Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Max and his sister Molly were found in Clayton NC, wandering a field as puppies. They were taken in by a family that fostered Chihuahuas. After 3 years, the family couldn't care for Max and Molly, and they moved to downtown Raleigh with my family in June of 2016. We've moved around the Raleigh area since, and Max and Molly are now turning 10 years old. Our family has changed over the years and we are no longer able to provide them the life they deserve, so we've made the difficult decision to rehome, but they must go together. Max loves to be outside, napping in a sunny spot is his perfect day. Molly is cuddling homebody. They have been amazing companions to several rumble tumble kiddos over the years. They both used to like going to the dog park, but an unfortunate attack by a pit/lab mix on Molly a few years ago, coupled by a significant family change, has made them a little uneasy around dog's they meet for the first time. They are both very sweet and docile with Molly in charge.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Daisy needs to find a new home due to no fault of her own. Our new baby is very allergic so sadly, she is being rehomed after being with us since she was 6 weeks old (born June 2015). Please consider making Daisy a loving part of your family. She loves tennis balls more than anything. She is always happy to get ear scratches and belly rubs. Daisy is good with kids and other dogs, but not particularly interested in either. She is crate and potty trained, her leash skills could use some work but she is a fast learner. Daisy received her canine good citizen (CGC) certification in 2016, she is extremely food motivated and easily trained. She is a great home alarm system as she is very vocal if she hears or sees anyone or anything out of the ordinary. She barks at everything when on leash but does not get aggressive and will calm down in a few minutes after greeting. Daisy has never lived with cats but with proper introductions, she would probably do fine.

Story
Sandee is a very sweet and loving dog. She came from peak lab rescue and was very shy and scared of everything for a long time but she’s come a long way! She has professional training and knows many commands. She is well behaved and loves most people and animals. Unfortunately I cannot keep her because I will be traveling for work and then relocating.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Cooper is almost 3 years old. His birthday is May 28th, 2020. He is super adorable, and friendly with everyone. Never bites, follows command, highly food driven, he mostly chills during the day, loves to go out for short walks, and enjoys car rides, and dog parks. Having some treats handy during walks is helpful because he can get excited when he sees other humans or dogs. The magic word is "chicken" to make him do anything :-) He eats twice a day, one cup dog food for each meal. Also two full bowls of water per day which we provide along with the meals. He may need additional water after walks or playtime in the yard. We generally feed him his 1st meal between 6AM - 7AM, and the 2nd meal between 5PM - 6PM. He goes out for his business twice a day right before the meals. We also try to take him out once in the afternoon, and once before his bed time at 9PM. All in all he is a super chill family dog whom you would like to cuddle all the time! Will provide his bed, bowls & toys

Story
"Hi! My name is Zola (female), and I'm so glad you stopped by! Peak Lab Rescue pulled me and my siblings from a shelter in Chowan County, and I traveled all the way to Apex, where I am currently hanging out with my foster family. I am still a pretty young puppy, and trying to get my feel for how things work in the world. I might be a little timid, but that doesn't stop me from exploring everything! My foster family has two older dogs, who I get along great with- we love to run around in the backyard together, share toys, snuggle and nap in the sun. I also am great with kids- the foster family that helped me for a few days at first had three of them! While I haven't been introduced to cats yet, I haven't met an animal that hasn't turned into a friend. Although not totally sure, Peak thinks that I'm a hound/lab mix, which means that I'm super smart, always down to play with a toy, and want to be right by your side. If there are times I can't be right next to you, that's okay! I'm crate trained, and fully potty trained. Food is a great motivator for me-you can convince me to do a lot of things with even a small treat. Right now, my foster family is using treats to teach me how to use a doggy door, so I'm not so scared of it! An ideal home for me would be with someone who likes to go on walks, is ready to play a game of tug or fetch, and most importantly, able to give me lots of love and snuggles! I hope we get to meet soon!"

