Bubba is looking for their forever home!
WHAT MY FOSTER SAYS: Bubba is a gentle giant with a heart full of love and a sweet personality. He is gentle when taking treats, knows basic commands like 'sit,' and eagerly waits for meals and treats. He is highly trainable and attentive to voice commands, especially since he is food-motivated. He adores toys, particularly squeaky or crinkly ones, and can entertain himself for hours. Once he trusts you, Bubba turns into an extremely loving boy. He LOVES pets, especially under his chin or on his chest, and being cuddled. Understandably, he isn't a big fan of things or people looming over him, so consent checks when petting his head are quite appreciated and will only get you even more cuddles in return.
Despite being blind due to progressive retinal atrophy, Bubba requires minimal additional care beyond yearly eye screenings. Blind dogs like Bubba make wonderful companions with a little adjustment. To help Bubba thrive, he needs a calm home, preferably with a yard, and a patient foster or adopter who can give him the time and space to settle in and build trust. Due to his blindness, Bubba can be a bit distrustful of strangers or other dogs, so there's no need to rush building new relationships. He also tends to be protective of those he knows, so training and providing attention/corrections to him and his behaviors would be helpful. He'll happily take some food or treats in exchange for this training.
Establishing a routine and showering him with love will help Bubba blossom into a loving companion. Once he learns your space, he isn't afraid to get comfortable and can easily navigate furniture or other obstacles. Bubba is a loveable bum who could entertain himself for hours with a good bone but absolutely adores a good cuddle. Due to his size and loss of eyesight, he would flourish with someone who can provide him with the necessary stability and training.
