Story
Marley has spent almost two years waiting for something most dogs are given without question — a home. Born around February, 2023, this strikingly handsome Catahoula mix boy has grown up in a shelter, watching the world move past him while he stays behind in a kennel run. It’s hard to understand how a dog so joyful, so loving, and so eager to connect has been overlooked for so long.  Maybe it's because he isn't in a big city where people frequent the local shelter looking a dog to love.  Marley is in a very rural ,out of the way shelter that few people come to. Marley is the kind of dog who lights up when someone notices him. He is friendly, social, and genuinely happy just to be included. He gets along well with other dogs and older children, and his favorite thing in the world is simply being part of the moment — whether that means splashing in water, running around outside, or settling in as your loyal couch companion. Time has softened Marley in the best ways. While he still has a playful spirit, he’s matured into a wonderfully balanced dog who knows how to enjoy both adventure and quiet companionship. He leans into affection, seeks out closeness, and gives love freely — the kind of love that feels steady, sincere, and deeply comforting. What Marley is missing isn’t training or potential — it’s belonging. He deserves a family who sees him not as another face in a kennel, but as a best friend waiting patiently for his turn. A home where he can stretch his legs, rest his head on your lap, and finally understand that he’s safe and chosen. Marley is sweet. He is beautiful. He is ready. He has already waited long enough. He deserves more than a kennel. He deserves mornings in a home, evenings with his head in your lap, and a life where he's finally chosen. If you're looking for a dog who will meet you with joy, loyalty, and an open heart every single day... Marley Is still at the shelter, still hoping, and still ready to go home. Even if all you can do is foster him while Critter Cavalry searches for a home, please consider the option to free him. All he needs is someone to look at him and say, you’re coming home with me. &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143 Please consider Marley and changing his life from a kennel run to a soft dog bed laying at your feet. Story
Meet Dakota! This little cutie was recently transferred to us from our friends at PETA, and she`s looking for her new home! Unfortunately, we don`t have much information about where she came from originally, but since being with us, Dakota has been super sweet and eager to meet everyone! She can be quite a playful and energetic gal once she gets excited, so she`ll need a home where she can get some puppy energy out! Dakota will still need some help with her training (including potty training, leash walking, manners, etc), but she`s definitely ready to learn. We aren`t sure if Dakota has lived with kids or other animals, but since she has been so social so far, we think she`d do well - just be sure to do slow introductions with new people or animals. If you`re interested in taking this sweet girl home or have any questions, please ask a kennel tech!

Story
We could see Parker’s ribs. All of them.Clearly.Despite getting three big meals a day, plus treats, Parker was losing weight. He spent his days at the shelter running in frantic circles, then pacing when he was too tired to run.At night, he barked at every sound, every shadow, as if the world itself was closing in.So we tried an experiment: a kind volunteer offered to foster Parker. And just like that, the story changed. In a quiet home with routine and calm, Parker exhaled. His ribs disappeared beneath healthy weight. His pacing slowed to a steady trot at your side. His bark softened from panic to commentary -- a running narration of life as your devoted shadow.Parker is three years old, housetrained, crate trained, and so smart you’ll catch him studying you like he’s preparing for an exam. He’s polite, sensitive, and deeply loyal -- the kind of dog who wants to get it right for you, every time. What Parker has taught us is this: he isn’t built for chaos. He doesn’t thrive in busy households, and he’s not comfortable living with other pets or children. Leashed walks and unfamiliar environments increase his anxiety -- Parker is a homebody who feels safest when the world is small, predictable, and kind. He doesn’t need adventures. He needs consistency, patience, and a person who understands that love doesn’t always look loud.If you’re looking for a steady presence rather than a whirlwind, a loyal shadow rather than a social butterfly, Parker may be exactly who you’ve been waiting for.***PARKER IS IN FOSTER. PLEASE SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT TO MEET HIM.Email contact@animalaidsociety.org, or call 757-865-0511Interested? Come for a visit any day of the week - 365 days a year between 9am - 12pm. Hope to see you soon!PLEASE NOTE: Animal Aid Society observes a 40 mile adoption radius to facilitate post adoption support and follow ups.
