Story
Meet Reece! Reece is 7-8 months old, neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready to go home with you! If we were allowed to use the word “Lab” as an adjective, noun, and verb, we would describe him as the labbiest lab to ever lab. Reece loves water (splashing in it, swimming in it, drinking it, etc), meeting new people, playing with other dogs, fetching after his stuffed cow toy, finding sunny spots to sunbathe in, and going for long walks. He is doing well with crate training, house training, and leash walking. Like any puppy, it will be your responsibility to keep working with him on these things but we believe he is well on his way to being an excellent dog. Reece is a super lovable goofball that will fit in well to any active home. He has a great “off switch” and enjoys curling up on the rug nearby and watching whatever you are doing. He has not lived with cats before but we believe he would be fine with a proper introduction and supervision. His biggest vices are overexcitement when passing other dogs on walks and crying in the crate at night so please be ready to address those with him. Once he settles in the crate, he will sleep 8+ hours. This guy has a big golden heart and can’t wait to meet you! Reece has lived with kids 5 and older and did very well with them. We would not recommend kids younger than that at this time. He would prefer a home with another dog to play with but it is not necessary as long as you are active and willing to play with him and walk him.

Story
Hi, I’m Salem! I am 5 months old and 40 pounds! I love snuggles, belly rubs, and, most of all, treats! I am very shy at first but once you have patience with me I am your new best friend. I tend to be quiet, unless I am playing with my toys, or people then I will slide and glide over the floor. I walk pretty well on my leash, I tend to pull but when you stop I will stop too and walk by your side. I’m playful and love spending time together. I get along great with other dogs, and kids, I haven’t met any cats yet, but I think I’d do fine with a slow introduction. I love my crate, even though I sometimes bark or whine a bit before settling in. I’m doing really well with potty training too! I go outside, and do not have accident in the house. I will go to the door when I really need to go out. Do not forget to grab our coats! I get cold easily and start shaking so I need my coat on really cold days. We could be matching buddies with our jackets! I would love that so much! If you like cuddles, playtime, and snacks as much as I do, I think we’ll be the perfect match! Lets meet, and become forever friends!

***LOCAL ADOPTER (within 50 miles of Apex, NC) NEEDED! This dog is scheduled to be neutered at our partner vet on 1/9.*** Hi, I’m Waylon! I’m a one year old lab mix. I’m past the puppy stage, and ready for my new family. Foster mom thinks I have some hound in me because I’m constantly sniffing out all the things. I was picked up as a super skinny stray, but I’m nearly back to a normal weight and I should top out around 50 pounds. I’m heartworm negative, healthy, smart, a great car riding companion, and have an appointment to be neutered on 1/9/2026. I love being in a house and with my people. I’m fully house trained and will stand by the door to ask to go out. I sleep quietly all night in a crate by their bed and hang out there when they are out. Since being here I’ve learned sit, wait, leave it, and down. I’m super food motivated so it’s easy for me to learn new things. I’m learning to be better on a leash, but I do pull because there is so much to smell, see, and do!! Foster mom says I’m learning heel & getting better every walk. Waylon is a typical young & goofy, loveable lab mix past the puppy stage and ready for his happily ever after. He loves toys and to run in the fenced backyard as much as cuddling on the couch. He’s still learning boundaries and will leap into your lap or use his paws to communicate when he wants attention. Waylon generally needs slow introductions to other dogs, but this will likely improve post neuter surgery. Waylon would be a great addition to an active individual or family with children over age 8. If Waylon seems like your guy, he’d love to meet you.

