Story
Elliot is a gentle, loving, and friendly dog. She was a rescue from Guam when she was a puppy. She’s a mixed breed. She prefers to stay inside and cuddle and love on people. She’s fine with other dogs, but needs time to accept them as family. She doesn’t need time with people, she’s willing to love you immediately. She tolerates cats, but I haven’t owned a cat to know if she would accept one as family. Elliot is curious about new things and people in her home. She’s smart and easily trainable. She already knows basic commands, and can adapt to new commands quickly. She loves to lay near her people and be ready for pets at a moments notice.

Story
This is Elliot II. She is very sweet and cuddly! Elliot is 10 years old, 40 lbs, and a mixed breed (Carolina dog maybe?). She was rescued from Guam with 2 other dogs when my sister was stationed there. When they moved to the States, Elliot fell in love with me so much that my sister let me keep her. Sheâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s been with me and part of my family for about 6 years.

Due to my personal health issues, Iâ&#194&#128&#194&#153m looking for a new home for Elliot. I still love her but she deserves a loving home that can take care of her.
Elliot is a friendly, sweet dog who likes to stay home and cuddle her humans. Sheâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s ok with other animals and children in the house. Iâ&#194&#128&#194&#153ve fostered other animals and sheâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s previously interacted with children. Elliot is happiest with adult humans.

She loves to get a lot of attention and then go lie down near her humans. An ideal home for Elliot would be one with adult humans, maybe older children, living in a home with a fenced-in yard and doggy door. Elliot doesnâ&#194&#128&#194&#153t like to go on walks. She is house-trained and knows several commands. Sheâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s treat-motivated and has learned several commands over the years, so sheâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s smart enough to learn more.

She takes heart medications because of a heart murmur, but she is asymptomatic (has no symptoms/issues).

Elliot is a really loving dog who deserves a loving home. If you think you would be able to love this adorable dog, please apply to adopt Elliot II today.

Story
Meet Troy Bolton!  He is  Athletic, Handsome and sometimes even shy!  He is about 2 years old and only weighs 30 lbs!  He needs a home and a yard with a fence like most dogs. He is good with dogs.  Currently he is with an older 10 lb female and plays well with same aged 60 lb dog!  Good with 14 yr old female – no younger kids in the Foster Family.  He is good in a car - he is finally getting used to it!  He is potty trained and doesn't mark. He is learning how to walk on a leash and getting better!  Troy would be best with older kids since he is not used to lots of noises. He is  skittish and shy. He is scared of everything inside and outside the house – almost as if he was just kept in a crate all day.  He needs an experienced dog family. He will warm up to you eventually if you sit on the patio step and let him come to you.  He needs to learn and trust and he wil and is with his foster family.  Once he warms up to you, he will play ball. He plays nice ball with the other 60 lb dog in the Foster Family – did not witness any aggression or fighting over the ball. He is still working on “drop it” but he will “sit” and wait for you to throw the ball – then he will fetch it. It would be ideal for him to have another dog to learn from and play with!   He is a sweet boy who is worth having a loving family love him and build his selfl confidence! ##1816160##

Story
Meet Xena! She is a 4 month old Carolina/Jindo, possibly some Husky mix that weighs 31 lbs. She came into the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 4/9 as a stray. Xena is full puppy energy! She enjoys playing with squeaky toys and making sure she gets plenty of petting and gives you lots of kisses! She has an outgoing happy personality, definitely a zest for life! She walks great on a leash, takes treats gently and even knows the sit command at her young age. If you would like to have a puppy join your family, its important to know she would need an active family that can provide her plenty of enrichment to keep her busy and give her the energy outlet she needs. Like going for walks or running in her own secured backyard. She would need to have toys and chew toys for her to enjoy. Walking past the other dogs barking at her she did not show any interest in them. If you do have another dog in the home please be sure to ask the shelter for a dog test. Xena is a lovely sweet girl that can't wait to find her own family that will help her grow into the best young lady she can be. Come meet this wonderful girl!

Story
Bo Bo has all the delightful characteristics of a young puppy... sloppy, wet kisses included! BoBo is a four month old 21 pound Carolina dog that arrived at the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 4/12 as a stray. He's spunky, lively, playful, curious, friendly, outgoing, and very loving! He already knows the sit command at such a young age! Is he smart or what? He obviously wants to please. He will need some guidance teaching him to take treats more gently. He loves stuffed toys. He went into the toy box and picked out a toy. He enjoyed chewing on it. He occasionally jumps on you wanting extra loving and affection. When I sat down he came to me. He even tried to get on my lap. He was intimidated by the other dogs barking at him. If you have another dog, we ask you to request a dog test from the shelter. He does not have a strong pull on the leash but sometimes gets tangled. BoBo would be the perfect dog for a young family. He would like playtime and cuddle time. The cuddle time would be in the house with his new loving family.

