Ray is an amazing 3-year-old dog who’s ready to bring excitement and adventure into your life! She’s happiest when she’s on the move — chasing a frisbee, going for a run, or joining her favorite people on an outdoor adventure. Ray would thrive in an active home with adults or older kids (12+) who can match her enthusiasm and keep her both mentally and physically engaged.Ray comes beautifully trained, and her new family will receive her full training packet to help continue her progress and keep building on her great foundation. She has a high prey drive, so she’ll need a home that understands her energy and instincts. Her compatibility with cats will be tested. If you’re looking for a smart, athletic, and loyal companion to join you on every adventure, Ray is your girl!To apply for Ray click here https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=meridenhumanesociety&method=online_form_html&formid=27

We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.&#226&#173&#144&#239&#184&#143Stardust has been available since APRIL! I can’t understand why she has been overlooked. She is gorgeous!! Please share!!&#226&#173&#144&#239&#184&#143 Stardust is crate trained, house trained, and non destructive in the home. She only weighs about 40 pounds and is 1 year old. She is good with other dogs. She's medium energy, a few romps in the yard and engaging toys (hooves and Kongs, puzzle treats) are enough to keep her happy. This girl has decided to put fear in the hearts of all squirrels and bunnies in our yard. If you garden, you know this is huge! The wildlife must think twice before eating our plants. She takes the yard patrol very seriously and we let her take all the time she likes outside. It's very engaging work, apparently. If she's got a fenced in space and things to smell, she is perfectly capable of exercising herself. Oh, and she walks on top of the snow because as tall as she is, she weighs nothing. Cold doesn't bother her, she's doing great in New England! She is so affectionate and really tries to figure out what you want. She's learned to sit, wait, and give eye contact when I say her name. When I put my hands on my hips and frown, she lowers her body to apologize and snakes her way to me to give kisses. When I'm in distress and grief from my dog's recent death, she recognizes it. Stardust has unlocked the ability to couch cuddle and LOVES it! She also watches TV. Stardust was very considerate with my dog as he was dying, she could tell he didn't feel well. She's also considerate with my small senior dog, Mia, but she still clobbers her accidentally. She's had a blast playing with young dogs who want to wrestle and would do great with a playmate. All in all, she's an awesome girl!! She is spayed, UTD on vaccines, microchipped, and on flea/tick and heartworm prevention. Story
Meet Betsy Blue, the wiggly, talkative, piglet-sounding sweetheart you didn’t know you needed in your life. Betsy is about two years old, and while we can’t be certain since she’s a rescue, our best guess is that she’s a Catahoula Leopard Dog and Pittie mix. With her one blue eye and one brown eye, her soft, floppy ears, and her gorgeous coloring, she’s as stunning as she is silly. At first, Betsy can be a little hesitant when meeting new people. She’ll do her signature “drive by bump” just to test you out before deciding you’re worthy of her wiggles. But once she warms up, you’ll see a whole new side of her — joyful, snorty, and downright hilarious. Her foster says she sounds like a piglet when she gets excited, and she’s been known to jump for joy when her favorite people walk into the room. Once you’re in Betsy’s inner circle, you’ll be greeted with wags, wiggles, and plenty of conversation because this girl is a talker. She has no problem letting you know exactly what she wants, exactly when she wants it. See just how loving and silly this girl can be in her video! https://youtu.be/s42gtTUfaQg?si=chzlVTRf8K1Stl5r Betsy is an active girl who loves her walks, and she’s an absolute dream on the leash. She’ll trot right beside you, checking in with sweet eye contact to make sure you’re enjoying yourself as much as she is. Back at home, she’s a toy enthusiast — her favorite playthings are actually small plush cat toys. She’ll toss them into the air, chase them around, and keep herself entertained with the tiniest of stuffies. She’s also a huge foodie, totally motivated by treats, which makes her not only fun but easy to train. Betsy has lived with other dogs in her foster home and, while she can be shy and a little unsure at first, she blossoms once she feels safe. With time and patience, she turns into a playful companion who enjoys running, chasing, and being chased. She’s also done well living with cats, she’s proven herself capable of settling in peacefully with them. She even wrestles with her feline foster siblings!! Dog-savvy cats are definitely the best fit! Because Betsy can be slow to open up to new people, she would do best with a family who understands the beauty of patience. She would thrive in a quieter home where she can truly decompress, gain confidence, and learn that the world isn’t such a scary place. Older kids who can respect her space and let her come around on her own terms would be a great match for her. Once she trusts you, though, Betsy bonds hard. She’ll be your devoted best friend, your walking buddy, your toy-tossing partner, and your snuggly couch companion. Betsy Blue may take a little time to reveal her true self, but once she does, she’s nothing short of irresistible. She’s wiggly, silly, snorty, and incredibly loyal — the kind of dog who will make you laugh every single day while reminding you just how special the bond between a rescue and their person can be. If you’re ready to give her the patience she deserves, Betsy is ready to give you her whole heart. Ready to welcome a new furry friend into your life? Story
This cutie is Mr. Bigs Park Avenue. He is currently 11 weeks old and weighs approximately 13 pounds. He looks like a redbone coonhound pup but we think he may be a Beagle/Catahoula mix. With a rescue it’s a guess! What matters most is that he is an adorable, sweet puppy and is one the MOST desperate in the entire US based on statistics for where this puppy is from. Shelters in this area are having to euthanize puppies. So, this puppy needs you! If you choose a puppy from us, it saves their life as well as the life of another in its place. Watch Mr. Big's playful personality here: https://youtu.be/oLREEt49_h8?si=ph0SVN5ruVQOJzyF Mr. Bigs is playful, sweet, curious, and cuddly. He has gorgeous blue eyes and a shiny reddish brown coat. He loves to interact with his foster parents and play with his brother Cosmo and the adult dog in his foster home. Eat, sleep, play, repeat- such is puppy life! We pride ourselves in being able to give you good personality and behavioral information to help ensure this baby is the right fit for you. You are also welcome to do a Facetime call to meet your new baby before signing paperwork! Mr. Bigs is still very young and will need a family that can commit to training, socialization and all the dedication puppyhood requires. A puppy is discovering new things that shape their personalities with each passing day. Implementing routine, structure, setting boundaries, and proper socialization is key from the start. We require a commitment from adoptive families to crate train their new puppy starting immediately when arriving at their new home, which will help with potty training, energy management, and the overall development of a well-rounded adult dog. You will be guaranteed to get lots of kisses in return from your new best friend! Ready to welcome a new furry friend into your life? Story
