Story
Afina is the cutest munchkin in the world! At just 2-1/2 years old and only 35 pounds, she loves her toys (especially her pineapple squeaky toy) and will always want to play, wiggling her entire body when she is happy.  She also will never complain about sleeping for hours and just laying low. She walks perfectly on a leash, is house trained, and will adjust to any activity level. She can be a bit shy and timid at first, but once she gets comfortable with you, she loves being the sweetest and silliest version of herself. Afina is perfectly content with her small bubble of humans and would prefer not to have unfamiliar people or furry ones in her personal space. She needs to be the only pup in home and prefers the company of women. Once she is able to trust you fully, she is the sweetest little love bug that will provide you ample love and company for a lifetime if you give her the chance.   Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure each pet finds the best possible home, we ask that you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application received in the order they're submitted and will contact you within 48 hours (please check your spam folder for our emails). Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives!  A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you.  The adoption fee for this pet is $300. Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Motivated by food, love, and toys, he currently knows “sit,” "down," and “off” and if you’ve got a treat, he’s happy to learn more! Now all Canelo marshmallow needs is an active and loving home, with adopter(s) ready to take him on adventures, give him endless belly rubs, complete his training, and adore him for all of his days!   Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. Story
Lionel, at 6.5 months, loves laughing for the camera! Rescued by Good Samaritans from an abusive situation on an out-of-state ranch and transported here, the 25-pound tan beauty may be shy at first blush, but he warms up quickly, revealing how truly sweet and friendly he is. Now he loves snuggling with his foster mom, giving her kisses, resting his head on her, and then prancing peppily about. Agile and athletic, he also loves playing tug-o-war and chase with the resident dog, chewing bones, hard and soft toys, playing fetch and going for walks, honing his leash skills along the way. Still learning to read other dogs’ cues, Lionel has even been known to lick some of their faces! Mainly motivated by food, followed by toys and love, he currently knows “sit,” “no” and “go to crate,” accepts all treats gently, and is crate-trained and almost fully house-trained. At work on his puppy manners, and looking for love, Lionel will thrive in an active adoptive home, preferably with another dog and older children, that will perfect his manners, continue his socialization and complete his training, including his commands, in exchange for his own abiding loyalty and love.   Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure each pet finds the best possible home, we ask that you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. Story
Tenderhearted Toe, at 6.5 months of age, was rescued from an abusive situation in the nick of time. Found by good Samaritans with one of his legs stuck under a heavy metal fence gate, and bleeding profusely, he was brought to a vet, stitched up, and medicated to prevent infection. Now safe and surprisingly sweet despite his traumatic past, the 25-pound blond beauty thrives on his fosters’ attention, snuggling and cuddling with them, resting his head on them, rolling onto his back to be petted, having his belly rubbed and doing the ranger crawl. Friendly and playful, he gets along well with his doggy foster friends, although he does try to steal their treats from them, enjoys chewing bones, taking rides in the car, and going for walks, honing his leash skills along the way (he loves to roll over during a walk). Motivated by food and love, Toe currently knows “sit,” “down” and “no,” accepts all treats gently, is crate-trained and almost fully house-trained, and at work on his puppy manners. Now his fondest wish is to find an especially loving home with patient adopters who will perfect his manners, complete his training, including his commands, and keep him safe and secure fur-ever. Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure each pet finds the best possible home, we ask that you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. Story
Sweet Shenzi soaks up affection like a thirsty puppy sponge! Rescued by good Samaritans from an abusive situation on an out-of-state ranch and transported here, this 22-pound  tan cutie, now safe in her foster home, lives to love and be loved. Craving the closeness of her foster mom, she adores cuddling and snuggling with her, resting her head on her, and even seeking her out for pets. Social to a “t,” she loves play chasing and wrestling outside with her small and medium-sized doggy foster friends, respecting their cues, and being ever so gentle with each of them. She also loves going for walks alongside them, honing her leash skills with each walk, enjoys playing with toys, chewing on bones and taking rides in the car. Motivated by love, food and toys, Shenzi currently knows “come” and “sit,” is learning to like bananas and apples but loves the small training treats, accepting them gently. Highly intelligent, eager to please and easy to teach, she’s diligently at work on her puppy manners, and is crate-trained and almost fully house-trained. Now all sweet and social Shenzi needs is an especially loving home, perhaps with another playful pup, to perfect her manners, complete her training, including her commands, and keep her content, mentally and physically fur-ever. See additional photos and videos of Shenzi here.   Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. Story
Akira abounds with an enviable zest for life! At 8 months of age, this precious 32-pound puppy was rescued by Good Samaritans from an abusive situation on an out-of-state ranch and transported here. Safely settled in her foster home, she’s sweet, easygoing and calm, adores her fosters’ attention, and loves cuddling and snuggling with them as much and as often as paws-ible. As active as she is affectionate, she loves playing with two of her canine foster friends, running and chasing each other around and wrestling with them all of the time. She also loves going for walks with them, improving her leash skills daily, and will likely be a wonderful outdoors and hiking companion. Passionate about toys, Akira not only loves playing with them, she loves spreading them out everywhere, and moving blankets and small dog beds to new locations in the house. Motivated by toys, love and food, she “sits” patiently for her treats, accepting them gently, and seems to get along with the resident cats. Crate trained and almost fully house-trained, Akira will thrive in an active home preferably with a yard, perhaps another playful pup, and loving adopters to complete her training, including her commands, and ensure that she’s mentally and physically fulfilled fur-ever.   Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. Story
Dame Katniss de Barksdale Pit Mix Female 1.5 years old 38 lbs. Hello, I'm Dame Katniss de Barksdale! I’m super sweet, playful and eager to make friends with everyone I meet. I have so much love to give my forever family and I can’t wait to go home and settle into my happy new life! I’m a young, joyful, explorative girl who loves stimulation and activity, yet I can calm down and snooze peacefully or cuddle in your lap. I'm a happy-go-lucky pup who loves napping in the sun, playing in the snow and just about any kind of playtime. A true Colorado dog! I'm a big fan of giving hugs, going for car rides, and taking leisurely walks to sniff and observe the world around me. Plush toys with squeakers and lots of chew toys are my absolute favorites! I love to prance, bounce and jump when I play with my toys and when I am focused, my ears stand straight up and I get cute little forehead wrinkles. I am a bright, attentive, good listener who is eager to learn. Training me should be fun because I love interaction and I’m motivated by food and treats. I will voluntarily enter my crate to rest and can easily be guided in with treats or toys if needed. I’m learning to “sit” and I go potty pretty quickly when I go outside. I absolutely love playing with other dogs, especially ones that match my energy and age! While my temperament is incredibly sweet and friendly, I'm still learning how to read cues from other dogs. I will continue to need positive training and patience, especially when adjusting to new environments and learning to socialize. I have met my foster’s cat and am improving each day - I am reacting to the cat less each day. With a gradual and proper introduction, I may get along well with a feline friend. I would do best with kids over 10 years old because I am so energetic that I might accidentally tackle someone very small with my exuberant love! I'm searching for a loving home that's patient and eager to help me learn and grow, as I'm still just a young pup. My tail is wagging with excitement to find my forever family who will cherish me as much as I'll cherish them! Is that you?? Please learn more about the adoption process and fill out an application at https://pawsco.org/adopt/adoption-process. I look forward to meeting you!