Story
>> Looking for a snuggly, smart, fun dog? Meet Fawn!! >> >> She is a precious young (estimated 2-3 years old) blonde Lab/husky mix who was stray in South Dallas area. Fawn has such an endearing personality- she is smart, very affectionate, loves to be social, and takes correction well while learning her manners. >> She entertains herself with a toys or a chewy, and is always eager for someone else to join her! She seems to love other dogs as well (small and large), but I would use caution while still introducing her to any other pets you have (as the case for ANY rescued pup!) >> >> Fawn has the cutest sploot and loves to lay with her legs froggy style on her belly. She will want to follow you around the house and snuggle up right next to you for belly scratches! >> >> She has been doing great at learning boundaries, has never had a potty/poop accident inside, and sleeps quietly through the night. She had been scared to go in a car, but has learned quickly car rides are fun, and now jumps freely into the car! It is unknown how she does with cats since finder/foster doesn't have them. She is hw+, but has been started on doxycycline and will start hw treatment very soon. >> >> Fawn is an amazing pup and deserves a loving home! Please consider giving this sweet girl her furever family! She's a vet & boarding favorite!! 50 pounds house trained Dog friendly

Story
Loki is a Sheba/ Chi breed. He is 15 lbs and about 6 years old.. Very friendly and quiet. He does not bark very at all. He really doesn’t even like to play with dog toys. He does love a good soft blanket and loves to snuggle with someone! He would do well with anyone that could give him attention and take him on walks. He is neutered and up to date on all his shots. He is super loving and ok with other dogs too.   Loki is housebroken.   He was originally pee pad trained, but he is also house broken.   Yes, he is crate trained.  I currently have a crate for him in my home and I use it. Yes, he is an excellent car rider!   He will lay down on the seat and not move until the car stops.  He not one of those dogs that likes to wander around the car.  He's very still when he rides. Does he do well with kids?  I really cannot answer this question.  My son is 17 years old and I don't have any smaller children. I believe he would be fine.  I will say this...he does feel threatened by larger dogs and prefers to either be the only dog in the house or have other dogs around him that are the same size.  I did have another dog around him he absolutely loved.  Boyfriend/Girlfiend kind of thing, same size. I can tell you a little bit about his 'past life' from what I've been told.  He was in a home where he belong to a younger adult (late teens/early 20's).  This younger adult was not very kind to Loki and neglected him at times.  What that "neglect" entailed, I do not know.  Loki IS scared of men until he gets to know you.  Then he's ok.  He also does not like loud noises at all. I have had him a little under a year now.  He is pretty loyal and will sit right by your side. He loves attention and will sit in your lap and snuggle with you.  He is a very expressionless dog.  He doesn't really wag his tail much or smile, but he will snuggle up a storm with you.  I always say, he's always got just a blank look on his face.  Sometimes I laugh because he looks like he's gonna cry.  He'll give you the sad puppy eyes. .  Loki had a bath and nail grind last week on Tuesday at Petsmart.  I take him on a regular basis.  His hair does not really get long enough to cut.  He's got that kind of fur that stay pretty short.   Ohh and Loki is 8 years old. ##1975046##

IF YOU APPLY and if WE APPROVE YOU it means we are assuming when you meet any of our dogs and fall in love you're ready to ADOPT AND HIM OR HER HOME!   Pretty Peppy PIXIE Pixie is a 4-5 month old Basenji mix who is a petite 15lbs. Pixie has a heart-shaped mark on her forehead that perfectly matches how loving of a dog she is. She does not know a stranger and just wants love and attention. Pixie has the typical energy level for her breed. She enjoys walks which definitely help release some of her puppy energy and she does well on a leash. Some days she will still want to play after a walk - she would be a great companion for a larger young male dog. Pixie loves to be petted, going on walks, playing catch, giving kisses, and she knows basic commands like sit and paw. I also have gotten her to spin a few times as well, so she is a quick learner. She is eager to please and we are confident that anyone that meets her will instantly love her. Pixie does not know a stranger and just wants love and attention. To know her is to love her; the family who found her wishes they had the lifestyle that would be good for her and they are very sad not to be able to keep her. When Pixie was found running stray she jumped right into the arms of her temporary family and thanked them with kisses. Their teacup-breed older dogs aren’t friendly to Pixie but she has such a sweet disposition she just ignores them or walks away, she never growls or shows any kind of aggression towards them. Pixie is NOT afraid of thunderstorms and doesn’t even mind going outside in the yard during the rain - even to play. Loud noises do not bother her; she even seemed to enjoy getting a bath! An ideal home for her would owners that are active and have time to tire her out. She will love walks, hiking, or visits to parks to play fetch. We hope to find a canine companion for her since she really loves being with other playful dogs. As always we want a home for puppies where there is time to dedicate to training, affection, exercise and love. The family who has been fostering her hasn’t used a crate but she does go outside to go potty. We would still recommend crate-training for her safety and want owners who will be patient during her transition to her new home. Several volunteers from Ft Worth Animal Care really teamed up so this ADORABLE basenji mix has a foster! He and Pixie look Basenji and are both petite and sleek. When I was trying to determine a possible hybrid I was shocked but happy to learn about: The BaSheltie! Several sites had twins of Dusty! Dusty has been in a great foster home since his rescue. He’s awaiting a neuter appt this week but we have that covered! He is healthy, happy and hopeful to get a HOME! His foster family says he is “super dog friendly.” He is potty-trained and crate-trainer although he doesn’t love the crate. Dusty had mild separation anxiety at first which is normal; it’s much better when he is with his foster-fur friends so we hope to find a home with 1-2 playful young dogs.
