Story
Meet our handsome Jaleo puppy! Jaleo is a 12-week-old male black lab/German shepherd mix. He has been raised by his wonderful mom (Molly), but he is now ready for his forever home:) Jaleo is happy, playful and well-rounded puppy. He is currently in foster care with other dogs and is receiving lots of socialization. Jaleo loves to play with his doggie toys and enjoys cuddling with his foster parents. Because he is a young puppy, he'll require an adopter who is at home a good portion of the day to continue training - no exceptions! This puppy is up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, microchipped and will need to be spayed at the age of 6 months. The Adoption Fee for this puppy $400.00. A refundable spay/neuter deposit will be added to the adoption fee for puppies and kittens. ***Please note, this pup's immune system will not be fully functioning until about 16 weeks of age and therefore, s/he is not suited for Apartment/Condo living or Town homes without a private fenced yard and will not be able to go to public places where s/he could possibly be exposed to the germs of unvaccinated dogs, such as PetSmart/PetCo and dog parks until s/he is 16 weeks old*** ***You must be at least 25 years of age to adopt from CKRescue*** The adoption fee for this dog is $400, which helps with the cost of routine vet care. This fee DOES NOT INCLUDE spay/neuter if the pup is not already spayed/neutered. If the animal you are adopting is not already spayed/neutered, you will be required to sign a contract legally obligating you to have the animal altered. A $100.00 fee will be returned to the adopter once the animal has been sterilized. We will provide information on this process during the approval process. ***Note that puppy adoption fees most often help generate revenue that goes towards older, special needs animals that need our help. Surgeries, heartworm treatment, boarding costs and/or all things that often result in adoptable dogs and cats being left behind to be euthanized. So, adopting a puppy saves not just one life, but many! ***Please note that our first step in approving adoption applicants is to complete a vet check. Vetting of current and past pets is very important to us; thus, we will be speaking with the vet(s) listed on your application to ensure that your current and previous pet(s) are kept up to date on vaccines (including rabies), spayed or neutered, maintained on appropriate monthly preventatives and examined annually by your vet.*** Our organization cannot guarantee the exact breed of any animal in our care. The breed listed is based on any background we may have been provided, and/or the general appearance of the animal. **Please visit www.caninesandkittiesrescue.org to complete our non-binding application.**

Story
MEET GINGER!   This 4 year old mixed breed has a ginger coat and can be very opinionated. She was found in a home with three other dogs whose person had passed away. We thought all four of the dogs were bonded, but Ginger quickly made it known that she was tired of dealing with the other dogs. Ginger is great with people and often seeks them out for a bit of a leaning rub down. Her curly fur reminds us of a Chesapeake Bay Retriever, but at 58 lbs, she is smaller (and much less willing to retrieve anything) than a Chessie.    Ginger is quick to correct the other dogs she lived with, and she is the first one out the door when it's outside time. She prefers to be off on her own but she is polite with Rusty, who we believe is her older brother.    Ginger will wear a collar, but she has been uncomfortable with anyone approaching her neck area. She will walk on a leash but doesn't like the pressure she feels. She is house broken and crate trained and does well in the car. She knows no commands and would do best in a situation where she is the only dog in a home with a fenced in yard. She can be aloof, but once she warms up to people, they are her friends for life.    Ginger was Lyme positive at her last vet visit and was successfully treated with doxycycline. She may test positive in the future but not need antibiotics. Ginger's adoption donation fee is $250, which includes spay/neuter, routine vetting and a microchip.  You can apply for Ginger by filling out our online application, which is found on our website www.tarashouse.net or www.tarashouse.org.  Please email us at info@tarashouse.net with any questions.September 12, 2023, 3:52 pm