Story
Hey there! I'm Jazzy and I'm a three month old sweetie pie with the most gorgeous eyes and goofy ears. I was surrendered by my owner right before Christmas and Peak Lab scooped me up from the shelter. I'm now living in my foster home with my 2 year old peak lab brother, my 9 year old peak lab sister, 11 and 7 year old human sister, and lots of chickens. I absolutely love playing with the resident dogs in my home. I'm very respectful of the old lady dog who is very picky about when she wants to engage with me. And the 2 year old lab in my home is doing a good job of teaching me how to play appropriately. We love to play tug of war and wrestle! I sleep quietly in my crate all night long until my foster parents decide it's time to get up in the morning. I'm also doing great with my potty training! I don't mind riding in the car, either. I'm not very mouthy and I'm very good at finding dog toys and bones to chew on - I especially love a nylabone. I'm really smart and so far have been a breeze to train. I pick up on things really quickly and have learned how to sit and wait for my food. I have not met a cat, but seem to respect the boundaries of the other animals in my home so my foster mom suspects I'd do ok. I'm a little jumpy because I love people so much and am just a puppy, afterall. Because of that, I don't know that I'd be great with little kids. Middle elementary aged kids and up are probably the right fit for me. Did I mention that I am an all star snuggler? I love to snuggle with other dogs, kids, people - I do not discriminate. Several of the human members of my house have said that they would totally foster fail with me if it wasn't for already having a couple of big dogs. There's just something so sweet, spunky and fun about me! I am up to date on my vaccines and will need to be spayed in the future. Are you looking for a puppy that is out of the tiny puppy stage, sleeping through the night, close to being potty trained, has energy when you need it but will also settle in for a good snuggle? That's me!! Apply to adopt me today! And to check out more pictures and videos of me, go to @norbuxfosterpups on instagram.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All dogs on our website ARE available and require an approved Best Friend Pet Adoption application before you can be considered or meet any of our dogs.  The link to our application is in the dogs bio below or at https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC  .      Herbie loves people.  He gets excited but doesn't bark or jump when people come in the house or when we walk by people outside. He sleeps by himself on the sofa during the day and all night, but loves it best when someone sits with him. He wants to be a lap dog!    Herbie loves food but is very patient when he is fed. He sits and waits for "OK" when we put his food bowl down.  He's pretty gentle taking treats and loves to work food puzzles.    Herbie loves our two 30 min walks.  But he would probably like even more walks.  He goes outside in the yard a few times a day to do his business but he doesn't just hang out in the yard or on the deck very long unless a human is with him.  He is a people focused dog! We think he'd do fine with a house or apt with no fenced yard and a just walks.   Herbie does fine on walks but does need further leash walking skills.  When we pass people he is calm and happy, and he sits on command to let people pass without approaching them. Herbie can be reactive when we see other dogs on walks. We cross the street or move off the trail/sidewalk 6-10 feel to give plenty of room.  He occasionally jumps and barks depeding on the other dog and how close we are. He's making  progress though.     Herbie does not need to be crated. We have left him for 3-4 hours at a time which works fine as long as he's had a walk/meal and is ready to settle for a while.  He is mainly housebroken.   He will stand by the back door and whine to let us know when he needs to go outside.    Herbie is very vocal when riding in a car.  A few trips to the vet is fine.  If  you want a dog for a cross country road trip, Herbie will not be packing his bags to come along with you!    Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.  Applicants must live no further than one hour from Cary NC as our dogs must be seen by a BFPA veterinarian for all medical care prior to adoptions being finalized.  Our foster guardians deliver dogs to their new homes for adoption trials and we do home visits to finalize all adoptions.  We therefore require applicants to live within an hours drive of Cary NC.    INTERESTED IN ADOPTING HERBIE? If so, please fill out our dog adoption application by copying and pasting this link in a new browser window: https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 20, 2025, 3:13 pm

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. You MUST submit a Best Friend Pet Adoption application to be considered for Linus. The  application and additional information can be found at bfpa.org or    https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC Meet one of the Charlie Brown Puppies, Linus – a tender-hearted pup with the soul of a gentle giant and the goofy charm of a big ol’ puppy.  He is a year old and around 65–70 lbs, Linus is already house-trained, crate-trained, fully vetted, and ready to find a place to call home. Linus may be a little shy with new people, but once you’re “his person,” he’s all in. Expect full-body wiggles, goofy grins, and endless snuggles from this loyal boy. He just needs a little patience and understanding to feel safe, and once he does, you’ll have a best friend for life. His Story: Linus came to BFPA as a tiny puppy. He and his litter of six had a rough start—surrendered to a rural shelter at just 2½ weeks old, they had to be bottle-fed by special fosters before moving to regular foster homes. As Linus grew he began resource guarding food and toys with other dogs (never with humans). This isn’t unusual for pups who experienced early trauma, but to help him succeed, Linus completed an 8-week positive reinforcement program. The Perfect Home for Linus: Linus would thrive as the only pet in a calm home with older kids who understand that sometimes a pup needs space to warm up. He’s a “king of the castle” kind of guy—loyal, loving, and happiest when he can have his humans all to himself. A quieter home where he can feel secure is best. If you believe the best relationships are built on trust and you’re ready to offer a safe, loving home to a dog who truly deserves it, Linus is waiting for you. His loyalty runs deep, his heart is big, and he just needs the right person or family to let it shine. Interested in adopting Linus? Please fill out our dog adoption application—he’s ready to meet the family he’s been waiting for.  Copy and paste this link for our applicaiton:   https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC   Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 8, 2025, 11:49 am
