Meet June June is an 8-year-old Chesapeake Bay Retriever whose world was turned upside down when her family moved and decided she couldn’t come along. She ended up in a high-kill shelter through no fault of her own, but she has proven to be everything you’d hope for in a gentle, older retriever.   What makes June amazing: Housebroken and never destructive Good with all animals she meets—even small children Quiet, calm, and the perfect houseguest Walks beautifully on leash and rides wonderfully in the car June is a sweetheart through and through—loyal, steady, and endlessly kind. This is 4 mo old Fletcher, listed as a retriever/lab mix that arrived on 9/21 as a stray at the Mesquite Animal Shelter. He weighs 32 pounds. If you spent any amount of time with Fletcher you would realize that this youngster has an overload of puppy energy and behavior. Just like any puppy, he needs proper training and a person or family who would invest time and effort in daily offering exercise, play, and enrichment. He is very playful and is mildly interested in toys. He’s just a boy who has places to go, people to see and things to do! He climbed up on our play equipment in the yard showing off his athletic ability! He loves treats, but needs to learn to take them more gently. He is friendly and allowed me to pet him when he slowed down. Even though I’m describing him accurately, as having a very high energy level, I also believe he has the potential to learn what is expected of him and how he can best fit into the life of his new family.

This bundle of exuberance and puppy energy is Biscuit. He is listed as a retriever/lab mix. He weighs 47 pounds and is 8 months old. On 11/6 he came into the Mesquite animal shelter because he was abandoned by his owners. Biscuit is full of vim and vigor, with your typical puppy level of energy and enthusiasm. You might say he is an “on the go” kind of guy. He walks OK on a leash. As soon as he got out to the yard, he did his business. He was so excited to run and play in the yard. He chased balls, but did not know to return them. This playful and friendly boy is not one bit timid, shy, or fearful. He does jump on you. Manners training would certainly be a good idea. He is hoping for a family who will be patient with him and give him plenty of exercise, playtime, and enrichment. He wasn’t interested in toys and my guess is that he hasn’t been given any to play with. Biscuit is so much hoping that he will have better luck with his next home in that his people will stay committed to him and will make him an integral part of their family.
