Story
Meet Chapo Chapo is a sweet, slightly shy gentleman with a soft spot for snacks and sunny spots. He might be a little nervous when you first meet him, but don’t worry—this boy firmly believes that treats are the fastest way to friendship (and honestly, he’s not wrong). Once you’ve won him over, Chapo is all tail wags and good vibes. He’s already got the brains to match his charm too—this smart cookie knows sit, down, stay, and is house trained. Basically, he’s got the “good boy” basics down pat. When he’s feeling his best, you’ll find him living his dream life: chasing toys (especially his beloved squeaky duck), soaking up the sun like a pro, or heading out for walks, runs, and adventures with his favorite human (hopefully you!). Available at the Animal Rescue League of Berks County, Birdsboro Pa 19508, KL#1257

Story
Velma needs a low commotion home with no children. Other cats & dogs are fine! We’ve had Velma since 11/2020 and she has been great until she bit our daughter. Velma was seen by the vet and cleared of a medical or behavioral issues that caused the bite and said they would not label her as aggressive or a biter. She has an odd personality and is very needy. Velma loves to be outside and lounge around. She does fine on a leash but needs a fenced in yard. She will roam if the gate to the yard is left open. Velma only barks when outside and see someone, delivery driver etc. in 11/2025 she had a mass removed but has been fine ever since, it was caught extremely early and removed. She is crate trained, but sometimes when left out for a few hours will have pee accidents but when in crate has no accidents. We are having a hard time since she has a bite history and really do not want to put her down. We would’ve for her to find a forever loving home.

Story
Meet Iris Lou A stunning Catahoula Leopard Dog with a heart as beautiful as her spots Iris Lou is the kind of dog who gently tiptoes into your life… and then curls right up into your heart. This sweet girl is affectionate, gentle, and an absolute cuddle-bug once she feels safe. She can be a little shy at first, but give her a moment and she’ll show you her loyal, loving soul. Iris is dog-friendly and truly prefers having canine companions around. She feels most confident when she has dog friends nearby and thrives in a home where she isn’t the only four-legged heartbeat. She’s also a bit protective of her people, the good kind that watches over you with quiet devotion. One of her most endearing quirks? Her goofy, crooked smile. Iris curls one side of her lip up and shows her teeth, which might look intimidating at first glance, but it’s actually her way of saying “I trust you.” It’s a submissive, affectionate gesture and one of the many things that makes her uniquely Iris. She’s fully committed to outdoor pottying and will not use potty pads. Outside is the only acceptable bathroom in her world. She also loves carrying her stuffies outdoors… though fair warning, they rarely survive the adventure. &#239&#184&#143 Iris Lou’s story is one of quiet resilience. She was dumped on the same county road where another rescue dog, Lily, was found. For weeks, Iris hid in the brush, surviving with the help of kind people who left her food and water. Slowly, patiently, Corey earned her trust, and once she decided she was safe, she never looked back. She walked into her foster home and made herself part of the family almost instantly. Unlike many dogs with her past, Iris has no desire to wander off. When she chooses you, she chooses you. Iris Lou is looking for a loving home where she can feel secure, have doggy friends, enjoy cuddles, and flash that sweet, silly smile every day. If you’re ready for a loyal companion with a gentle heart and a survivor’s spirit, Iris Lou may be your girl. Adopt Iris Lou and give this beautiful soul the forever she’s been waiting for.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 14, 2026, 2:11 pm

Story
Meet Star! Star is a 4-year-old Catahoula/Hound mix with a heart every bit as big as her personality. This girl has been through more than most dogs ever should - she was shot, and the bullet went through her jaw and ear. She underwent jaw surgery, and as a result, her tongue now hangs out permanently. But Star doesn’t let her past define her. She is pure resilience wrapped in sweetness. Star is incredibly affectionate and so happy-natured. She loves to run, explore, and play, but she also knows how to wind down and melt into you for snuggles - the perfect balance of fun and companionship. She enjoys car rides and would make a wonderful adventure buddy for someone who wants a loyal co-pilot by their side. She’s very smart, already knows “sit,” and uses the doggie door like a total pro. Star is spayed, fully vaccinated, and ready to find the family who will love her for the amazing, one-of-a-kind girl she is. If you’re looking for a dog with a beautiful soul and an even more beautiful spirit, Star is your girl.

Story
Meet Bo: Bo is a 1 and a 1/2 year old (as of April 2026) Catahoula/Pit mix that weighs 86 pounds. Bo was originally rescued from another organization, but due to unexpected personal circumstances his current owner has no choice but to rehome him and the original shelter said if they took him back he would end up on the euthanasia list. Our rescue stepped in to make sure this handsome boy could avoid that fate and find the right home for him to thrive for a long and happy life! Bo is currently being fostered in the south and would love to catch the next freedom ride north to Pennsylvania to meet more prospective families! Bo absolutely adores people — from kids to adults! Bo is a big, happy, high-energy boy who just needs the right home — a secure setup and someone willing to give him the structure and the love he deserves. Bo has a history of jumping the fence in his old house, his new home would need a tall fence and someone willing to work with him to know his boundaries to stay in the yard. Bo has been friendly with other dogs he’s met - he does have a strong prey drive, so he would not do well in a home with small pets/cats. Bo is already house trained!  Bo is up to date on his shots and neutered. Bo is ready for his forever family - could it be you?! If you think he could be your new playmate and love bug, please go to Charlie’s Crusaders website (www.charliescrusaders.org) to fill out an application. CURRENT LOCATION: Mississippi, awaiting transport to PA ##2702794##
