Story
Ali might seem like a complicated guy, but we are confident once you take the time to meet and get to know him, you will see the sweet and goofy pup we have come to know. Ali was an owner surrender and after sometime working with our staff we finally have gotten him to come out of his shell. Ali will need a special home that will give him time and patience to settle into a new life. Ali will need to meet everyone that resides in his new home prior to adoption. He may require multiple visits to make sure he is comfortable with you and you are comfortable with him. Teenagers 16 and up in his home as he has never lived with young children or really interacted with them. We are recommending that Ali is not for a first time dog owner and we are asking that his future family be sure to do slow introductions with new people and animals. Ali has lived with another dog and has meet a few dogs while here at the VBSPCA and done well. We will require a meet and greet of any canine residents in the home. Thus far Ali really enjoys walks with our staff and some good treats to snack on (its how we won his heart). Our kennel team will go over in more detail about how to set up Ali for success in his future home when you visit. If you have any questions or just want more info about Ali or any of our available canines please speak with our kennel team and they will be happy to help.

Story
Loyal is a beautiful 2 year old, 68 lb Merle Catahoula with a heart as pure as his name. His story is especially touching. He was found abandoned at the future site of the new animal shelter, patiently waiting beside his belongings for the people who never returned. Despite this, Loyals spirit remains bright and full of love. He is incredibly affectionate and happiest when he is near his person, whether that means going for a car ride, walking by your side, or relaxing quietly together. Loyal rides wonderfully in the car, is friendly with other dogs, and eagerly greets new friends. He is neutered, heartworm negative, and up to date on vaccinations. Loyal is gentle, trusting, and ready to find the forever family who will give him the stability and love he has always deserved. If you are interested in meeting Loyal, email adoptpetersburg@gmail.com to learn more or set up a visit.

Story
Bruce is a 66 lb, young Catahoula mix with a playful spirit and a personality that is just as charming as his looks. He is a dog-friendly boy who enjoys being around other dogs and would likely do well in a home with a canine companion or with regular opportunities to socialize. One of Bruces most endearing features is the tiny hunters lantern at the tip of his tail, a little white accent that seems to highlight his constantly wagging excitement. True to his breed mix, Bruce shows off an adorable pointer-like stance whenever he catches an interesting scent, freezing for a moment as if he is on a mission before happily moving along. Bruce is very treat motivated, which makes him a great candidate for continued training. He is eager to learn and responds well to positive reinforcement, making him a fun and rewarding dog to work with. He would thrive in a home that can provide him with regular activity, enrichment, and continued guidance as he grows. He is neutered, heartworm negative, and up to date on vaccinations. Whether it is walks, playtime, or learning new tricks, Bruce is ready to be your enthusiastic partner. If you are looking for a friendly, engaging, and slightly goofy companion with a unique personality, Bruce may be the perfect fit for you.
