Story
Meet Twilight Sparkle! This beautiful girl and her sisters were brought to us quite some time ago from one of our shelter partners. Shortly after, they did need to undergo a lengthy and tough treatment in an isolated quarantine room for a fungal skin infection. They have since recovered and are much healthier than when they came in, but we always want to emphasize the importance of giving our animals proper medical care, a nutritious diet and an environment they can thrive in. Some facts about these girls are: they are definite foodies and will reluctantly share their food with each other, but if you have other animals at home already, we advise to feed separately just to be cautious. These kiddos will still need lots of socialization as they sadly had to miss out on a lot during their quarantine, but they have shown nothing but love and affection and are quite the sweet, loving pups. While affectionate and playful, we do still ask that adopters do slow introductions with these pups when meeting new people and animals since they have never directly met another animal while at our shelter. True to the Catahoula part of them, these pups do play rough at times and are a little nippy with each other, but tend to swap those for kisses when playing with people! These sweet pups will be sure to thrive in a home that will provide lots of love and care. If you are interested in adopting this sweet girl, please see a Kennel technician!***Please check with any leasing offices/landlords/HOAs as needed for both BREED AND WEIGHT restrictions. These girls are young and still have a lot of time to grow! While unsure just how big they will be once fully grown, we estimate them to be ~40+lbs.***

Story
Some dogs wag their tails. Some wiggle their whole bodies. Some bounce like happiness is trying to escape through their paws.Whimsy does all of that - and then tops it off with a gentle kiss. It’s his signature move. He’s a healthy, neutered, 1-year-old, 45-pound Catahoula Cattle Dog who seems convinced that humans were put on earth specifically so he can love them. Bring him his food? Kiss. Toss him a toy? Kiss. Accidentally sneeze in the same room? Kiss. He’s an equal-opportunity affection machine. When I first met him, I had to put a collar on - usually a moment when even confident dogs get unsure. Whimsy was nervous, you could see it in his eyes. And what did he do?He leaned forward, stretched out his neck… and kissed me.That’s Whimsy in a nutshell. When he’s unsure, he reaches for connection. When he’s happy, he reaches for connection. And honestly, most moments in between. He loves humans of all ages, enjoys other dogs, and has the bright, eager energy of a young pup who’s ready for walks, hikes, yard adventures, and whatever happy nonsense you’re up for. And after all that? He’ll curl up next to you and attempt to transform himself into a lap dog while continuing his chosen vocation of Professional Kisser.Bring Whimsy home, and you won’t just feel loved. You’ll feel cherished.Animal Aid Society is located at 80 Butler Farm Road, Hampton, VA. Visiting hours are 9am to noon, daily, including weekends and holidays.Interested? Come for a visit any day of the week - 365 days a year between 9am - 12pm. Story
Gus is the sweetest, chilled boy you would ever want to meet.  Even though he has not been treated well, he still loves people.  He was picked up as a stray by one of the local county animal controls and nobody came looking for him.  He is great with other dogs and kids.  Not sure about cats but the hounds we have taken in the past are usually good with cats.   Unfortunately our little man is heart worm positive and will start treatment after neuter surgery and removal of several masses.  He is a couch potato who likes to watch TV with dogs on it and just snuggle with his people.  If you are looking for a friend who loves to go for sniff walks and snuggle in a comfy bed and watch TV with you,  Gus is your boy! If you would like to add this sweet boy to your family, please contact Rainbow Rescue at 757-472-1583 or email:  rainbowanimalrescueva@gmail.com  May 12, 2025, 11:55 am

Story
If you are looking for a loyal outdoor companion with a heart of gold, say hello to Kahlua—an 8-year-old Treewalker Coonhound mix who defines “good ole’ boy” in the best possible way. Around 60 pounds of love and sweetness, Kahlua lives for sunshine, breezes, rustling leaves, and long, thoughtful walks. He’s the kind of dog who doesn’t rush through life—he notices everything, appreciates the little things, and reminds you to slow down and enjoy the moment. Kahlua has impeccable manners. Need to tie your shoe? He’ll stop and wait. Collar slips off? He’ll walk right over so you can fix it. He listens beautifully and truly wants to please his person. He also has a fun side—he loves squeaky toys, playing fetch (sharing the ball is a work in progress!), giving kisses, and being tucked in under cozy blankets like the pampered hound he is.  This boy is also a lake and boat enthusiast—a true water bug who will happily join you for every lakeside adventure. He grew up with other dogs and prefers being the “big guy,” doing well with respectful smaller dogs or calmer companions. Solo walks? He’s relaxed and steady. With bigger, energetic dogs? He may pull a bit in excitement. Kahlua loves kids who treat him kindly and is friendly toward cats, even though he didn’t share a home with them before. Above all else, Kahlua is drawn to people who make him feel loved—give him attention and he’ll give you his whole heart. He does get springtime seasonal allergies, so starting Apoquel in February or early March keeps him feeling his best. It’s a simple bit of care for a dog who gives so much sweetness in return. Kahlua’s former mama adored him deeply but faced life changes that made caring for him impossible. Now he’s ready for a forever home where he can spend his years surrounded by stability, love, comfort, and a family who appreciates everything he has to offer. Kahlua is ready to be someone’s best friend. If you want a loyal companion with an old soul and endless love to share, come meet this wonderful boy.  Please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com if you are interested in giving this boy the years of his life as your best sidekick ever   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comNovember 22, 2025, 9:52 pm