Story
Old Yeller, is that a new trend? Old stuff made NEW?? Cause I am NOT old, although I am Yeller, a really pretty YELLER COLOR!!! :) I am a Yeller Chesapeake bay retriever/ YELLER lab mix, it is important for my new family to know about the Chesapeake bay breed. We can be very stubborn, smart and independent and I really like to be in charge, so my new family needs to be strong leaders too. I am a handsome bloke, with swirls of yellow and white all through my coat. I am very smart and very sweet. I can from a high kill shelter with no hope- Now I EXUDE hope!! And LOVE!!! I WAS heartworm positive but have already finished the treatment and am NEGATIVE and just stay on prevention for the rest of my life. I am good with other dogs, but really would be best in an only dog home, cause I want all the attention :) I LOVE MY people and I tend to take "control" of my home so have to have a couple of things... 1) STRONG leadership owner, 2) I have to have an owner who will be wiling to not let me meet everyone who visits.. I want to protect my home a little too much... and 3) I have to stay in the San Antonio/TX area so my rescue friends can keep close tabs on me and how i am doing :) I have been running and playing since I am safe, but really am a couch potato. I am a bigger boy and about 65-70#. Look me up, get my number, text or call me OR just APPLY to ADOPT ME!!! I will be waiting by the phone!!! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX)

These pups are in Rockville, Maryland too!

Story
Meet Eli! A handsome, 4 month old, lab/hound mix. As soon as he saw his foster's yard, he started zooming around and has gotten quite good at 'catch me if you can'. He gets along well with other dogs and is respectful of those who don't want to play as much as he does. Like his sister, Eli hasn't met a human he doesn't like and is eager to find one (or more) to call his own. He is a smart boy that already comes when he is called, walks well on leash, and has almost mastered house training! He stays quietly in a pen with his sister at night and while unsupervised, so we believe he will transition well to a crate. Also like his sister, Eli will require a fenced yard for his frequent zoomie sessions. Are you Eli's person? The adoption fee for this dog is $375, which helps with the cost of routine vet care. An additional $100 spay/neuter deposit is required at time of adoption. **No extensions or exceptions will be made to the required spay/neuter date. Puppies require an adopter who is home a good part of the day to continue their training - no exceptions! They are up-to-date on age appropriate vaccines and preventatives and will need to be spayed/neutered at the age of 6 months. Please note, this pup's immune system will not be fully functioning until about 16 weeks of age and therefore, s/he is not suited for Apartment/Condo living or Town homes without a private fenced yard and will not be able to go to public places where s/he could possibly be exposed to the germs of unvaccinated dogs, such as PetSmart/PetCo and dog parks until s/he is 16 weeks old. Story
Here is Ella! She is a 4 month old, lab/hound mix that is a sweet as she is beautiful! She is being fostered with her brother and it took this pair no time to start zooming around the yard. She is great with other dogs and easily picks up cues of who wants to play and who doesn't. As much as she is enjoying her foster's dogs, she definitely prefers humans and won't let her foster get too far out of her sight-in fact she hasn't met a human yet that she doesn't like. She is showing amazing training potential with her obvious desire to please! She's been busy learning about toys and the rules to 'catch me if you can'. Ella stays with her brother in a pen at night and when unsupervised, quietly. She will likely transition well to a crate. Ella walks well on a leash and is 98% house trained. She will require a fenced yard to zoom around in and a human to quickly become her favorite! The adoption fee for this dog is $375, which helps with the cost of routine vet care. An additional $100 spay/neuter deposit is required at time of adoption. **No extensions or exceptions will be made to the required spay/neuter date. Story
If you're looking for a puppy to grow up to be the perfect family dog, look no further! Rex, lovinglly named by his 5-year old human foster-brother after T-Rex, is a super sweet, affectionate, and well-natured puppy. Rex is great with dogs, big and small, old and young. He's also doing great with kids of all ages (he currently lives with a 8-, 5-, and 2-year old). Rex is learning house and crate training. He will need a family that will continue his socialization and training. Socializing and puppy training classes will be a great way to bond with your new puppy and set you and them up to succeed as they grow from their puppy cuteness into their adult selves. The adoption fee for this dog is $375, which helps with the cost of routine vet care. A $100 refundable spay/neuter deposit will be added to a kitten or puppies adoption fee. Puppies require an adopter who is home a good part of the day to continue their training - no exceptions!
