With a name inspired by the king of country music himself, Luke is all about love, loyalty, and a little bit of fun. **Routine:** Luke’s mornings start with a sweet 'hello' around 7:00 a.m., followed by a quick walk and his breakfast (served between 7-8 a.m.). After a post-meal snooze, he enjoys some chill time in his x-pen with peanut butter-filled Kongs and chew toys. Luke’s evenings wind down with dinner around 6:00 p.m. and, of course, a tummy rub before he heads off to his crate around 10:00 p.m. He sleeps like a country tune—peacefully until the next morning. **Personality:** Just like a heartfelt ballad, Luke's sweetness is undeniable. He’s a cuddler who thrives on attention and love—nothing gets him happier than a good belly rub. When he first arrived, Luke was a little shy, but it didn’t take long for him to warm up. Now, he’s a velcro pup, sticking close to his people, ready to snuggle and keep you company, whether you're working or just hanging out. His sweet, soulful eyes will always be waiting for you to notice him. **Playtime:** Luke may not be a rowdy honky-tonk type, but he loves to play! His backyard is his stage, where he chases balls, enjoys the sun, and gets in a little socializing with other dogs. He’s learning how to interact with other pups—his shy side still comes through, but he’s gaining confidence every day. And while he’s not a big chaser of squirrels or loud barker, Luke is more than happy to tag along on walks, sniffing out new adventures like a country road to nowhere. **Training and House Manners:** Luke's a quick learner, and he’s getting the hang of potty training and crate training. He’s had a couple of accidents but is on the right track, especially with a little consistency and some tasty treats. He’s a good boy who wants to please, just like any classic country hero. **Ideal Home:** Luke’s ideal home would be with a family who appreciates his gentle soul and is ready to give him the time, attention, and training he needs to grow into a rockstar family companion. He’d do well with older children (6+), and while he’s still learning the ropes of puppyhood, he’s a fast learner and would be a great fit for first-time dog owners. **Special Notes:** Luke is a unique little guy. He’s not just a puppy with a catchy name—he’s a lover who craves companionship, enjoys his downtime, and would be an amazing addition to a family looking for a sweet, low-energy, but still playful pup. His sweet personality, smart mind, and adorable face will have you hooked from the moment you meet him. **Funny Moment:** One of the cutest things about Luke is how he just *plops* down for belly rubs. It's his favorite part of the day, and it never gets old. If you want a pup who’s ready to roll over and show you his belly for some affection, Luke’s your guy. Luke Bryan’s got all the makings of a country music hit—sweet, loyal, and a little bit of charm. If you’re ready for a new best friend who’ll be by your side through thick and thin, Luke’s the one to sing about!April 16, 2025, 9:03 pm

I am in a foster home and not at the shelter. If you are interested in adopting, submit an adoption questionnaire by email. Learn more hereDixie is a gentle, sensitive soul who’s doing her best to navigate the noisy, overwhelming shelter environment. She’s shy and cautious, but beneath that reserved exterior is a dog who wants to connect—she just needs a little time and patience to feel safe. Dixie enjoys the company of other dogs and has shown a soft, chasey play style in group settings. A confident dog sibling could help her build confidence, but she could also thrive as a solo dog in a quiet, predictable home. She walks well on leash and knows her name, and while she’s not currently interested in toys or treats, she’s curious and willing to engage when given space. Because she can be nervous and exit-seeking, Dixie will need a secure outdoor space and guardians who are calm, patient, and attuned to her needs. With time and gentle encouragement, she has every potential to blossom into a loyal, loving companion. If you believe in giving quiet dogs the chance to shine, Dixie is ready to meet you.April 17, 2025, 4:23 pm

