Story
Hi! My name is Dottie and I'm a 40lb ball of joy! Just look at my smiling face... I'm a social pup and I love all people, including kids! I get along really well with other dogs, too! I'm still a little scared of cats. My foster family has a bunny in a crate and I sometimes like to sniff her, but mostly I just ignore her. I love going on walks and I do great on a leash! If I do have some energy left, tug-of-war is my favorite. I'm not protective over food, toys, or even attention (although I like all three). I love sleeping in my crate all night and sometimes I like to hang out in it to take a little rest. I ALWAYS go potty outside! I have seen a vet, have all my vaccines and my microchip. I have also been spayed. I am heartworm positive, but treatment will be curative and is covered by Peak Lab Rescue at our vet in Apex. I'm a recent mother of ten(!) and I've been on maternity leave these last few months. Mama dogs are always the most grateful to be adopted and reward you with a lifetime of loyalty. I am beautiful inside and out. Please adopt me and give me all the love I deserve!

Story
Hey there, I'm Kari! Roughly 2-3 years old, but who's counting? I'm a big pawed girl checking in at just over 60 lbs. I'm spayed, chipped and up to date on my vaccinations. I'm thrilled to join Peak Lab Rescue as foster care has been the highlight of my life. I check all the boxes for being a great family addition. I wait patiently by the door when nature calls, and enjoy a peaceful slumber in a comfy bed ALL NIGHT LONG. Crate training? Nailed it. I'm friendly with other dogs. From my long stay in foster care, I've easily adapted to different households and have lived with different dogs, a cat, 3 ducks and a 5 year old human. I'm kind to everyone and every thing, and perfectly content to just chill. Foster Mom says I have a "Fan Club! I'm eager to please, quickly learning commands like "sit," and shake. I love a little attention, but no drama here - I'm a quiet, unflappable companion. While kids are cool, they'll need to understand my quirks, like my eagerness for treats (especially apple slices!). I'd LOVE a kid with a good throwing arm as "fetch is my THING! I'm particularly fond of getting out and Foster Mom is sure to take me on walks and hikes. I tested HW positive and my procedure requires 30 days of limited activity. This gives us PLENTY of time to get to know each other better. I'll be ready for summer and we can resume longer walks. Foster pawrents say dogs like me always find their people, so I'm patiently waiting for you to come scoop me up. Follow my journey on IG at the246.fosterdogs, and when Peak sends you foster mom's number, give her a call. She's eager to chat about how I'll make the perfect addition to your family.

Story
Hi there, I'm Abby! I'm an approximately 1 year old bubbly pup who is full of love and always up for playtime. I am not spayed yet but should be soon. I've mastered the art of being a good housemate - yep, I'm house trained! I'm quite enthusiastic about mealtime, due to needing an extra few pounds, but hey, who wouldn't be? I'm still working on perfecting my manners and have been doing much better about jumping when I'm excited. I've been told I'm great with cats, having spent some fun times with some feline friends during my foster stay and haven't meet a dog I didn't like. I'm good with kids but have to be reminded to keep all 4 paws on the ground. I sleep through the night in my crate without a peep. I'm a fan of fetch, absolutely adore my chew toys and walking me is a breeze. I am heart worm positive but take my medication with a spoon of peanut butter without any hesitation. Please come meet me and find out how sweet and special I am!

Story
FOSTER NEEDED starting on 4/20 Hi! My name is Oboe. I came into the PLR family around 10-11 weeks old. My foster family immediately fell in love with me because I'm a beautiful and sweet girl! They have 2 teenage boys and 2 older (and way BIGGER) dogs that I LOVE to play with. (The black one in the pics is a PLR alum!) If my foster mom would let me, I would follow them everywhere in the house. Because I'm still potty training, I guess I need to stay tethered to her or in my crate for now. I will learn quickly though! I have not had a poop accident in the house and only 2 pee accidents. I know I will continue to get better! I love being outside! I love the grass and rolling around in it. Sometimes I try to eat the grass and the mulch so my foster family has to watch me carefully. But I love chasing after balls and sticks with my furry siblings. That's the BEST! Where I obviously still have my puppy moments, my mom thinks I have a really good temperament! I just want to please her, and I get so excited when she praises me. I even sit when offered a toy! I am a little extra excited in the mornings... I guess that's the puppy in me. But throughout the day, as long as I have frequent play times and can run a bit outside, I can be pretty chill while my family isn't paying attention to me. I play with my toys by myself at times, and I am doing better in my crate each day! I can't wait to meet you! I haven't met a stranger, and I know you will fall in love with me, too!

