Margo came to PAWS pregnant and gave birth to five beautiful babies the very next day. She had been living as a stray on the streets of Cairo, IL, for all of her life as far as we know. But a kind gentleman came to her rescue and began to feed her and provide shelter for her. He was sad to surrender her but said he just could not continue to care for her and just wanted her to be safe. She is THE sweetest cat I have ever known and she is beautiful. (Unfortunately, she is not very photogenic so her pictures really don't do her justice!) She is immediately friendly with everyone and just wants to love and be loved. She is very quiet and calm and has been an exceptionally great mom. Now that she has the babies old enough to go to their forever homes, it is her turn to have the love and comfort of her very own home and family. She has been spayed, microchipped and has a rabies shot. She did test positive for FIV but I pray that does not stop someone from giving this precious girl the life that she deserves. Most research shows that this can only be transmitted to other cats through a deep puncture wound. It is not a danger to humans. She can live a perfectly normal life, she just may not live quite as long as a non FIV cat. Please consider welcoming this girl into your home. Her adoption fee is $100 and she is ready to go home. Lee is one of five kittens that Momma Liza managed to keep alive against all odds. They were found in an alley starving and covered in fleas. Poor Liza was too weak and sickly to even clean herself or her babies. But all of that is behind them and Lee is ready for his new home. He is also a really good helper. He sits quietly in the corner of each litter box and watches me clean it every morning and every evening! He is a very loving boy who also loves to play. PLEASE READ THIS BIO IN FULL BEFORE APPLYING FOR TOFFEE. Toffee is a feral cat that we trapped several months ago. He was neutered and given his shots right away. His ear was notched as he was extremely wild so the vet thought we might have to release him and wanted him to be marked as neutered in case. The journey to making friends with Toffee was slow but after a month or so, I was able to sit beside him without him coming at me in fear. Almost three months into the process, he began to accept petting and occasionally asked for it. From there on, the progress has been much faster but he will still revert to his feral self if he is frightened. He needs a home where the adopter(s) has/have experience with a feral cat and understand that time and patience are a must. He will not be adopted to a home with children as he does have a tendency to strike when frightened. He is a BEAUTIFUL boy but one must realize he can be a challenge. But, given time, love and patience he has become a great, loving boy with me. He has not warmed up to anyone else as of yet but he is does show signs of doing that on occasion.
