Story
Hi! My name is Louie and I am about 2 years old. When I came to the Pet Pantry I was missing a lot of hair. I am a sweet boy who is a little shy with being here. Here is a medical note from the veterinarian: Louie arrived with some skin issues which were the result of a combination of fleas, secondary infection, and allergies. He has responded nicely to treating him for fleas, medicating him with an antibiotic, and feeding him a hypoallergenic diet (Hills Prescription Diet ZD).  Signs of allergy in cats include scabs around the neck, lower back, belly, and legs. This can happen from getting bitten by a flea, inhaling an allergen (pollen, dust mite excrement, dander, mold spores, etc) or eating something he is allergic to (beef, milk products, poultry, or fish). We do not know the exact causes of his allergy, but if he would resume showing symptoms, your regular veterinarian or a dermatology specialist can help you find out. Therefore, regular veterinary exams and good monitoring at home are imperative to keep him healthy and comfortable. I am neutered, microchipped, and up to date on my vaccines. I am available for adoption at the Pet Pantry’s main facility, 26 Millersville Road, Lancaster. If you think I may be the purrfect match for your family please fill out an adoption application! Applications are available at our location as well as online at petpantrylc.org. From there, our adoption coordinator will be in touch!  May 3, 2024, 2:03 pm

Story
Hi! My name is Mr. Pixie and I am about 1 & 1/2 years old. I am a sweet boy who loves to play. You may see that I am marked as special needs, well I have a few things going on. Here is a medical note from the veterinarian: Mr. Pixie had retained testicles (cryptorchidism) . One of his testicles was removed from his abdomen; the other from outside of his body wall. He therefore has 2 incisional scars on his belly. He also has a green tattoo which indicates that he has indeed been altered. Mr. Pixie has curled pinnae (ear flaps) which is a trait specifically bred for in the Pixie Bob breed. It is a defect in the cartilage in his ears which makes keeping his ears clean an added grooming requirement. Unfortunately the defect causing the curl to his ears may also express itself in cartilage in other parts of his body (ribs, trachea, other joints).  Mr. Pixie was born with an abnormal right hip and thigh. There is no ball and socket joint for his right hip and his right thigh bone (femur) is shortened. This has resulted in his right leg being much shorter than his left. His kneecap is deviated to the outside of his knee. At this time, he does not seem to be in pain and is using his leg. Amputation was considered, but decided against because he has no tail to help him balance. (Tailessness is a breed selected trait of the Pixie Bob). His left rear leg and hip are normal. Radiographs are available for your veterinarian if requested. Because of his leg issue, it is very important that Mr. Pixie stay fit and trim. He has no exercise restrictions, but his meals need to be managed is portions and in content. An indoor cat formula food is best to help control Mr. Pixie's weight. Mr. Pixie has lived with another cat and got along well with him.  I am neutered, microchipped, and up to date on my vaccines. I am available for adoption at the Pet Pantry’s main facility, 26 Millersville Road, Lancaster. If you think I may be the purrfect match for your family please fill out an adoption application! Story
Let me Bee-Bee your next BFF. My name's BeeBee and I came into the shelter with my friend Shimmer. We both came from an unknown background as w were found left alone in a home for quite some time without care. We're both looking for our next furever homes, either together or apart. While I may seem shy at first, I love nothing more than getting pets, eating treats, and playing in catnip. I also enjoy watcing bird videos and lounging in the sun. I could do okay with a home possibly with other cats and even kiddos, as long as theyre respectful of my unknown background. I may be a tortie but I don't have the classic 'tude. I'm a lovely lately just looking for my next home, a home that wont leave me behind. Please stop by the shelter to meet me and take me home!

"Best believe I'm still bejeweled, When I walk in the room, I can still make the whole place shimmer......"I may not be the best singer, but miss Taylor Swift has sure written a lovely song about me! I'm Shimmer, and I came in tp the shelter with my friend BeeBee, after being left behind in a home for an unknown amount of time. We're both a bit nervous and looking for our new furever homes (either together or apart). I can be a bit timid at first, but I truly do enjoy the company of others. Ill share a spot on the couch with you, and will take some treats from you nicely, too. I enjoy watching video's of squirrels and lounging in the sun. Please stop by the shelter any day to meet me and take me home!

Story
Hi! My name is Biggie and I am about 3 years old. When I came into the Pet Pantry I was a little under the weather. I also tested positive for FIV. But don't let that scare you! Here is a medical note from the Veterinarian: Biggie tested positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) at the time of his neutering when he was younger.  His test remained positive for FIV at the time of his intake to the Pet Pantry. This  means that Biggie is carrying the virus, and it makes it harder for him to fight infections. At the time of his arrival, Biggie had been dealing with eye infections for a long time. His eyes were treated here with erythromycin ophthalmic salve and he responded very nicely to this. His eyes appear normal now.  Biggie also had some dental issues when he arrived. He had a dental procedure while he was with us, and unfortunately he needed to have several teeth extracted. He has a condition where the teeth develop defects that erode the tooth tissue , a condition that is not entirely understood. These erosions can be very painful and lead to tooth fracture. The affected teeth have been removed, but it is likely that Biggie will need further dental care in the future. He does not appear to have mouth or throat inflammation (stomatitis), which can be a condition related to having FIV. Regular veterinary exams are recommended to keep an eye on Biggie's oral health. Biggie may eat canned or dry food. He should not eat dental diets or treats as they may be too firm form him to crush with his gums and jaws where he no longer has teeth.  Biggie may share a home with other healthy, well-vaccinated adult cats with whom he is friendly. If adopted into a home with other cats, introductions MUST be done slowly to avoid fighting with the residents. A brochure with general information about FIV has been included in his adoption folder. Your veterinarian will be the best source to answer any further questions you may have about Biggie's health.   I am neutered, microchipped, and up to date on my vaccines. I am available for adoption at the Pet Pantry’s main facility, 26 Millersville Road, Lancaster. If you think I may be the purrfect match for your family please fill out an adoption application! Story
Hi! My name is Nala and I am about 12 years young! I am a sweet outgoing lady who loves to chat. My owner had to go into a nursing home and I need a safe place to land. So here I am, ready to start my next chapter. I love to snuggle and will lull to sleep with my purring. I am looking for a home with no dogs. I do get along with other cats as long as they are laid back like me. I have had dentals done in the past and only have a few teeth left. Because of this I will need wet food twice a day for the rest of my life. I am spayed, microchipped, and up to date on my vaccines. I am available for adoption at the Pet Pantry’s main facility, 26 Millersville Road, Lancaster. If you think I may be the purrfect match for your family please fill out an adoption application!
