Story
Afina, like the view behind her, is awesome! At 2.5 years of age, this 35-pound white and black beauty lives for life’s next great adventure. Initially shy with new people, once she grew comfortable in her foster home, she revealed how loving, sweet and silly she can be. Her foster mom’s coziest, cuddliest and most constant companion, even wiggling her entire body to show how happy she is, Afina also loves toys (especially her pineapple squeaky toy), playing chase around the yard with her favorite ball, and keeping herself endlessly entertained. Never one to deny herself the pleasure of napping to restore her doggy batteries, she’s at her best when accompanying her foster mom on walks, walking to heel, on hikes and on camping trips. A well-mannered miss, who always sits politely for treats, she currently knows “sit,” “down,” “stay” and “place,” and is almost fully house-trained. Preferring the company of women in a tranquil environment with no other animals, affable Afina now hopes to perfect the rest of her commands while adoringly accompanying her fur-ever person on all of life’s great adventures. Story
Tenderhearted Toe, at around 9 months of age, was rescued from an abusive situation in the nick of time. Found by Good Samaritans with one of his legs stuck under a heavy metal fence gate, and bleeding profusely, he was brought to a vet, stitched up and medicated to prevent infection. Sweet, affectionate and loving despite his traumatic past, the 25-pound tan beauty loves his foster mom’s attention, snuggling and cuddling with her, resting his head on her, having his belly rubbed and doing the ranger crawl. Occasionally accompanying her to work, he’s an awesome, well-behaved and obedient office dog. (See the photo of Toe “checking things out”). He also loves meeting new people, happily rolling onto his belly for them and hugging their legs. Friendly and playful, he gets along easily with his doggy foster friends despite trying to steal their treats, enjoys chewing bones, taking rides in the car, and going for walks, honing his leash skills along the way. Motivated by food and love, Toe currently knows “sit,” “down” and “no,” accepts all treats gently, is crate trained, almost fully house-trained, and at work on his puppy manners. Now, for Toe to thrive, he needs a loving home with a secure 6-foot fence, and patient adopters who will perfect his manners, complete his training, including his commands, and keep him in belly rubs and cuddles fur-ever.   Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home.
