Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Douglas — our 72-lb Gentle Giant with a Baby’s Heart Douglas is estimated to be about 1.5–2 years old, and he’s every bit the sweetheart his soft eyes promise. He gets along wonderfully with all dogs, carries himself with calm confidence, and melts the moment you give him attention. This big boy loves nothing more than resting his head on your chest like an oversized baby who just wants to feel close. He listens beautifully, learns quickly, and is already well on his way with potty training. He’s also fully crate trained — he settles in quietly and sleeps through the night without a peep. Douglas is loyal, loving, and ready for a home where he can be someone’s big shadow and best friend. Whoever adopts him will be getting a treasure. Thank you for checking out our wonderful orphans. If you would like to find out more please email or call Diane at...diane@ulpr.org or 870-577-3744.   Please email us at  diane@ulpr.org  and request an application.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 4, 2025, 12:20 am

PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet. 12/8/25 Still available! 10/13/25 Sweet Face is an absolute sweetheart looking for her forever home. She is a young adult, about a year old, and weighs about 70 lbs. We believe she is a Catahoula mix. She is very shy but also very sweet. She is nervous in new situations. She just needs time to get used to new people and surroundings. Once she warms up she is a very happy goofy girl! She is cautious around new dogs, but is NOT aggressive. She was a street dog prior to rescue and I imagine that was learned behavior in order to survive. She is gaining confidence in her foster home and doing better every day! When she arrived at her new foster home, she hung by the door for a few hours. Flo and Asher (the foster’s dogs) were very patient with her and let her come to them when she was ready. She appears to be fully house trained and has only had one accident in her new foster home. She will come up to you for attention and to give kisses but also likes to observe what’s going on from a distance. She walks well on the leash and likes to play catch me if you can when it’s time to put her leash on to go outside. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.11/26/25 Stardust needs to find an adopter asap!! Please share!! Her foster parents’ dog just passed away and they are really struggling emotionally and need time to grieve. Not only that, Stardust has been available since April. Far too long. Please, please share. She deserves a home of her own. Stardust is a stunning girl with glorious ears and long legs. While she looks big, she’s only 40-45 pounds. She just turned 1 year old. She is crate trained and has had zero accidents in her foster home! Her potty break schedule has been very consistent and she seems to have house trained herself based on this. Clever girl! Stardust has medium energy. She gets excited at new things and scenarios but then settles down. She's currently enjoying her foster's fenced in backyard and burns off plenty of energy galloping around, sniffing, patrolling for squirrels, and playing with her foster siblings. She also loves chew toys. She isn't overly demanding in her needs: a nice romp outside, a play session, and some engaging Kongs and hooves and she's very satisfied. Add in some obedience training and lots of love and she'll be perfectly fulfilled! She is both affection-motivated and food-motivated! She's discovered couch cuddles and seems to love being hugged as well. Stardust is overjoyed at each meal she gets and wags her tail the whole time she's eating. She's definitely a candidate for a slow feeder, her food is gone in the blink of an eye. Stardust is still young and is learning how to control her long legs and sometimes smacks her foster sibling when playing, although she otherwise is very considerate with other dogs! She will occasionally very gently mouth hands when she wants to play with people, but she responds to 'no,' and is very easily redirected. Stardust is learning about walking on a leash and thinks it's great fun. It doesn't occur to her that she could go potty on a walk, she seems to think she can only do that off-leash in her foster's backyard. She's gotten used to living indoors and getting basic household manners and she's doing really well. She LOVES the neighbor's children and kisses them thru the fence! Stardust is a great dog. She wants love, and she's eager to please and do a good job! She's going to make a fantastic pet for someone! We do not know her breed, likely a mix of many breeds. She is spayed, UTD on vaccines, microchipped, and on flea/tick and heartworm prevention. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet. 12/4/25 Merle is a neutered male catahoula mix who came into rescue after being found as a stray. He is a very good boy who just needs to learn some basic manners/obedience. He is estimated to be about 2 years old and weighs about 50 lbs. He gets along very well with other dogs and loves all people that he has encountered while in rescue. He has been in a foster home that includes a 4 year old little boy who he loves. Merle has just entered the Paws in Prison program where he will be paired with inmate trainers for 8 weeks. They will work with him on basic obedience, leash walking, etc. They meet weekly with a certified dog trainer. Upon graduation, he will have the skills needed to pass the Canine Good Citizen test.  Merle is located in Arkansas. He can be adopted locally, but transport is available to the New England area as well. Adopter must be able to pick up or arrange for someone to pick up for them in PA, NY, or CT on Saturdays. Story
Volt is being fostered in NC. Volt has some vision. update Volt is doing well! He lives for cuddles at night before going to bed in his crate. During the day he has one speed and that is lightning fast. His favorite treat is carrots and he will do anything for them but lay down, lol. He has a pretty good recall and knows sit. He is fully potty trained and goes to the back door when he needs to go out. He plays so gently with his foster mom's mini aussies and rough and tumble with Elektra (corso) and Trigger (lab). Volt had some grand mal seizures that were caused by Simparica Trio. These lasted about 3 weeks with lingering focal seizures. He is still on keppra and he's doing great! He has not had any seizures in the last 3 months. BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately
