Story
Meet Nilo! This beautiful boy has the ultimate puppy dog eyes and one very important (self-assigned) job in his foster home: official greeter and toy presentation specialist. Every time you walk through the door - whoever you are - there he is, tail wagging, proudly showing off whichever stuffie he has chosen for the occasion. It’s his love language, and who doesn’t love a formal greeting with a gift? We found this sweet, gentle soul in the shelter looking utterly defeated, like the light had gone out of him. Shelter staff said Nilo barely moved. He just…existed. Waiting for someone to notice, waiting for someone to care. We did - and now Nilo is thriving as a Miri's boy. He settled into his foster home beautifully and immediately made it immediately clear that he only needs two things from life: his human and his stuffed octopus. Nilo is utterly devoted to his foster mom and wants to be near her all the time, lounging in the yard, on the deck, on the couch - anywhere will do as long as she's nearby. And after his human, his second greatest love is his stuffed octopus. He carries it around everywhere and especially loves showing it off to visitors at the front door. He even clutches it while he's sleeping - and yes, it really is as adorable as it sounds! Nilo is housetrained, leashtrained, a superb car passenger, and great with kids and other dogs. He and his octopus are hoping to find a forever home that is generally calm and quiet with a predictable routine. Their ideal day? Some short walks, a few rolls in the fenced-in yard, a glorious snuggle session on the couch (with ear scratches, please!) - all interspersed with some long naps, of course. Nilo would be happiest in a family where someone is home with him most of the day. While he doesn't love being left alone at first, he's fine once he learns the routine and can trust that his person is coming back. Nilo came to us very overweight so we have him on a strict diet. He needs a forever family dedicated to helping him stick to this diet so he can reach and maintain a healthy weight. This beautfiul boy has so much love to give and is so deserving of receiving it return. Could you be the person he's been waiting his whole life for? Nilo is approximately 88 lbs and 9 years old. Story
Honey is a 10-year-old rescue from Kansas City. We've had her since she was just a few months old, and she moved to Rockville with us in 2021. She is a very loving and cuddly dog. Her favorite thing to do is snuggle on the couch or make a nest in our bed while we are at our desks nearby. The only reason we are considering re-homing her is that she's having a hard time adjusting to our toddler, and we have another baby on the way. We've tried our best, but she's visibly stressed around him, even in controlled settings, and we worry it's affecting her quality of life keeping her separate from the family all the time. She also has a tendency to resource guarding (mostly of things from around the house that she collects in her bed). It's very manageable for adults who understand how to interact with a dog, but we worry it's potentially dangerous for our son, who is autistic. Honey would thrive and have lots of love to give in a home with experienced dog owners who want a couch buddy!

Bodhi has been adopted, but until transport they have us 'holding her' . Anything could occur till then. Hence, in theory Bodhi is adopted, but if you are interested in Bodhi, PLEASE do email us to ask. shaynesrescue@gmail.com. Thank you BODHI is probably a Lab mix. She is about 3 yrs old. She came into rescue in TX by literally coming up to the rescuer on her property! She is very friendly, sweet and well mannered...a real gentle soul. She is also quiet in a kennel. Bodhi had absolutely no interest in the rescuer’s 4 cats and she was great with all dogs! Because of her sweet personality, she may even be good as an ESA dog or, with the evaluation by a certified trainer, may even be good as a service dog. BODHI is exceptional on the leash. She doesn't try walking out in front or wandering. She stays right at your left side. She is not yet comfortable with doing her business on the leash, but that will come with time... and training. She is only available for a few weeks to people in the NE. If she is not pre adopted she will go to WA state to a foster Jan 9th. GREAT dog!@ This dog is CURRENTLY IN TEXAS and available for pre-adoption. Adoptions include neuter/spay, vaccinations (DHPP, Bordetella, Rabies), microchip, health certificate, transport with our professional dog transporter, and 6 mos of heart worm prevention. You can ask us about how pre-adoption works and our "trial period." If you have any questions or would like an e-mail from us as to how all of this works, text me (Terry); identify the dog's name and give me your email address... 210-394-6060. You can also go to our Facebook page... https://www.facebook.com/Pet-Central-SATX-866684826744181/ and LIKE us to help us out. After we review your application, we will contact you, and you'll have the opportunity to find out more from their foster family or the rescue. If you experience any issues filling out the application you can contact us directly at shaynerescue@gmail.com. This is ONLY if you have problems applying. If you have not applied, you will not receive a response so please only email if you have any issues applying. Adoption Fees The adoption fee includes transportation to WA/OR. All pups and dogs are fully vetted, spayed/neutered, microchipped, dewormed, have a negative heart worm test for all dogs over 6 months at time of transport, have a health certificate, and have all age-appropriate vaccinations. Some dogs/pups have additional medical, including but not limited to FHO, ACL, hernias, dental, and other vetting..

Arlo is a high energy, lovable boy. He is a best friend. He is excited for you, for other dogs, kids, people, at all times. Too excited sometimes! He struggles to socialize in an acceptable manner and he comes off as aggressive but really he just want to lick any dog or person he sees. He is funny, smart, and very cuddly. He has been my best friend for 3 years.

Good with dogs, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Cooper Age: 2 years Breed: Golden Retriever Status: Available for the right, very experienced home Cooper is not your typical golden retriever — and that’s exactly what makes him special. He is confident, driven, and highly engaged with his handler. Cooper thrives with structure, clear expectations, and purposeful interaction. He loves to work, enjoys training, and is happiest when he knows what’s being asked of him. Cooper has a solid training foundation. He understands leash work, has a reliable climb/place command, and responds well to clear leadership. He enjoys tug, will happily work for his food, and brings enthusiasm and intensity to play. This is not a couch-potato golden — he’s a dog who wants a job and a relationship built on clarity and consistency. Because of his strong personality, Cooper needs an experienced owner who is comfortable providing structure and maintaining boundaries. While he gets along well with other dogs, he would do best in a one-dog household where routines, resources, and leadership can be kept clean and predictable. He is not well suited for a busy family environment or a home with children. In the right home, Cooper is an exceptional partner: intelligent, athletic, focused, and deeply connected to his person. He is the kind of dog who will give everything to someone who understands him and appreciates what makes him different. Franklin is neutered and up-to-date on vaccines. The adoption fee for this dog is $425 which includes routine vetting and spay/neuter. Petconnect Rescue cannot guarantee the exact breed of any animal in our care. The breed listed is based on any background we may have been provided, and the general appearance of the animal at the time they enter our system.
