Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. YOU MUST SUBMIT A BEST FRIEND PET ADOPTION APPLICATION TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS PUPPY. THE APPLICATION CAN BE FOUND AT https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC Stopper is a very friendly puppy. Appropriately polite on introductions, but after that opens up more and is polite. He gets along great with my dog. He is learning boundaries from him. He gets over excited with my pits, so we're taking it one step at a time to learn boundaries with dogs that aren't as open to socializing. We have an outdoor cat that Stopper has had limited interaction with, he keeps a healthy space away from her. Stopper has met children at foster events and he has been fine. He is still a nippy puppy, so we're working on "no bite." As with all puppies, he may not be appropriate for small children. S topper is 90% housebroken. He usually signals at the door but occasionally has an accident. Stopper can go overnight without accidents. We work primarily from home, so he gets let out frequently during the day. He usually takes a couple of multiple hour naps and holds it through those. Stopper is a mostly quiet pup. Not a big barker at all. He will get playful sometimes and make noises, but nothing extreme. He has "puppy" energy right now, which I would describe as LOTS of energy and then crashes. I think he's going to be a medium - to low energy dog. Right now I think it would be GREAT if he had a fenced yard, but it's not necessary. Without a fenced yard, he would absolutely need to get the puppy energy out. So walks and play will have to be in place. We are working on crate training. He wants to be with people, so he doesn't always love it. But, he has started this week to choose to go in and sleep on his own. He's usually quiet in his crate and understand it's where he has to be at the moment. Stoppers favorite things are: playing with his foster brother, chewing on a peanut butter Kong (extremely food motivated), blanket monster playing, cuddling when tired, puzzle toys, and exploring! Since we work from home, Stopper is around humans alot. We've left him for no more than 3 hours by himself. Stopper is SUCH a good boy! He is polite with treats and dinner. He learns quickly. He already knows sit, down, high five, touch and go to your room. We're working on wait and come. It's going really well. He listens. If you tell him to stop doing something, he just does. He likes playing by himself and with people or dogs. He likes going on walks and is leash trained. He is not reactive at all. He's such a sweetheart! And he's so goofy and funny. He's been a joy to have as a foster. He's been an extremely easy puppy. He loves trying new things and is brave. It's been such a great experience having him. He's so curious and funny. Such a good boy! Someone is going to be really lucky to have him. His mother was rescued by Best Friend Pet Adoption when her puppies were only days old. Stopper is now ready to be adopted and looking for his forever home. Can you give this cute guy the love and happiness he deserves? Stopper is a typical puppy who lives life to the fullest, is working on potty skills and loves his humans. Applicants should live within a 30-60 minute drive from the Triangle area of North Carolina. You must be close enough for us to provide all the medical care we cover before we finalize the adoption. Any adopter must be willing to travel to Raleigh for any and all medical care which is needed during the dogs adoption trial including vaccines, neuter or spay surgery. Our fosters also deliver their dogs to the adopters home and we finalize dogs in person. So living a reasonable distance is required. Any children in the home under 6 years old ideally should have experience being around dogs. Puppies can nip, bite and mouth so may not be appropriate for very young children.
