Looking for a loyal companion who's equal parts adventure buddy and professional couch potato? Meet Budgie, a lovable hound girl with the sweetest soul.
At around 7 years old and 50 pounds, Budgie has found the perfect balance between playful and relaxed. She still gets the occasional burst of excitement; those long hound legs can get a little bouncy when she's happy, but she settles down quickly and is just as content spending the afternoon curled up beside you for belly rubs or napping under a shady tree.
Budgie is an easy dog to love. She is:
Sweet, affectionate, and gentle
Great with other dogs
Excellent in the car
Crate trained and housetrained
Good on a leash
Calm for baths and nail trims
No food or toy aggression
Not a digger or fence jumper
Budgie hasn't had the opportunity to be around children while in foster care, but her calm, easygoing temperament makes us think she'd do well with respectful kids. She has also shown interest in cats, mostly out of curiosity, so with slow introductions we believe she has the potential to adjust well.
Budgie has been thoroughly vetted and is ready to start her next chapter:

She wore down her front teeth sometime before coming into rescue, giving her the cutest little gummy grin. The good news is her back teeth are in great shape, her veterinarian found no dental work was needed, and she's perfectly happy showing off that unique smile every chance she gets.
Whether you're looking for a hiking companion for a trail walk, a co-pilot for car rides, or simply a best friend to lounge on the couch with while giving endless belly rubs, Budgie is happy to be right by your side.

All dog adoptions include a required, one hour virtual session with a professional trainer. Before the day of adoption, we will schedule a one hour "go home" session for you and your family with a professional trainer from Lucky Dogs Training, during which time they will discuss tips and tricks for bringing home a new dog and answer any questions you may have!
