Story
Meet Penny!
Penny is a 5-year-old, 18lb Cavapoo who is discovering what it means to be cherished as a beloved family dog. After spending the first five years of her life in a commercial breeding facility, this sweet girl is discovering the world around her and blossoming more and more every day.
Penny is happiest when she is close to her people. Whether you're relaxing on the couch, spending time outdoors, working from home, or simply going about your day, she wants to be right there with you. She loves the company of other animals and has done wonderfully with dogs and cats, as well as children of all ages. She greets new people with an enthusiastic tail wag and a gentle, friendly personality.
Penny is making wonderful progress with crate and house training and is learning to walk on a leash, although she is still a little unsure of it. She is smart, observant, and responds beautifully to patience, praise, and encouragement. She is also continuing to develop healthy food routines and may benefit from continued appetite support as she adjusts to her new life. She loves discovering new experiences and has the cutest little "point" pose when she gets playful. And those big brown eyes? They seem to tell you just how much love she has to give.
Penny would do best with a patient, kind, loving family who understands that she is still learning many of the things other dogs may have experienced since puppyhood. A family willing to give her time, consistency, reassurance, and plenty of positive encouragement will be rewarded with an incredibly devoted companion.
Because Penny loves being around other dogs and has done so well with canine friends, she would likely thrive in a home with another friendly, confident dog who can provide companionship and help show her the ropes.
Penny can experience some anxiety when separated from her people, so she would do best with a family that is able to spend plenty of time with her and understands that she may need reassurance as she continues building confidence. Sleeping near her people helps her feel secure, and she would love nothing more than to be part of her family's everyday life.
Penny doesn't need a perfect family. She needs her family. Someone who will celebrate the little victories, be patient with the things she's still learning, and give her the opportunity to become the best version of herself.
After five years of giving so much of herself, Penny is ready to experience the simple joy of being someone's beloved companion.
If you're looking for a sweet, gentle girl who is ready to discover all the joys of being part of a family, Penny may be your girl!
Penny is fostered in the Cincinnati area. Her adoption fee is $450.00.
To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt
All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals.
For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible.
We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.
