Story
Comet is a quiet, independent girl who prefers to experience the world on her own terms. Naturally reclusive, she’s happiest observing from a safe distance and taking in her surroundings rather than seeking hands-on affection. She would thrive as an indoor spirit cat, where she can feel secure while still having an important job to do—Comet has the instincts to be an excellent mouser and would take that role very seriously. With time and patience, adopters are welcome to gently work on socializing her, but it’s important to appreciate Comet for who she is and understand that she will likely always retain some of her independent, spirit-cat nature.Comet would do best starting out in a small, quiet space with easy access to food, water, litter, and a secure hiding spot where she can decompress. Older kids are recommended, as she values her personal space and does not enjoy being approached too quickly or unexpectedly. She may coexist well with another calm cat or a cat-savvy dog who respects boundaries. Once settled, Comet could also be a great indoor/outdoor companion when the weather is warmer, making her an ideal match for someone looking for a low-key, low-pressure feline presence who adds quiet companionship and purpose to the home.

Story
Meet Muffin, a 10-year-old charmer with a big heart and even bigger personality. Muffin came to MHS after deciding that sharing his home with another cat simply wasn’t his style—he prefers a peaceful, drama-free lifestyle where he can soak up all the attention himself. After a short adjustment period, Muffin quickly showed his true colors to staff and revealed himself to be a sweet, outgoing, and affectionate guy who genuinely enjoys human companionship and has lots of love to give.Muffin would thrive as the only cat in the home and would appreciate a calm environment where he can settle in at his own pace, starting with a cozy space of his own to help him feel secure. With his gentle nature, he will likely do well with kids, and slow introductions to dogs may be possible. He’s a spunky, loving companion who is in great health and ready to spend his golden years being adored—preferably as the undisputed star of the household.

Story
Meet Mason, a shy but very handsome boy named after the town where his journey began. Mason came to MHS as a local stray and, despite our best efforts to find his people, no one has come forward—so now he’s looking for a home that appreciates a quieter kind of companionship. Mason is a sensitive soul who is still pretty skittish in new situations and will likely always be a bit of a “spirit cat,” preferring to observe the world from a safe distance rather than being right in the middle of the action. The good news? He’s never been aggressive—just cautious—and with time, patience, and respect for his boundaries, he may slowly build trust at his own pace.Mason would do best in a calm home that understands he may always be more of a roommate than a lap cat, and that’s okay. He would likely enjoy having a friendly feline companion, which could help boost his confidence, and may do fine with older kids or cat-savvy dogs with slow introductions. Starting out in a small, quiet space with all his essentials and a cozy hiding spot will help him decompress and feel secure. Mason is the perfect match for someone who believes love doesn’t have to be loud—and who finds joy in earning the trust of a gentle, watchful friend.