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. YOU MUST SUBMIT A BEST FRIEND PET ADOPTION APPLICATION TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS PUPPY. THE APPLICATION CAN BE FOUND AT   https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC       Stopper is a very friendly puppy.  Appropriately polite on introductions, but after that opens up more and is polite.  He gets along great with my dog.  He is learning boundaries from him.  He gets over excited with my pits, so we're taking it one step at a time to learn boundaries with dogs that aren't as open to socializing.  We have an outdoor cat that Stopper has had limited interaction with, he keeps a healthy space away from her.   Stopper  has met children at foster events and he has been fine.  He is still a nippy puppy, so we're working on "no bite." As with all puppies, he may not be appropriate for small children.  S topper is 90%  housebroken.  He usually signals at the door but occasionally has an accident.  Stopper can go overnight without accidents.  We work primarily from home, so he gets let out frequently during the day. He usually takes a couple of multiple hour naps and holds it through those.  Stopper is a mostly quiet pup.  Not a big barker at all.  He will get playful sometimes and make noises, but nothing extreme. He has "puppy" energy right now, which I would describe as LOTS of energy and then crashes. I think he's going to be a medium - to low energy dog. Right now I think it would be GREAT if he had a fenced yard, but it's not necessary. Without a fenced yard, he would absolutely need to get the puppy energy out. So walks and play will have to be in place.  We are working on crate training.   He wants to be with people, so he doesn't always love it.  But, he has started this week to choose to go in and sleep on his own.  He's usually quiet in his crate and understand it's where he has to be at the moment.  Stoppers favorite things are: playing with his foster brother,  chewing on a peanut butter Kong (extremely food motivated), blanket monster playing, cuddling when tired, puzzle toys, and exploring! Since we work from home, Stopper is around humans alot. We've left him for no more than 3 hours by himself. Stopper is SUCH a good boy!  He is polite with treats and dinner. He learns quickly. He already knows sit, down, high five, touch and go to your room. We're working on wait and come. It's going really well. He listens. If you tell him to stop doing something, he just does. He likes playing by himself and with people or dogs. He likes going on walks and is leash trained. He is not reactive at all. He's such a sweetheart!   And he's so goofy and funny. He's been a joy to have as a foster.  He's been an extremely easy puppy.  He loves trying new things and is brave.  It's been such a great experience having him.  He's so curious and funny.  Such a good boy! Someone is going to be really lucky to have him.  His mother was rescued by Best Friend Pet Adoption when her puppies were only days old. Stopper is now ready to be adopted and looking for his forever home.  Can you give this cute guy the love and happiness he deserves? Stopper is a typical puppy who lives life to the fullest, is working on potty skills and loves his humans.      Applicants should live within a 30-60 minute drive from the Triangle area of North Carolina. You must be close enough for us to provide all the medical care we cover before we finalize the adoption. Any adopter must be willing to travel to Raleigh for any and all medical care which is needed during the dogs adoption trial including vaccines, neuter or spay surgery. Our fosters also deliver their dogs to the adopters home and we finalize dogs in person. So living a reasonable distance is required.      Any children in the home under 6 years old ideally should have experience being around dogs. Puppies can nip, bite and mouth so may not be appropriate for very young children.        Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.  INTERESTED IN ADOPTING STOPPER? Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.HELP A SENIOR DOG FIND HER HOME! Kaylee is sweet, wonderful 10 year dog looking for her forever home. When her previous owner had to go into a nursing home, she sadly had to surrender Kaylee.    Kaylee has moderate energy, will play with other dogs and can climb stairs without difficulty. Please see her video enjoying life in the backyard!    She will follow you everywhere.  She loves to be with around people.  Since she has always had the companionship of other dogs or people during the day, she needs a home with other dogs or a human who is home most of the time.    She is fostered with five other dogs (from 9 lbs. to 60 lbs.) and does fine with all of them. Kaylee is not living with a cat, so we are unsure how she would do with one. She  has not been around children but given her sweet nature I cannot imagine her being anything other than loving. During her stay with her foster family, she has had free access to a fenced in backyard via a doggie door. However, whenever her leash is pulled out, she is overjoyed and practically drags you to the car. She is an excellent car rider also! Kaylee has excellent house manners and does not need to be crated..    Kaylee is a very sweet girl who loves affections and pats. If you stop patting her, she will nudge your arm with her nose until you continue to lavish her with affection. Please consider giving this sweet girl her forever home.   Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.    Best Friend Pet Adoption prefers that adopters live no further than one hour from Cary NC as our dogs must be seen by a BFPA veterinarian for all medical care prior to adoptions being finalized.  Our foster guardians deliver dogs to their new homes for adoption trials and we do home visits to finalize all adoptions.  