I am in a foster home and not at the shelter. If you are interested in adopting, submit an adoption questionnaire by email. Learn more hereThis 4-year-old Catahoula Leopard Dog mix is a gentle, goofy lovebug who’s ready to be your new best friend! Tugboat is deaf, but don’t let that fool you—he’s incredibly tuned in and responds beautifully to hand signals and your energy. He’s mellow, sweet, and polite, making him a dream roommate for apartment living or laid-back homes. Tugboat adores his routines, his ball (though fetch is more of a comedy act), and his people. He’s great in crowds, friendly with everyone he meets, and will happily snooze at your feet or lay his head in your lap for some quiet affection. He's housetrained, non-destructive, and walks like a pro on leash—no pulling, barking, or fuss. His ideal match? Someone who’s almost always home or loves to take their dog everywhere. Tugboat experiences separation anxiety and will thrive with someone who wants a constant companion, a co-pilot for life’s adventures, or a buddy for slow mornings and errands alike. If you're looking for a calm, loving companion with a heart of gold (and the best "awoo"s), Tugboat’s your guy! Just be ready to commit to a lifestyle where he won’t be left behind—because for Tugboat, that’s when the world stops making sense. Story
WEIGHT: 55lbs Meet Sprinkles— She has had a tough go of it lately. Sprinkles came to us from a partner shelter where she was dropped off at their front gate in a wire crate. It`s terrible, we know. But honestly, to meet her, you wouldn`t know it. She is so outgoing, spunky, and playful. She is friendly with all people and has a really beautiful and unique look. She`s had mixed reviews of other dogs, so a home with other animals might work providing it was a good match. She`s high energy and would make a great adventure buddy for an active couple or young family. It doesn`t look like she has much experience doing normal dog things, so potential adopters should be prepared to take on some basic positive reinforcement training. Sprinkles recently spent some time in a foster home. Here is what they had to say about her:`Sprinkles is the most loving, cuddly and up for anything dog you can meet. She loves people and walks! She is well behaved, but consider puppy age, she can be a bit mischievous (shoe stealing and counter inspecting especially). She is super smart and eager to learn/please (I taught her enchanté - hand down and she gives you a paw like a high five but then she gives your hand a kiss), very treat/food motivated. A little bit of separation anxiety but I think if she were in a place long enough, she`d be okay, when she knows she`s home. Does well on lead, pulls when she sees something she wants or something that scares her. She`s a little timid about random things, the donkey statue in my backyard freaked her out and a kayak in the Harbor scared her, but she is easily comforted and not aggressive at all. We spent a lot of time outside so I can`t say 100% that she`s potty trained but that would be a very easy training. She`s extremely cuddly and wants to be with you. You can tell she`s been through a lot, but she doesn`t show it at all. She`s still got that mischievous puppy nature about her, and she would definitely make a great adventure companion for someone.`If you’d like to meet her, feel free to call our adoptions desk or stop by during Browsing Hours: Tue-Sun 11-5.

Story
Lexi is an awesome dog! She is super friendly, and loyal, bonding quickly to her people. She loves to play a game of fetch, and looks to her people to learn, play, engage and have FUN! Lexi does well with her commands such as sit, lay down, take it and drop it. Because she is a high energy dog she would do best in an active household who have experience with large dogs (she weighs ~55+lbs). She is quite food motivated, so having treats on you would be great, she also loves to learn. SHe is a great hiking, jogging or running partner! Lexi resides with a playmate at our Sanctuary and they come out to go on runs with the side-by-side buggy, she LOVES IT! And there is nothing better than a romp at the creek or at least a dip in the trough/pool! Lexi is a playgirl and a tomboy, she loves affection, playing with people and dogs, loves toys, and being an important part of her people's lives! Lexii loves being the center of attention, and so may be easiest as an only dog in the home, but for dog savvy folks, who engage in training and creating boundaries where needed she can co-house. She is currently taking a break at the Milo Sanctuary and living with three other dogs - happily! She has a beautiful golden, brindle coat and is a nice size, lean and athletic, perfect for wide open spaces and running. ADOPTION FEE: $550
