Story
Old Yeller, is that a new trend? Old stuff made NEW?? Cause I am NOT old, although I am Yeller, a really pretty YELLER COLOR!!! :) I am a Yeller Chesapeake bay retriever/ YELLER lab mix, it is important for my new family to know about the Chesapeake bay breed. We can be very stubborn, smart and independent and I really like to be in charge, so my new family needs to be strong leaders too. I am a handsome bloke, with swirls of yellow and white all through my coat. I am very smart and very sweet. I can from a high kill shelter with no hope- Now I EXUDE hope!! And LOVE!!! I WAS heartworm positive but have already finished the treatment and am NEGATIVE and just stay on prevention for the rest of my life. I am good with other dogs, but really would be best in an only dog home, cause I want all the attention :) I LOVE MY people and I tend to take "control" of my home so have to have a couple of things... 1) STRONG leadership owner, 2) I have to have an owner who will be wiling to not let me meet everyone who visits.. I want to protect my home a little too much... and 3) I have to stay in the San Antonio/TX area so my rescue friends can keep close tabs on me and how i am doing :) I have been running and playing since I am safe, but really am a couch potato. I am a bigger boy and about 65-70#. Look me up, get my number, text or call me OR just APPLY to ADOPT ME!!! I will be waiting by the phone!!! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX)

Story
Name: Oswald Sex: Male Estimated Age: About 8 weeks old (as of 2/22) Best Guess for Breed: Mixed Breed Weight: About 8 lbs (as of 2/22) Lives With: Dogs, kids and all people! Housebroken? He’s working on his potty training and making great progress! Story: Oswald was rescued from a shelter in Alabama with his sister. We are so happy to have him safe and sound in a foster home in the DC area now. Oswald is a happy sweetie who loves people and gets along great with other dogs and puppies. He knows just how to get comfortable up on the couch with his humans, and will love to join you on walks and trots around the neighborhood. Oswald is just looking for someone to be his new best furend and we know that he will repay them with endless amounts of love and tail wags. Like all dogs, Oswald will need an adopter who is committed to setting him up for success by enrolling in obedience training and exercising him both mentally and physically. He will also need love, patience, and socialization in order to thrive! What my foster says: If you’re looking for a snuggle bug with a side of silliness, Oswald is your guy! Oswald is easygoing, affectionate, and snuggly. He loves people and other dogs, but would do best in a home without kitties because he tries to chase and play. He can sometimes be a bit shy with people he doesn’t know and will need to get out in the world and start socializing. He hasn’t met many children yet, but he seemed to like them at adoption events. Oswald likes his toys. He is especially fond of toys he can chew on. He is cautious when he is outside in the backyard. It is all new to him so he doesn’t wander too far from the door. Oswald is still very young and working on house training. He is learning to use pee pads in the house and does go when he is let outside in the morning. Oswald is crate trained and sleeps in his crate all night and during nap times. He is still getting used to not having his sister in the crate with him. When he gets lonely he barks for a short time and then goes back to sleep. Overall, he’s a super sweet, snuggly, trainable puppy looking for his furever home. The fee to adopt Oswald is $475. That covers the cost of all his vaccines, the collar he’s wearing, his transport to DC and his care in his foster home. He’s up to date on all age appropriate vaccines. If you think that Oswald might be your perfect match, apply today!March 11, 2026, 3:44 pm

Story
Name: Mac and Cheese Sex: Male Estimated Age: About 1-2 years old Best Guess for Breed: Yellow Lab Mix Weight: About 55 lbs Lives With: Dogs, cats, kids and all people! Housebroken? He’s potty trained. Story: Mac and Cheese was rescued from a shelter in Alabama. We are so happy to have him safe and sound in a foster home in the DC area now. Mac and Cheese is a happy sweetie who loves people and gets along great with other dogs and puppies. He knows just how to get comfortable up on the couch with his humans, and will love to join you on walks and trots around the neighborhood. Mac and Cheese is just looking for someone to be his new best furend and we know that he will repay them with endless amounts of love and tail wags. Like all dogs, Mac and Cheese will need an adopter who is committed to setting him up for success by enrolling in obedience training and exercising him both mentally and physically. He will also need love, patience, and socialization in order to thrive! What my foster says: Mac and Cheese is a sweet boy that loves comfy spaces to lounge, scratches behind his ears, a good squeaky toy, and any treats you’re willing to share with him. He is highly motivated by food and learned “sit” very quickly. He hasn’t had any accidents in the house and does pretty well on leash (though he could use some additional leash training to help with squirrel distractions). Mac gets along with other dogs and people. He has short bursts of energy, but really just wants to hang on the couch (I have been redirecting off the couch I case his forever humans are not dogs on the couch people). He’s also doing really well with his crate training - he’s starting to go in without being coaxed and will now walk in if I pint and say “go”.  He knows he’ll get a little treat when he does. He’s a really good boy and will make the best family member! The fee to adopt Mac and Cheese is $475. That covers the cost of all his vaccines, his neuter, the collar he’s wearing, his transport to DC and his care in his foster home. He’s up to date on all age appropriate vaccines. If you think that Mac and Cheese might be your perfect match, apply today!March 8, 2026, 4:15 pm

Story
Ready to bring the noise? Meet THUNDA! Thunda is a loving, goofy, high-energy sweetheart who’s equal parts storm and sunshine! This athletic, playful guy has a heart as big as his zoomies and a personality that lights up every room. He’s housetrained, sleeps soundly through the night, and knows plenty of commands like sit, down, bang, up, wait, and come here—proof that he’s as smart as he is fun! Thunda loves toys (especially soft ones he can tear apart), long walks, and tug-of-war sessions. He walks well on a harness, though he can get a little overexcited when he spots another dog or animal—he just wants to say hi and play! He’s done great being left alone in his crate for a few hours and settles calmly when you’re away. Thunda also rides nicely in the car once he’s cozy in his covered crate with some treats. This social butterfly doesn’t have a mean bone in his body—he’s all love, kisses, and tail wags. He’d thrive with an active family or a doggy friend who can keep up with his joyful energy. If you’re ready for a loyal, affectionate companion who brings excitement wherever he goes, come meet Thunda—just be prepared for a little thunder and a whole lot of love!
