Story
Hello, my name is Benji! I have unfortunately been in and out of shelters over the years, and I really want to find my furever home. I am in my golden years and kennel life is certainly not for me. I am a big pup with an even bigger personality. As is typical of hounds, I am quite talkative and opinionated about everything! I can come on a bit strong with other dogs but may do well with a calmer, older one with proper introduction. I have not lived with cats before but I am willing to try. I don't mind children as long as they understand I am large and loud. I just want companionship and a comfortable place to lay my head. I hope you will consider adopting an old gentlemen like me!---If you are interested in adopting, please come prepared --bring a photo ID, proof of address, and everyone in the home including resident dogs with vaccination history. We are open daily 12-6pm.---The Pennsylvania SPCA - Lancaster Center848 S. Prince St. Lancaster PA 17603Kennel #16516717-917-6979lancaster@pspca.org

Story
Dolly is a 2.5 year old spayed female coonhound mix who weighs 50 lbs. Dolly was rescued from a desperate situation. She was one of 30 dogs and puppies living in a small home. Their owners reached out for help due to medical issues, and the local rural shelter was unable to provide them any assistance other than euthanasia due to overcrowding. We are grateful help was sought and we were able to do our part to keep these dogs safe! If you remember the Bluey litter of heeler/hound puppies we had available for adoption last summer, Dolly is their mama! She is now ready to find a forever home of her very own. This beautiful girl is quite the catch! She is great with other dogs but does not rely on them. Whether she is an only dog, has a bunch of doggy siblings, or simple socializes regularly in her forever family, she'll be content. Dolly loves human interaction once she gets to know you. She can be a little shy at first but is quick to trust if given the chance. Dolly walks great on a leash, and she is house- and crate-trained. This girl has looks AND brains! She is super smart and treat motivated. Her ears are as soft as velvet - just like her personality! We absolutely adore this mama and cannot wait to find her the devoted forever family she so desperately deserves! Interested in adopting? Story
This dog is in Tennessee. Adoption Donation $100 if picked up in TN, $175 plus transport fee for out of state adoptions. Looking for a four-legged friend who is silly, sweet, and super fun? Meet Willow, a lovable goofball ready to make you laugh and melt your heart. Willow has been staying with a professional trainer (Thank you, Carmen with Inspired Paws of Cookeville!) to help establish her foundation of basic obedience. Willow is a 15-month-old, 40lbs Mt Cur / Coonhound / Pit Bull Terrier mix who gets along great with other dogs who can match her energy, adores humans, and is confident. She loves to wrestle with stuffed toys, or play tug-of-war with her doggy pals. Willow also loves to fetch a tennis ball. When tuckered out from playing, she can often be found snoozing in her kennel, or curled up on a blanket. Willow has learned to walk well on leash and enjoys going for car rides.  Willow is quickly becoming at pro at the basic commands such as Sit, Down, Stay, Heel, Place, and Off. She is fully housetrained. When she is adopted, the trainer is happy to meet with her new family free of charge to help with the transition, show off her training, and support her new homecoming! The ideal home for her will have a fenced yard with enough space for her to run and play. She would also love someone who will take her on hikes and outdoor activities.  If you’re looking for a goofy and affectionate buddy who will make you smile and laugh all day, EVERY day, look no further than Willow.    Interested in adopting? Take the first step and complete an adoption application on our website: http://aarf-tn.com/adopt/adoption-apps/ If you have questions that are not covered in the profile, visit the Pet Inquiry Form: http://aarf-tn.com/contact/pet-inquiry-form/. THIS PET IS FOSTERED IN TENNESSEE! We do list and adopt our pets nationwide. Typical transport cost to the Northeast is $180. Due to interstate adoption regulations, we are not able to adopt to RI and MA state residents. A.A.R.F. (All About Rescue and Fixin' Inc.) http://aarf-tn.com/ is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) no kill animal rescue organization located in the Upper Cumberland area of Tennessee. A.A.R.F. is comprised of unpaid volunteers and survives only on public donations. Thank you for thinking adoption first! Prior to adoption, all canines and felines are spayed or neutered, have received their age appropriate vaccinations, have been de-wormed for common parasites, and have received treatment for prevention of fleas and ticks. All canines over the age of 6 months have been tested for heartworm. All canines are put on heartworm prevention as soon as possible - this means dogs as soon as they are tested negative. Puppies are put on prevention immediately. All felines, regardless of age, have been tested for Feline Leukemia/FIV. Each animal receives a health check by a licensed veterinarian prior to adoption. Anything else found will be treated by our organization prior to adoption. April 24, 2024, 12:33 pm

Story
DeeDee is my name, stealing hearts is my game! (& Hopefully, some snacks along the way, and a ride to my forever home.. but I'm getting ahead of myself, now, I think). First, let me tell you all of the best things about me and why you should bring me home! I am a pint sized 43 pounds, so a great size for almost any home! And at around a year old, I may fill out, but I won't be getting much bigger! I have met other dogs and could be open to doggy friends, too! I am enjoying going for walks through the woods and putting my houndy nose to the test! Really, though, I want to sniff out the best snacks, and some extra attention from the humans who are kind enough to spend time with me! I can be a little shy at first, but this place is loud and hectic for a happy little hound, I'd much rather be in the comfort of a home with you! Enjoying the beautiful fall breezes and snuggles inside at the end of a day of adventure - what do you think? Ready to adopt the best sidekick there ever was? Come meet me!   Have Room in Your Home? Welcoming in a pet saves your new pet's life and creates space for another pet to get a chance! Not sure if DeeDee would be the best fit for you? Send in a generic app! Our team will work with you to find a pet to best fit your lifestyle! You will go home with a starter bag of food, one month of flea and heartworm prevention, and also have 90 DAYS of training help included with your adoption, if needed! Story
We saw sweet Ginny on Facebook. She was a stray that ended up in a high kill shelter in Virginia. Shortly after she arrived she gave birth to 4 puppies. The shelter had no idea that she was pregnant because she was nothing but skin and bones. We knew we somehow had to get her here to Tennessee so we put our thinking caps on and a lot of wonderful volunteers drove her to our pick up spot in southern VA where our regular transporter picked her and the babies up on his way back to Nashville. We met them in Nashville at 1 AM and drove the family 100 miles back to the rescue. We knew Ginny was young, possibly still a pup herself and our vet confirmed that she was only 11 months at the time of the puppy's birth. Her pups have all been adopted and now it's Ginny's turn! Walker Hounds are very high energy dogs and can be a little stubborn so make sure you research the breed before you make the choice to adopt. We insist on a fenced yard for her so she can have room to free run and enjoy the rest of her life. These dogs are the number one dumped off breed as their owners will desert them if they don't hunt the way they want them too! We have several of them here at the rescue for that very reason. They are fun loving couch potatoes and will bring you many years of joy and happiness! PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE LOCATED IN TENNESSEE AND YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO MEET OUR PETS PRIOR TO ADOPTION! ADOPTION FEE $650

Story
My name is Winnie and I am a loving 7 year old, 50 pound girl that is a beautiful Hound breed called a Tree Walker.   I was found as a stray in the middle of a rural highway and I am such a soft and gentle girl that loves to lay around and sleep and just be an easy couch potato friend. I am housebroken, love a good tummy rub, pretty nice to all other dogs that I meet and I would be a great companion to a senior, retired person or couple who are looking for an easy dog to love.  I am healthy and spayed and microchipped and I am told that I am pretty, too.  Would you like to have a sweet companion for the next 7-8 years.  I will be happy to make your life so much more special if you invite me home.  Critter Cavalry Rescue is ready to help you adopt me if you write to them at ccrnewengland@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.April 23, 2024, 4:30 pm
