, a home with a securely fenced yard and older children is best.   He is not recommended for a first-time giant-breed owner. Olaf will thrive with structure, leadership, and someone who understands the strength and needs of a large working dog. With guidance and consistency, he will continue to mature into a loyal, devoted companion. Olaf has survived the cold—now he’s ready for a warm, forever home.
