Story
Some dogs wag their tails. Some wiggle their whole bodies. Some bounce like happiness is trying to escape through their paws.Whimsy does all of that - and then tops it off with a gentle kiss. It’s his signature move. He’s a healthy, neutered, 1-year-old, 45-pound Catahoula Cattle Dog who seems convinced that humans were put on earth specifically so he can love them. Bring him his food? Kiss. Toss him a toy? Kiss. Accidentally sneeze in the same room? Kiss. He’s an equal-opportunity affection machine. When I first met him, I had to put a collar on - usually a moment when even confident dogs get unsure. Whimsy was nervous, you could see it in his eyes. And what did he do?He leaned forward, stretched out his neck… and kissed me.That’s Whimsy in a nutshell. When he’s unsure, he reaches for connection. When he’s happy, he reaches for connection. And honestly, most moments in between. He loves humans of all ages, enjoys other dogs, and has the bright, eager energy of a young pup who’s ready for walks, hikes, yard adventures, and whatever happy nonsense you’re up for. And after all that? He’ll curl up next to you and attempt to transform himself into a lap dog while continuing his chosen vocation of Professional Kisser.Bring Whimsy home, and you won’t just feel loved. You’ll feel cherished.Animal Aid Society is located at 80 Butler Farm Road, Hampton, VA. Visiting hours are 9am to noon, daily, including weekends and holidays.Interested? Come for a visit any day of the week - 365 days a year between 9am - 12pm. Hope to see you soon!PLEASE NOTE: Animal Aid Society observes a 40 mile adoption radius to facilitate post adoption support and follow ups.

Story
Meet Cookie Dough! This sweet, playful young boy is full of energy and enthusiasm for life. He loves to run, play, and stay active, so he’s looking for a family that can match his lively spirit and continue working with him on his training as he grows. Cookie Dough would do best in a home without small children, where he can have space to play and learn at his own pace. With love, consistency, and plenty of activity, he’ll make a wonderful and affectionate companion

Story
Meet Twilight Sparkle! This beautiful girl and her sisters were brought to us quite some time ago from one of our shelter partners. Shortly after, they did need to undergo a lengthy and tough treatment in an isolated quarantine room for a fungal skin infection. They have since recovered and are much healthier than when they came in, but we always want to emphasize the importance of giving our animals proper medical care, a nutritious diet and an environment they can thrive in. Some facts about these girls are: they are definite foodies and will reluctantly share their food with each other, but if you have other animals at home already, we advise to feed separately just to be cautious. These kiddos will still need lots of socialization as they sadly had to miss out on a lot during their quarantine, but they have shown nothing but love and affection and are quite the sweet, loving pups. While affectionate and playful, we do still ask that adopters do slow introductions with these pups when meeting new people and animals since they have never directly met another animal while at our shelter. True to the Catahoula part of them, these pups do play rough at times and are a little nippy with each other, but tend to swap those for kisses when playing with people! These sweet pups will be sure to thrive in a home that will provide lots of love and care. If you are interested in adopting this sweet girl, please see a Kennel technician!***Please check with any leasing offices/landlords/HOAs as needed for both BREED AND WEIGHT restrictions. These girls are young and still have a lot of time to grow! While unsure just how big they will be once fully grown, we estimate them to be ~40+lbs.***
