Story
We are helping our family look for a very special home for Banjo, a senior cattle dog mix. Banjo is a sweet and loyal medium sized dog (44 lbs) – see images. He loves warm sunny spots, watching the world from a window, and being in the same room as his people. He is athletic and playful outside, and very calm and relaxed indoors. He is house trained, affectionate, and very easy to live with in the right environment. Banjo needs an adult only home that is quiet and predictable, and he needs to be the only pet. He does wonderfully in calm spaces with adults, but he is not a fit for homes with children or other animals. In an adult only, pet free setting he settles beautifully and really shines. If you or someone you know has a peaceful home and would love a gentle senior companion, please let us know. Our wish is to find him a safe and loving place to enjoy his golden years.

They were feeling a little lonely on their own, so they were paired up—and quickly became the very best of friends. You’ll often find them wrestling, racing around the yard, sharing toys, or curled up together in the same bed for naps and nighttime sleep. Daily routine These boys start their day bright and early, usually between 5:30–6:00am, when playtime begins. Linus is typically the spokesperson, barking to let the humans know they’re ready to come out of the pen and start the day. Breakfast follows around 6:30–7:00am, lunch between 1:00–2:30pm, and dinner around 6–7pm. By 8–9pm, they’re happily settling into their x-pen for the night. They eat puppy kibble, enjoy dog treats, and get the occasional bully stick. Since they’re not fully vaccinated yet, they’re not going on walks, but they get plenty of playtime at home and in the yard—which they absolutely love. When no one is home, they’re safely contained in their pen. On three weekdays, that’s typically from about 7:45am until early afternoon. When the family is home, Blaze and Linus rotate between their play area, supervised time roaming the house, and joyful zoomies in the yard. Blaze was the biggest of his litter and usually led play sessions. Once on his own, a softer side emerged: Blaze is a total cuddle bug who soaks up attention, loves climbing into laps, and happily gives out kisses. Now that Linus is with him, you see both sides—high-energy play followed by sweet, intentional cuddles. When Blaze is tired, he has a signature move: he’ll quietly sit near you and look up with a hopeful expression, politely asking to be picked up and held before bedtime. He loves being held front-facing so he can see everything that’s going on, and his expressive little whines range from playful “don’t leave me behind!” to heart-melting sleepy sighs. Together Blaze and Linus are playful, energetic puppies with lots of enthusiasm for life. They love tug-of-war, chasing each other, running with kids, and tearing around the yard—especially through leaf piles. If one finds a leaf or stick, the other must have the same one, even if there are a hundred more nearby. They’re not velcro dogs, but that may be because they have each other; they naturally gravitate back together if they’re ever apart. They adore people of all ages, including kids (9–14), greeting everyone with excitement, kisses, and requests to be picked up. Both are affectionate, enjoy laps and being held, and are especially cuddly when they’re winding down after a busy day. Training & habits They’re doing well with potty pads in their pen and are learning to use pads more consistently in larger spaces. Blaze is already showing progress pottying outside, and Linus is making steady improvements with pad accuracy. As puppies, they do nip and chew, especially when excited or teething, but they’re easily redirected to toys and are learning quickly. Why you’ll love them Blaze is a beautiful mix of joyful chaos and deep sweetness—a puppy who can go full-speed one minute and melt into your arms the next. Linus is clever, athletic, and emotionally tuned in, always checking on his people and his best friend. Together, they’re funny, loving, and endlessly entertaining. Blaze and Linus are the kind of puppies who leave paw prints on your heart—and who will happily end every day with one last cuddle before bed.      January 18, 2026, 3:46 pm

To be considered for adoption, pls submit an application in advance.   Adoption fee: $700 Meet Bob Marley!   When Bob Marley, a 5 year old, 11 lb Poodle mix, arrived at the shelter, he was buried under severe mats and dreadlocks— so caked with urine, feces, and filth that the dog underneath was barely visible. Every tug of his coat caused him pain. Volunteers removed what they safely could, and at his professional grooming appointment, Bob had to be shaved all the way down. Now, beneath all that, a sweet, expressive Poodle mix has emerged— clean, comfortable, and ready to start fresh. His beautiful, fluffy coat will grow back, but Bob’s gentle heart is already on full display.   A Day in the Life   Bob wakes up between 7–9am, then heads into the backyard for a potty break and some morning playtime— anywhere from 30 minutes to a full hour. Breakfast follows: one cup of kibble topped with a jerky treat.   On workdays, Bob accompanies his foster to the doggy salon. He enjoys calmly roaming around, taking in the activity, and sometimes interacting with other dogs. He also gets a short crate break to relax.   On days off, the routine is the same, with added walks or zoomies around the house. His second meal is between 6–8pm.   Personality & Progress   In his first few days, Bob was anxious— pacing, struggling to settle. But as he began to feel safe, his tension slowly melted away. Now he can nap on his own, sleep through the night without whining, and relax comfortably even when his foster steps away.   Bob is a loving, affectionate, people-centered dog. He adores cuddles, thrives on attention, and is happiest when he’s near someone. He’s a classic velcro companion, following his person from room to room— but at bedtime, if he feels he’s gotten enough love for the day, he’ll put himself to bed without fuss. He’s tender, expressive, and truly just wants to belong.   Energy Level & Play Style   Bob has a spirited, lively personality. He enjoys activity, backyard time, and being included. He’s playful, bright, alert, and always ready for interaction. But he also knows how to settle and relax. He’s not a hyper dog—just an enthusiastic one with a happy tail and a big heart.   Leash Skills   Bob has gone on walks and does well overall—he doesn’t pull, doesn’t bark at other dogs, and isn’t distracted by squirrels. However, he may chew on his leash when he gets excited. With routine and consistency, this should improve easily.     Why Adopt Bob Marley?   Because he’s special.   Bob is joyful, loving, enthusiastic, and incredibly endearing. He has the biggest heart and a bright, expressive spirit. After surviving neglect, he hasn’t lost his faith in people—he still offers unconditional love, trust, and sweetness.   He’s the kind of dog who lights up a room with his wagging tail, who wants to be part of everything you do, and who will reward your love with limitless devotion.   Foster Favorite   Bob’s foster says her favorite thing is his unbelievable ability to spread joy. Whether it’s his happy tail, his energy, or just the pure love he radiates, Bob makes every day better. His presence alone can lift a mood—and he’s always ready to cuddle close and let you know he adores you.December 12, 2025, 3:44 am
