Are you looking for a big, sweet soul to join you for a swim and a hike and a couch cuddle session to top off the day? If so, come and meet Hailey! She is shy at first and can get overwhelmed by the chaos of the world, so she`ll prefer a calmer home without other dogs or young children. Being the queen of the castle also allows her to hog ALL the treats, which is truly the quickest way to win this girl`s heart! If you agree that snacks and adventures and snuggles are really all any of us need in life, come meet Hailey between 11am-6pm! Are you viewing my information on a third party site like Petfinder.com? Make sure you stop by www.loudoun.gov/animals to see the most up-to-date information about me! I might already have an adoption pending!

Story
MEET GINGER!   This 4 year old mixed breed has a ginger coat and can be very opinionated. She was found in a home with three other dogs whose person had passed away. We thought all four of the dogs were bonded, but Ginger quickly made it known that she was tired of dealing with the other dogs. Ginger is great with people and often seeks them out for a bit of a leaning rub down. Her curly fur reminds us of a Chesapeake Bay Retriever, but at 58 lbs, she is smaller (and much less willing to retrieve anything) than a Chessie.    Ginger is quick to correct the other dogs she lived with, and she is the first one out the door when it's outside time. She prefers to be off on her own but she is polite with Rusty, who we believe is her older brother.    Ginger will wear a collar, but she has been uncomfortable with anyone approaching her neck area. She will walk on a leash but doesn't like the pressure she feels. She is house broken and crate trained and does well in the car. She knows no commands and would do best in a situation where she is the only dog in a home with a fenced in yard. She can be aloof, but once she warms up to people, they are her friends for life.    Ginger was Lyme positive at her last vet visit and was successfully treated with doxycycline. She may test positive in the future but not need antibiotics. Ginger's adoption donation fee is $250, which includes spay/neuter, routine vetting and a microchip.  You can apply for Ginger by filling out our online application, which is found on our website www.tarashouse.net or www.tarashouse.org.  Please email us at info@tarashouse.net with any questions.June 6, 2023, 3:41 pm

Old Yeller, is that a new trend? Old stuff made NEW?? Cause I am NOT old, although I am Yeller, a really pretty YELLER COLOR!!! :) I am a Yeller Chesapeake bay retriever/ YELLER lab mix, it is important for my new family to know about the Chesapeake bay breed. We can be very stubborn, smart and independent and I really like to be in charge, so my new family needs to be strong leaders too. I am a handsome bloke, with swirls of yellow and white all through my coat. I am very smart and very sweet. I can from a high kill shelter with no hope- Now I EXUDE hope!! And LOVE!!! I am heartworm positive but have already finished the treatment and am just on prevention for the rest of the year. I am good with other dogs, but really would be best in an only dog home, cause I want all the attention :) I LOVE MY people and I tend to take "control" of my home so have to have a couple of things... 1) STRONG leadership owner, 2) I have to have an owner who will be wiling to not let me meet everyone who visits.. I want to protect my home a little too much... and 3) I have to stay in the San Antonio/TX area so my rescue friends can keep close tabs on me and how i am doing :) I have been running and playing since I am safe, but really am a couch potato. I am a bigger boy, about 65-70# and am 6 yrs old. Look me up, get my number, text or call me OR just APPLY to ADOPT ME!!! I will be waiting by the phone!!! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX)

