Story
We acquired Oaklie from a shelter in 2015 when she was about 4 months old as a companion to our other dog. He recently passed away and Oaklie seems sad since she is used to having another dog for company. We will not be getting another dog due to our baby having allergies. Because of this she has been kept solely downstairs to alleviate symptoms. We just feel badly that she isn’t getting the attention she deserves. The kids don’t love on her and we don’t have the time. Before kids she used to really enjoy snuggling and all the affection. She is very docile and has never bit anyone including children. She’s patient with them. She is 8 years old and enjoys sunbathing, an occasional walk including a good puffy jacket for walks in the winter since she hates to be cold. We are just looking for someone or a family that would have the time to give her the affection and attention that she deserves. She will be a great companion and follow you all around.

Story
Our pets are fostered and physically located in Mt.Airy,NC. We are 5 & 1/2 hrs west if VA, Beach. We encourage you to come to us to pick up. Transport to the area has been put on hold due to vehicle issues. Normally we offer halfway transport for $100 or to your door for $200. This pup is a Catahoula mix. This pup was born 10-20-22. This pup will not be overly large. My educated guess is around 35-40 pounds at maturity. This pup is shy but warms up. This pup is great with other dogs and cats. We have started crate training and potty training. I will consider a reduced adoption fee to the right home! This pup will be current on vaccines, deworming, preventives. This pup will be micro-chipped. This pup is spayed! This pup will receive a physical and a certificate of health prior to going home. The adopter will get all the health records with adoption. Frances is spayed! We require a prescreen application to adopt. You can get that on our website at www.saveamuttkennel.net

Story
Our bouncy Ben was picked up by a local animal control.  He was very thin, heart worm positive, and had intestinal parasites.  All of that is behind him now as he has completed treatment for all and is ready to find his forever home.  We really should have named him Tigger as he bounces every where he goes.  He loves to play and also can be a snuggler when he has gotten his energy out.  We don't know how he is with cats as he hasn't been around them.  Ben knows sit and down and is eager to learn more.  He would like a family who will continue with training, and include him in their adventures, keeping in mind that he is a hound and must always be leashed when out because he likes to follow his nose.  He would be a great walking, running, hiking buddy.  If you are that special family who would love  this boy forever, please contact Rainbow Animal Rescue at rainbowanimalrescueva@gmail.com or 757-472-1583April 25, 2024, 2:30 pm

Story
We saw sweet Ginny on Facebook. She was a stray that ended up in a high kill shelter in Virginia. Shortly after she arrived she gave birth to 4 puppies. The shelter had no idea that she was pregnant because she was nothing but skin and bones. We knew we somehow had to get her here to Tennessee so we put our thinking caps on and a lot of wonderful volunteers drove her to our pick up spot in southern VA where our regular transporter picked her and the babies up on his way back to Nashville. We met them in Nashville at 1 AM and drove the family 100 miles back to the rescue. We knew Ginny was young, possibly still a pup herself and our vet confirmed that she was only 11 months at the time of the puppy's birth. Her pups have all been adopted and now it's Ginny's turn! Walker Hounds are very high energy dogs and can be a little stubborn so make sure you research the breed before you make the choice to adopt. We insist on a fenced yard for her so she can have room to free run and enjoy the rest of her life. These dogs are the number one dumped off breed as their owners will desert them if they don't hunt the way they want them too! We have several of them here at the rescue for that very reason. They are fun loving couch potatoes and will bring you many years of joy and happiness! PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE LOCATED IN TENNESSEE AND YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO MEET OUR PETS PRIOR TO ADOPTION! ADOPTION FEE $650