Sometimes, you just need a friend to bloom into your best self, and this sweetheart is no exception! Story
Hi, I'm Jade! I'm such a good girl! I'm everything people love about labs -- so sweet, so patient, and very friendly. I love going for walks and doing lots of sniffing -- the world is full of wonderful smells! I love playing with you, too, and pets, and cuddles (I make a great cushion), and I'm used to sleeping on your bed at night to keep us both cozy and comfy. Kids age 6 and older are great and I get along with dogs and cats, except when toys and food are around, so I may be best as your only pet. If you have a large back yard (like I used to have), I'll be in doggie heaven. I take ongoing medication for dry eye, and my friends will tell you how to maintain my successful care plan. If you're looking for an awesome fur-kid, I'm looking for an awesome pet-parent, and we could be a match made in heaven!May 3, 2024, 2:45 pm

Disco was found in San Antonio Texas, he was seeking refuge in bushes to stay out of the dreadful summer weather in Texas. He is super sweet! He loves to play with toys! He is high energy and still has puppy behavior. He would make the perfect dog for anyone who enjoys being active. The best part is that we have never heard him bark! No need to wear earmuffs around this sweet boy!  ##1855627##

Story
Hello! My name is Toby! I was originally found in San Antonio being given away for free. Luckily, I fell into the right hands and ended up finding my way here to Colorado through the rescue. I am ready for my forever home! I love other dogs and love to play! I love people too, although I think I would do better in a home with teenage children. I would do best in a home without cats. Do you think that I might be the next furry member of your family?! I'm so hopeful!  ##1953892##