Story
Meet Lily! This pretty young pup is very fortunate to have found her way to rescue. She was being kept penned in the backyard of an abandoned home. Her owners would check in on her every few days, but she would go days without fresh water, consistent food, or human interaction. Thankfully, they realized this was not a good life for Lily and surrendered her to the rescue. Worthy Dog saved three other dogs from this same property just last year. This family tends to collect dogs and got Lily for free from a Craigslist post. Why they were seeking out a dog just to keep her penned in the yard of a home where they no longer live is something we will never understand. Thankfully, Lily only spent a few months in that situation and is a young, vibrant pup who has her whole life ahead of her. She’s been in her SC foster home for about 5 weeks now, living with another dog, and had a very easy integration. She gets daily walks to explore her community and has frequent playdates with neighborhood dogs. She’s excellent with other dogs and LOVES to play. Our hope is to find her an active family with another pup playmate in the home. She will make an exceptional pack member, has a submissive nature, and really enjoys the company of other dogs. Lily has also proven to be great with kids. Her foster parents have grandkids who visit regularly (ages 4-10 years old), and she loves to romp and play with them. She also joins her family on weekend trips to the lake and really enjoys the water. She goes in without hesitation and likes to frolic and run around on the shore. Lily would make a great hiking or kayaking buddy and is always up for a road trip. She’s wonderful in the car and has a social confidence that allows her to meet new dogs and people with ease. We checked in with Lily’s foster mom for an update: Lily has settled in really well. She is still a young dog with energy but if she gets her daily walks and playtime, she is very relaxed inside and will lie down in the house and just rest. She has liked almost everyone she has met - men, women, kids, and other dogs. We’ve only seen her leery once with a visitor who she barked at, but no aggression, more fear.  She has a lovely personality and is typically very submissive to people and will roll over and show you her belly when you meet her. She still does the young dog excited jump at first, but if you tell her NO she will stop. She is very affectionate and my husband adores her and will sit and snuggle with her alot. Lily is the dog you can take with you anywhere. She travels very well in the car and enjoys adventures. Lily is housetrained and has not had any accidents in the house, but she does have access to a dog door 24/7 so she has self regulated herself. She is also crate trained, and I will typically crate her if I’m gone for more than three hours. We don’t crate her at night and she sleeps soundly on a big bed next to mine.  Lily loves to play outside, and is not afraid of any noises so she enjoys being outside while you are mowing and doing yard work. She has remarkable recall, and will come 99% of the time I call her ...even if she is way out in the yard. She LOVES all toys...she will tear up certain ones but has done well with a few tougher ones.  She is great at retrieving and will bring her ball or toy back to you to keep throwing it. Lily loves to walk and hike and can walk for long periods of time...at first I used a harness with the clip on the back...she pulled and was hard to manage at times. I now use an "easy walk" harness...if you haven't used one the leash attaches to the front and she walks amazingly with this harness. Even my mom who is 87 can walk her with no problems. I think the best home for her would be an active family with another playful pup in the house, and a flexible schedule. I have left her for up to 3 hours free roam in my home, but if I’m gone any longer I typically crate her. She’s still young and curious enough to get into trouble. Lily is a wonderful, good-natured pup who will make an excellent family dog. We are looking for a fun, active family for her, preferably one who has a young pup playmate in the home. Apply today! Story
Meet Dodger! Dodger was rescued from a dysfunctional home, living with an owner who suffered from dementia. She couldn’t properly care for him anymore, and thankfully, a friend of the family advocated for Dodger and got him into rescue. He needed a fair amount of vet care to get back on track. He’s been neutered and had a thorough dental cleaning with extractions, and his skin infections have been addressed thanks to his incredible foster parents, Jamie and Elijah. They nursed him through a wound recovery that took longer than we all expected to heal. They are true heroes in Dodger’s story, and we are so thankful to them. Dodger lives with his foster mom and dad, two cats, and two small Chihuahuas, Birdie and Brock, who run the show. He had an easy integration into his foster pack and quickly learned the rules of home life. He minds the sassy Chi, Birdie, who bosses everyone around, and has found an advocate in Brock, who is typically timid but has taken on a protective role with Dodger, who towers over him. It’s really cute. Dodger is curious about the cats but never aggressive. He really wants to be friends with them and gets very disappointed when they get upset about him getting a little too close. This dapper senior has rediscovered his playful side and loves his toys. He was a bit shy at first but has fully embraced family life and can best be described as a very sweet soul. Overall, he is laid back but still has bursts of playfulness. He has good energy on walks and does pretty well on leash, but does have a tendency to pull. He enjoys barking at the neighbors’ dogs and is part of the “pack” when Birdie leads backyard patrols. As soon as the excitement is over, he’s happy to curl up for a snooze. While he doesn’t always initiate it, he can be quite snuggly. Dodger is just a lovely boy who appreciates his routine and the comforts of a quiet home. He is housetrained and crate trained, but his foster parents never use the crate. He has excellent house manners and is never destructive. When visitors stop by, he’s friendly to all, but not terribly impressed by the added excitement. He really seems to enjoy that his foster parents are homebodies, and gets very excited when they return home from an outing. He will run around showing off his toys (anything plush is a hit), and he has a little stuffed toy cat that seems to be his favorite, so he parades it around frequently. This sweet soul is long overdue for a loving, stable home of his own. We are looking for a special owner who sees the beauty in senior dogs and wants to give Dodger that special forever home he deserves. Apply today! ******* PRAYING FOR AN IMMEDIATE FOSTER OR ADOPTION BEFORE 5/31******* VIDEO LINK BELOW: https://www.vzmessages.com/ol/c17a3c0be4204d0854d1cc22c64b655ddf20a947 Lola is 2-3 years old, and her current family has had her since she was a puppy. She has been an integral part of their family (infants, kids, another pup and a kitty), and has been (and is) a wonderful delight. Miss Lola is an inside pup, and loves running around in her backyard. She normally stays at home, and has limited experience on a leash. However, per our test run for a leashed walk in the backyard, we imagine she would do just fine on the leash, and that given the opportunity she would be very happy and excited to go out on regular walks. Lola is crate-trained, house-trained, and past the destructive stage. This girl will bark in case you did not hear the doorbell, or if she hears something suspicious in the middle of the night. However, she is quick to respond when told to stop. She is a bit shy at first, yet warms up quickly. She is undoubtably a great pup, and again, is kid/infant/dog & cat-friendly. Unfortunately though, the family is facing hardship, and is unable to take their dogs as they attempt to move forward. The family is unable to hold onto Lola past MAY 31. CAN YOU FOSTER OR ADOPT THIS FABULOUS FAMILY DOG? We have met this girl, and there is absolutely no reason for a great pup like this to be sent to the shelter to be euthanized. We can save her, and can only do it with the help of someone with a kind & generous heart. If she touches, moves or inspires you in any way, please reach out to us with an application or email as outlined below (ASAP): LINK TO VIDEO: https://www.vzmessages.com/ol/c17a3c0be4204d0854d1cc22c64b655ddf20a947 FOSTER APPLICATION: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1qyNxxmixBVx5uxDJgjYAW6YrKuihOsv83-4o-5d28d8/edit ADOPTION APPLICATION: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeJubAHJr4oIe4NkDxnhfBPM1jVRO2s4S0xIjrHVlElAMQWJA/viewform EMAIL: Or you can email us at FurEverAfterLegacy@gmail.com for further conversation. ********************************************************** LOLA is currently in Houston, TX, and the adoption fee includes transport to your state.