Story
Hello there! My name is Trumpet! Don't worry, I'm not nearly as loud as my name suggests, though I do talk when I'm feeling lonely. I'm really just a big love bug, wanting to be pet and cuddled all the time. I do great with other dogs both big and small but I haven't been introduced to cats or little humans, though I'm sure I'll love the little humans just as much as I'll love you. I do like to jump though, so maybe little humans on the bigger side would be best. I sleep in a crate at night as long as there's a blanket over it. I feel left out if I can see others around me when I'm crated up. I love the water. My foster mom has this great mud puddle in the back yard, and every time I'm out there I just have to jump in and splash around. I'd love having my own little pool or going to the beach or river. Will you be my forever swim partner... I mean forever home?

Story
Beau needs a new foster beginning Sunday, 4/21 Beau is a wonderful 4-5 year old dog. He is treat motivated and so he is working on his manners. He can sit and he is learning to wait to be fed. He loves to go on walks and does very well. He is crate trained and house trained. In fact he loves his crate. He goes into it when he wants to rest. He has met other dogs while walking and has done very well with them. He also loves riding in the car. He has not met a cat or children. Beau is neutered and has recently to the vet and did an amazing job. They made sure he is up to date on all his vaccines and he received his microchip. He loves a soft bed to lay on and plenty of toys to play with. He LOVES to play ball so be sure to stock up on fun toys to play with him with! He looks forward to meeting his furever family soon!