**Now fostered in Portland, OR** Meet Endive Lettuce—the adorable little black floof. He’s 3 months old now and just starting to come into his own. One of his siblings took a DNA test, revealing this litter may be Catahoula, Pittie, and Husky mix! What a fun, adventurous combo! Endive is cautiously curious about the big, wide world. Everything is still so new—he’s learning what it means to be safe, loved, and snuggled, and it's the sweetest thing to witness. He may start off a little shy, taking it all in with wide eyes, but give him a minute and he’s exploring the world one crunchy leaf and oddly-shaped acorn at a time. Watching him toddle around outside, delighting in nature’s tiniest treasures, is genuinely hilarious. He loves playing with his siblings and really enjoys doing his own thing—independent little explorer that he is. But don’t be fooled—Endive is also a total cuddle bug. He fits perfectly in your lap (for now!) and when he climbs in for a snuggle, it's nearly impossible to say no. One of his favorite activities? Puppy cuddles, of course. And we’re not complaining! Watch Endive’s playful personality here: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=257BSZiQrSY&feature=youtu.be Endive is playful, sweet, and soaking up everything like a little sponge. With every nap, play session, and cuddle, he’s growing into the confident pup he’s meant to be. He is already mastering his crate training, sleeping quietly at night, and he's making great progress on potty training. He can potty on command when taken outside. He's incredibly smart and food motivated, so he's a dream to train. Since he’s still a baby, Endive will need a family ready to embrace all the ups and downs of puppyhood—training, socialization, and routine are key. We require all adopters to commit to crate training from day one, which will help with potty training, managing energy, and raising a well-balanced adult dog. In return? You’ll get a lifetime of love, tail wags, and sloppy kisses from your new best friend. Ready to bring this silly sweetheart home? Apply today! Story
Scout is a neutered male hound/weimaraner mix (see his DNA results), weighing about 40-45 lbs! He is a sweet, special boy who has had a rough past and really needs an angel to step up and save his life. His estimated age is 5-6 years old, however he has graying on his muzzle which makes him look older than he is. He also has scars on his ears and face.   This boy has definitely experienced trauma and he is slow to trust people, but deep down he just wants to love and be loved.  He is misunderstood and has had people let him down too many times. Scout bonds closely to one person and once he trusts you, you will feel the love and adoration every time he looks into your eyes!  He is a lazy couch potato who loves to nap on the couch next to you and will follow you around the house like your shadow.  Once you’ve really earned his love, he will steal your slippers or other little trinkets that smell like you and take them onto the couch to keep close to him.  He won’t chew them, he just wants to keep a piece of you with him always.   Scout has been adopted and returned once due to fearful aggressive behavior towards men and children. He has been in his current foster home for over a year now and has not had any adopt interest. He is a good boy, but he requires a very specific type of home to do well, and we have not had any luck finding the right home for him   His current foster mom loves him and has worked hard to help him be the best boy he can be, but there is a man in the home and Scout just cannot comfortably coexist with a man. He (the man) understands that Scout’s aggression towards him comes from a place of fear and he has tried hard to earn Scout’s trust, but we feel that Scout would do best in a home with NO men.  Scout’s ideal home: A female only home, no men, children, or cats.  Scout does very well with other dogs and likes to be near them, he also has bursts of playful enjoy and will happily romp around for a play session! A friendly, confident doggo friend would help him to feel safe and to trust, although he would also do just fine as an only dog.  A quiet, calm home environment is best for Scout. He is lower energy and is happy to nap on the couch all day, but he does also love walks (he is strong and tends to pull, so he needs someone strong enough to handle him).   He needs a home that will commit to crating him in a separate room when they have visitors over, as he is not good with new people and when Scout is fearful, he relies on aggression to keep him safe and to keep the “scary” thing away.  Scout needs someone to love him for who he is, warts and all, who will set him up for success and advocate for him. Scout is currently being fostered in CT. If you think you might be a good fit for Scout, please consider applying to foster or adopt him!   Click HERE for Adoption Application: pawsrescueleague.org/adopt Adoption fees vary based on the dog and are not negotiable. As a small rescue that does not receive government funding or grants, we rely on adoption fees to stay afloat. Adoption fees help cover the following: vaccinations, wellness exams, heartworm/4DX testing, parasite prevention, spay/neuter (age-appropriate), microchipping, transport expenses, and other rescue-related overhead/administrative costs. Paws Rescue League, Inc is an all-inclusive rescue that does NOT only rescue puppies and young, healthy dogs.  We make a point to also rescue seniors, dogs with special needs, moms, and other “less desirable” dogs, knowing that we will likely incur higher veterinary expenses and that these dogs may take longer to get adopted.  As such, an individual adoption fee is not only reimbursing PRL for expenses directly related to that dog, but it is also helping us to continue our mission of taking in dogs that would otherwise be too much of a financial burden to save. We believe that ALL dogs deserve a second chance. Thank you for your support and understanding! ##1778132##
