If there are problems with the website, please email me for help. Sugar is about 1 yr old (DOB 9/1/23), 21” tall at the shoulder and 33’ long from base of tail to her nose. She now weighs 51#. Her fur is soft and shiny, We think she is a Lab mix…according to the vet. She is a dog needing special care because she is 100% deaf. She gets along great in life depending on other dogs to know when they’re being called for dinner, etc. She is bright and happy and she has been taught a few hand signals for commands. The most difficult part is that you can’t depend on sound to get her attention. Here are the foster’s comments about her personality and behavior: This beautiful young female, Sugar, was a stray who showed up on my acreage in the fall of 2024. Over the course of several days, I could see that she was trying to eat the bark off my trees and was starving. Over the next few days, I put out a bowl of kibble every day. Sugar was leery of my presence and I was leery of hers but I was determined to help her, to rescue her and to find her the loving forever-home I knew she deserved. As it turns out, both of our sense of hesitation was completely unfounded and, from the first day after I contained her in my fenced yard, Sugar, my five other dogs, my husband, and I became the best of friends. Personality/Behavior: * Very gentle, very loving, very peaceful, wants to please her human * Very intelligent, intuitive, interactive and responsive * Responds well to men and women equally * Got along very well with my five other dogs from the first day I found her (male Siberian Husky, male Australian Shepherd, male Pekingese, female Rat Terrier and female French Bulldog) * Intuitively knows which of my dogs she can play with and to what degree * Submissive and respectful to other dogs and people; responds to boundaries * So far, Sugar has been an outdoor dog but I believe she will make a fabulous indoor/outdoor companion in the future * Sugar only barks when she sees a stranger, a deer coming too close the fence, etc. Sugar barks for "good reasons"; she does not bark just to bark. Because she is deaf, Sugar, generally, barks at things she can see and not hear. For example, Sugar does not bark when other dogs bark, when ambulances drive by, fireworks, etc. * Learned how to sit with me using hand signals and treats * I do not know if Sugar is potty-trained because I have not let her in the house. Sugar has never gone to the bathroom in her very large partition nor on the concrete patio. Sugar has only ever gone to the bathroom in the far side of the very large fenced grassy area along with my dogs. I suspect Sugar will learn to be potty-trained very quickly if she is not potty-trained already. * Has never jumped up on people * Very well behaved, smart and has a lot of potential for further training Best Suited For: * Active family who can take Sugar on regular walks * Someone with patience who can work with a deaf dog and who is able to train Sugar to be able to live inside * Sugar is not hyperactive nor does she have the personality traits of a working breed (eg. Siberian Husky). Sugar will thrive in an environment with average activity. This dog is CURRENTLY IN TEXAS and available for pre-adoption. He knows just how to get comfortable up on the couch with his humans, and will love to join you on walks and trots around the neighborhood. Age: 1 years old Size: 45 lbs Estimated breed: Labrador retriever/Shepherd mix Resident dog required as Cilantro is still working on building his self confidence. He is a very timid dog initially but with time and patience he warms up and loves.  Cilantro was found dumped on the side of the road with his 6 littermates. They were completely emaciated and starved for food. Fortunately, a Good Samaritan picked them up and took them to the shelter, where they could finally eat and drink, but they still were not safe. We worked with another rescue to take the puppies into our care, and were able to bring Basil and Cilantro in foster care to wait for their forever homes! Basil did find a home, but Cilantro is still waiting patiently for his. He is a shy but sweet puppy who does great with other dogs and people! The name says it all!! Lovie is one of the loviest 1 year old dog you will ever meet.  She is a happy, go lucky girl who loves to play with her toys and bones (that she has no problem sharing) and just wants to be in loving company. She is great with all people and kids of all ages and sizes, including babies!  She has been great with dogs!! She prefers a home with no small dogs or cats. Going for walks is one of her best qualities as she walks beautifully on a leash. Meet Milhouse! This big-hearted goofball is equal parts adventure buddy and couch potato. Milhouse is house-trained, sleeps through the night, and knows a surprising number of words—he’s smart, eager to please, and always curious about what you’re up to (expect a shadow with four paws!).He loves toys of all kinds, especially ones he can tug or chase—and yes, stuffies don’t last long in his world. He’s got great dog social skills and enjoys tug-of-war with his canine friends. On walks, he pulls a bit at first but settles down with some guidance (he’s working on those leash manners!).Milhouse’s dream day? A little hike, a car ride, then hours of cuddling with his people. Sweet Tulip is looking for a new home. She previously lived with a family with younger kids. This environment turned out to be a bit too much for this old soul. She's thriving in her foster home (who has teenage kids). Tulip is timid when meeting new dogs but warms up, as long as she's given space. The same applies to meeting new people. She's cautious and will need a family who's able to be patient with this finicky girl. A quiet home with another quiet dog or cat would be perfect for Tulip. This girl has basic obedience down pat and is good on leash. Do you have a cat? That's great because Tulip loves them! She's a master snuggler and loves to play with her toys. She's fully housetrained, crate trained and very respectful within the home. She's a low energy gal who's ready to find her forever spot. Tulip is spayed and up-to-date on vaccines.