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Do you want an active senior dog?  Boone is the dog that is perfect for you. INTERESTED IN ADOPTING BOONE? If so, please fill out our dog adoption application by copying and pasting this link in a new browser window: https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC   Boone is a beautiful, friendly Black Lab who 12 year old and 60 pounds.  Boone is such a good boy who deserves another good home. His owner had him since he was a puppy but unfortunately his owner has serious health issues and can longer care for Boone.  They loved Boone so much, they choose to give him up for adoption so he could continue to have a great life. Boone loves humans and canines.  He loves playing fetch with his humans more than playing with other dogs. He has not been around cats or children, so we are not sure how he would behavior.  Older children would probably be best.  Boone is housebroken and has great house manners, so he does not need to be crated when we are not home.  Boone has a lot of energy for an older dog.  A fenced yard would be nice to have.  But if he doesn't have a fenced yard, he would need a daily walk and some serious play time.  Bonne is leashed trained and he is very well behaved on our walks. Boone's loves to play fetch.  You should plan on purchasing a ball launcher or have a good arm!  His love of fetch knows no bounds: hot or cold, day or night, rain or shine, he's always ready to play. He loves butt scratches, ear massages and belly rubs.  He'll join you on the couch or bed or be content with his dog bed.  Boone is looking for a family to play fetch with him and love him for the sweet boy he is.  He will need a home with another dog or with a human who is home most of the time. He is not used to being totally alone. Boone has always lived with either another dog or a person who was home most of the day.  Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.    We prefer that applicants live no further than one hour from Cary NC.  Our dogs must be seen by a BFPA veterinarian is any medical care is needed prior to adoptions being finalized.  Our foster guardians deliver dogs to their new homes for adoption trials and we do home visits to finalize all adoptions.  We will consider applicants who live a bit further IF the fit is perfect for Boone. Please consider giving Boone the loving forever home that he deserves.    INTERESTED IN ADOPTING BOONE? If so, please fill out our dog adoption application by copying and pasting this link in a new browser window:  https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC   Hi! My name is Cletus and my foster family says I'm the smartest puppy they've ever met! My foster mom is a positive reinforcement dog trainer so my training started early. We're currently working on basic skills like focus, sit, down, come, and leave-it. Promoting manners and patience along the way!  I'm crate, house, and potty-trained. I sleep in my crate throughout the entire night without a peep!   I love adventure! Car rides are fine by me. What's that? You wonder if I'm friendly with strangers? You betcha! My foster family is very active so I’m used to a busy home and love it! Although I love a busy and exciting home, I'm a pretty quiet doggo with a moderate energy level. I've been known to stay content in my crate for up to 4 hours at a time.    A fenced yard would be great but isn't totally necessary! I am familiar with a doggy door already so that's a plus if you have one! Being outside is so much fun! I love bonding with my humans, playing with tons of toys, and wrestling with other doggos. I'm an all-around pretty cool pup who would love an outdoorsy companion to take me on hikes and swims at the lake! Let’s go!!   Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.    We prefer that applicantst live no further than one hour from Cary NC as our dogs must be seen by a BFPA veterinarian for all medical care prior to adoptions being finalized.  Our foster guardians deliver dogs to their new homes for adoption trials and we do home visits to finalize all adoptions. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Looking for a puppy!  Look no further since Travis could be THE one!    Travis is a fun loving handsome puppy who is looking for his forever home after being cared for by Best Friend Pet Adoption since he as only two days old.  Look at him now and read his story below.   He loves to play with his siblings and is working hard on his housebreaking skills.  He sleeps in an open crate within a puppy pen where he feels safe and comfortable.     Travis would be a great dog. He would love to live in a home with another dog and a fenced yard that they romp around in.  An active family would also be a good fit for him.  He will bring a spark of joy to any family that adopts him.      Puppies this young need to be tended to during the day and let outside often to encourage housebreaking.  If adopters are not home during the day, they will need to have a plan in place for someone to check on Travis during the day.     Travis is ready to start an adoption trial now.  Are you ready for him?     EVERY DOG HAS A STORY: Eleven puppies were turned into a local shelter when they were two days old.  They were found with no mother in sight and umbilical cords still attached. Best Friend Pet Adoption and another shelter rescued all the puppies. We took three puppies and bottle fed them.  They are now healthy,  growing quickly   and looking for their forever homes.    Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.  Travis requires an approved Best Friend Pet Adoption application before you can be considered for adoption.   Applicants must live no further than one hour from Raleigh/Cary NC. You must be willing to bring Patrick to a BFPA veterinarian in the Raleigh/ Cary area for all medical care prior to adoptions being finalized.  Adoptions are not finalized until Patrick is neutered at 5-6 months of age.   Best Friend Pet Adoption covers the cost of all medical care until he is neutered.  INTERESTED IN ADOPTING TRAVIS ? You MUST submit a Best Friend Pet Adoption application and be approved prior to being considered to adopt Kit Kat.  Here is the link to our application. https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC .    Are you looking for a new puppy this year? You should consider Kit Kat. She was born on is 12/17/23 and has been under foster care since she was born.  Her   Mom is lab mix who weighs 52 lbs.  Kit Kat weighed 21 lbs at the end of  March, so she may be larger than her Mom when fully grown.     She is fun loving puppy who is eager to explore the world. Please see her cute video!       She is housebroken. But being a puppy, she should be let outside on a regular basis.   She loves to cuddle and be around people. Kit Kat loves to get attention and be on her humans laps.  She is currently living with three large dogs and gets along fine with them.  She loves to play and run around, so a home with another dog and a fenced yard would be ideal.  Since she loves people so much, she would also do well as an only dog in an active family that is home most of the time.                  If your family is looking for a great new family member who will entertain you and bring you joy every day, Kit Kat will be the sweet girl you are looking for.  Please consider this wonderful dog to be a part of your family today!       EVERY DOG HAS A STORY: Kit Kat was born the day after Best Friend Pet Adoption admitted her pregnant momma into our rescue.