We will consider people who live a little further than an hour way if the fit is right for Kaylee.    INTERESTED IN ADOPTING KAYLEE? THE APPLICATION CAN BE FOUND AT   https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC         Meet Popper who was ~8 weeks old and weighed 11 lbs on March 13th.  She is expected to be 60 lbs or more once she is full grown. Popper is a fun loving puppy who can't wait to see what the world has to offer. She loves to play with her siblings and likes to be around her human. She plays, eats, potty break, sleeps....repeat!     Her Mother is 42lbs and was rescued by Best Friend Pet Adoption when her puppies were only days old. Popper is now ready to be adopted and is looking for her forever home.  Can you give this cute gal the love and happiness she deserves?      While puppies can be a lot of fun, they also require a lot of patience and training. An adopter needs to be ready for the challenge that comes with training a puppy!  They tend to mouth, nip and bite so might not be the best fit for young children who are not used to this normal behavior.     Popper has only had one set of vaccines, so will need a home with a yard of her own until she has her second vaccine in mid-April.  She cannot be allowed to go into any public areas due to the risk of infection.  Therefore she cannot live in multifamily dwellings or apartments with shared common grounds.         NOTE: Applicants should live no further than a 30-mile radius from the Triangle area of North Carolina, as you must be close enough for us to meet all the medical procedures we cover before finalizing the adoption. Any children in the home under 6 years old ideally should have experience being around dogs and puppies.    Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.  INTERESTED IN ADOPTING POPPER? Jello is doing great on potty training when taken our on a regular schedule.  He has also headed outside on his own when I’ve left the back door open to our fenced yard.   We are working on leash training, it's a work in progress.   We are also working on crate training.  He is very vocal but settles down.  His crate is in my bedroom at night.   Jello is a high energy active puppy.  His favorite things to do are what most puppies like to do,  chew, play pull with his toys and eat like he has never eaten before!  He loves his Kong and goes crazy when he sees it.  He loves to be held and cuddled.  He loves to play nonstop with his foster siblings. He would love to have another playful dog in his forever home.  Jello is a cute, happy, loving puppy.  He has lots of personality.  He is just so fun to watch explore.  If we could all see life through the eyes of a puppy!   He is smart and has so much potential.  He is very food motivated which will help with his ongoing training.    Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.       Any adopter needs to be able to travel to the Raleigh area for any and all medical care  which Best Friend Pet Adoption will pay for until he is neutered when he is 4 months old. This will entail several trips to the Raleigh area. Ideally, applicants should live within 30 miles of Raleigh but we may consider applicants who live up to an hour away if they commit to traveling to Raleigh for all medical appointments that are required before his adoption is finalized after he is neutered.     EVERY DOG HAS A STORY:  Best Friend Pet Adoption rescued his Momma, Honeybun, and didn't know she was pregnant.  What a surprise when Honeybun  gave birth shortly thereafter and had 6 gorgeous healthy puppies.  Honeybun weighs 45 and we  feel her puppies may be about the same size when full grown.     INTERESTED IN ADOPTING JELLO?  If so, you MUST submit a Best Friend Pet Adoption application to be considered.  Here is a link to the application:   https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC     Please apply now!     Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 27, 2023, 11:16 pm

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. PLEASE NOTE: If you are on PetFinder or other search site, you do NOT need to introduce yourself.  All dogs on our website ARE available and require an approved Best Friend Pet Adoption application before you can be considered or meet any of our dogs.  The link to our application is in the dogs bio below.    FOSTER COMMENTS: Boone is a beautiful, friendly Black Lab male who is 11 year old and 60 pounds.  Boone is such a good boy who deserves another good home. His owner had him since he was a puppy but unfortunately his owner has serious health issues and can longer care for Boone.  They loved Boone so much, they choose to give him up for adoption so he could continue to have a great life. Boone loves humans and canines.  He loves playing fetch with his humans more than playing with other dogs.  We do not have cats or children in our house so I have not seen how he does with them. Boone is housebroken and has great house manners, so he does not need to be crated when we are not home.  Boone  has high energy for a older dog.  A fenced yard would be nice to have but not necessary.  If no fenced yard, he would need a daily walk and some serious play time.  Bonne is leashed trained and he is very well behaved on our walks. Boone's favorite things to do are: play fetch, get pets, play fetch, destroy squeaker toys, play fetch, nap on the couch, and play fetch!  I think you get the idea!  You should plan on purchasing a ball launcher. His love of fetch knows no bounds: hot or cold, day or night, rain or shine, he's always ready to play. He loves butt scratches and does the cutest back leg tippy taps, and he'll melt for ear massages and belly rubs. He'll join you on the couch or bed, or be content with his dog bed.  Boone is looking for a family to play fetch with him and love him for the sweet boy he is.  He was loved so much by his previous owner, he needs to give that love to his new family.
