Story
Meet Tyson – Your Next Best Friend! Tyson is a 2-year-old Cane Corso/Poodle mix with the best of both breeds: smart, loving, and full of personality. At about 80 lbs, he's a big cuddlebug who’s happiest by your side- whether that means going for long walks, playing outside, or curling up on the couch for some snuggles and snacks (he loves his treats!). This handsome guy is: - Neutered - Up to date on all vaccines - Healthy and low-shedding - Needs grooming every ~10-12 weeks. Tyson thrives in a home where he can be the only dog and get plenty of attention. He’s not a fan of other dogs, but he loves people and would do best with older kids who can match his energy and respect his space. A fenced yard or an active owner who can take him on daily walks would be ideal - he has energy to burn and loves being outside. Tyson is looking for someone who wants a loyal, affectionate companion. If you’ve got time, love, and maybe a comfy couch to spare, Tyson could be the perfect fit!

Story
Theo is absolutely stunning—with his silvery fawn coat, soulful light eyes, and regal presence, he looks every bit the noble Cane Corso. But behind that striking exterior is a gentle, tender boy who just wants to connect. At first, Theo can be shy about getting on leash, but with a little patience and encouragement, he blossoms into a wonderful walking companion. He doesn’t pull much, loves his treats, and is quick to make eye contact with his person. This handsome guy already knows “sit” and “paw,” and once he’s comfortable, his playful side begins to shine through. Theo came into the shelter with two other Cane Corsos—one thought to be his mom—and volunteers believe he may be younger than originally noted. With consistency, love, and a safe place to land, Theo will grow into a deeply loyal best friend. Precious, handsome, and full of heart—Theo is waiting to meet the person who will see the gem he truly is. 💙

Story
Bella's journey is a testament to the power of resilience! 🌟 From a rough start to a blooming beauty, she's thriving in her foster home. 🏠 This energetic pup loves playing fetch and has mastered commands like "drop it", and “crate”. Due to her past traumas, she will need an understanding family to help her continue to grow as she is still weary of strangers. Foster mom doesn’t have kids, but Bella would probably do best with older kids as she doesn’t know her own size and is learning to keep all 4 on the floor. Can you be the family Bella needs to thrive?

Meet Molly, a shining star who embodies the spirit of a puppy! 🌟 With her boundless energy and youthful enthusiasm, she's a breath of fresh air. And the best part? She's already mastered the basics, like sitting and being impeccably house trained. This sweet girl has been socialized to perfection, thriving in the company of other dogs and living for playtime. At around six or seven years young, Molly's finally experiencing the life she deserves, free from her past as a breeding dog. Now, she's savoring every moment, indulging in her favorite foods and basking in the love of her people. ❤️ 📍Currently fostered in Mt. Rainier, MD

Story
PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.Johnny I dont know if I've ever seen a more beautiful dog. Johnny is a Neapolitan Mastiff (possibly mixed?) who is about 2 years old and weighs 120 lbs. He is the sweetest, big slobbery dummy! He thinks hes a 10 lb baby and wants to sit on your lap. He is super friendly with everyone he meets, but he has no idea how big he is, so probably wouldnt be the best choice for a family with toddler size humans. He is so kind hearted and wouldn't dream of hurting anyone on purpose. Hes just big and clumsy and hasn't had any training. We are gonna work on the training part as soon as he recovers from his neuter surgery, which was done today. Johnny was found as a starving stray in Arkansas. His stray hold is long over and no one ever came forward to claim him. He had no ID and no microchip. His rescue photo, which shows the condition he was in, is attached. He holds no grudges for his past neglect and hardships. He loves and trusts everyone. Since coming into rescue, he hasn't been introduced to many other dogs, but the limited exposure he has had was positive anf he gave no indication of aggression. We will be exploring that more now that he is neutered. I believe with proper introduction, he will do fine with other non aggressive dogs. Johnny was fully vetted today and thankfully he tested negative for heartworms. He does have the very loose skin typical of Neo Mastiffs, which may require surgery later in life. As of now, our vet didn't feel it was necessary. His eyelids droop but they don't cover his eyes and he is fully visual. But as he ages, this may need to be revisited. Johnny is definitely one of a kind, and he is not a dog that is found in rescue very often. I hope he will get adopted quickly so he can start to get adjusted to his new life and family of his own. Hes a total catch!Johnny is located in Arkansas. He can be adopted locally, but transport is available to the New England area as well. Adopter must be able to pick up or arrange for someone to pick up for them in PA, NY, or CT on Saturdays. To apply, please fill out the adoption app: https://form.jotform.com/212690945239059 Message us or email apps.aasr@gmail.com with any questions.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Our typical adoption fee for puppies younger than 6 months old is $400, and for older puppies and adults, the usual fee is $350. This includes microchip, spay/neuter,  up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, dewormings, flea/tick treatment, and heartworm test (if over 6 months old) as well as heartworm treatment if they test positive. There is a transport fee of $150 per dog, depending on the transporter. We use Pack Leaders Rescue Dog Transport most often, but also use Hearts Transport as well on occasion. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hey all, I'm Sheila, a 60# gal 3 years old thought to be an Anatolian Shepherd mix of something!  Left at my disabled 'Grandma's House' by owners, Grandma had no way to care for me correctly. After a few months of trying, she turned me into a shelter in WV. Unfortunately Grandma didn't know it was a High Kill Shelter. YIKES! Double YIKES!! Fortunately, word went out far and wide, SAVE SHEILA, SAVE SHEILA! Cries were heard and I'm now in a loving foster home in Dillsburg. Got other doggie friends here to show me the ropes and I'm doing fine per foster mom/dad.  I did get my Christmas wish and was adopted, but sadly, I was returned ON CHRISTMAS! Not the gift I was looking for. The family, though nice, didn't know their abilities to walk a gal with energy. Yes, I admit I need walking skills yet, but foster mom, though old and gray, is able to walk me NO ISSUES. Guess we all are different. So, here's my story, Sad to be returned but that perfect family is out there!  Good with other dogs, people, children (not toddlers) I do admit my 'Zest for Life' does get the better of me with excitement with life it's self! Smart as a whip already knowing sit, down, give both paws, am crate trained & house trained, I do have a little stubborn streak thrown in for good measures! Now learning Patients, Sit and Wait at door and to eat. I do pull on a leash, but can learn or use of a Halti would stop that no problem.  NO Way am I going to be protective. So far I've shown only friendliness, kiss giving and a 'Lets Party Attitude' to new people.  My recall has improved but a Physical Fence/Underground Fence would be best for me. I am VERY FOOD MOTIVATED!  Life is short let's Start the New Year with a BANG Together!  Interested in meeting me?  Complete an on-line application at www.CastawayCritters.org/adopt. Pa Kennel License: 04736Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 29, 2025, 11:16 pm
