Freida Deserves a Fresh Start – Could You Be Her Forever Home? Sweet Freida has faced a challenging beginning in life, but we believe her journey is far from over. Rescued from a distressing living situation alongside her mother and siblings, this two-year-old girl has demonstrated remarkable resilience. Freida spent five months at our facility and has been thriving in a foster home for over five months. She is making great strides with house breaking and obedience, mastering commands such as sit, down, paw, and stay. Living and playing with well-balanced dogs has helped her build confidence. While she can feel anxious around new people and dogs, once she warms up to you, she becomes a loyal companion and a cuddle buddy for life. What Freida Needs: • An experienced dog owner who understands how to support shy or reserved pups • Patience and love • A home without children

Sheeba & Annubus (Bonded Pair)'s Story Meet Annubus and Sheeba! A bonded pair of stunning Cane Corsos looking for a forever home together! Annubus and Sheeba are a pair of 2 year old Cane Corsos who came to us after a change in their family’s living situation. These two were very well cared for and it shows. Not just in their beautiful appearance, but in their gentle and loving personalities. Annibus, a neutered male, is respectful and calm. Despite his impressive size, he’s a gentle soul who loves being close to his people. Sheeba, a spayed female, is sweet, loyal, and did wonderfully living with young children in her previous home. She’s dog selective but absolutely adores her brother, and the two share a strong, inseparable bond. Because of how close they are, we’re looking for a home where Annibus and Sheeba can stay together. They balance each other perfectly and will make a loyal, loving addition to an experienced Cane Corso home. Breed experience and a meet and greet with any resident dogs are required to ensure the best match. If you’re ready to open your heart and home to this amazing duo, apply today at almosthomeli.org.

Story
Meet Bowser, a 4-year-old Cane Corso with a heart as big as his paws and a gentle soul that`s been through more than he lets on. Found overnight by local police with no tags, no microchip, and a leg injury (bilateral hip dysplasia) that is on-going so he would need an owner who is committed to his care. Bowser arrived at the shelter a little timid but still full of quiet hope. Despite everything, Bowser has remained incredibly sweet and tolerant. He’s a bit cautious at first, but friendly and eager to connect. He walks well on leash, sits on command, and enjoys being pet. He’s the kind of dog who says a lot with soft eyes and quiet company rather than barking or bouncing. Bowser isn’t into toys or rowdy play but enjoys calm companionship. He passed his dog test with flying colors, polite, tolerant, and happy to simply stroll alongside his furry friends without needing to be the center of attention. This sweet boy would do best in a calm home with respectful kids 12+ and a family that will give him the love, security, and healing he deserves. Bowser may not be the loudest or the flashiest, but he just might be the most loyal heart you’ll ever meet. Come meet this gentle giant he’s ready to find the peace and love he’s been missing. If you are interested in learning more contact our placement team at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter:E: Adoption@hempsteadny.govE: Foster@hempsteadny.govE: Rescue@hempsteadny.govT. 516.785.5220#Adoptme #Adoption #adoptionistheoption #adoptable #cutepup #longislanddogparents #ifitaintpit #mixedbreed #petitepup #rescued #rescuedog #rescuedogsofinstagram #instadog #dogstagram #dogs #doggo #shelterdogs #shelterpups #takemehometoday #dogoftheday #dogsofnewyork #nycdogs #longislanddogs #canecorso #canecorsorescue #canecorsoforadoption

Story
If you are a Cane Corso lover, meet this gorgeous girl Layla also affectionately known by her foster family as "Nami" short for Tsunami. She is an absolute tidal wave of love and affection! Her sweet and playful disposition has quickly melted the hearts of every human she has met. "Nami's" foster family has taken her in and has learned so much about this beautiful Cane. She is loving, affectionate and very smart! She has been responding to obedience training well, is fully house trained and sleeps quietly in her crate through the night. "Nami" has spurts of playful puppy energy, loves her toys and enjoys being outside. She is responding very well to leash training and enjoys a nice long walk! She also has an adorable goofy side and when she shakes or moves too quickly, resembles Scooby Doo! "Nami" is a true Cane Corso and would do best with a family that has experience and appreciation for this incredible breed and, as the one and only Queen of the castle. She is incredibly loyal and this is reflected in her attentiveness to her humans. She is the total package and will be an incredible addition to your home!
