Story
Meet Bo! This handsome, budding senior came to our rescue after his elderly owner, who suffered from dementia, passed away. As his owner’s health declined, so did Bo’s care. He came to us unneutered, heartworm-positive, and with painful ear infections, but he’s finally getting the care and love he’s always deserved. Bo had spent most of his life outdoors. Though he was brought inside during bad weather, he never truly experienced the security of home or the love of a family. He arrived in the DC area in October and has settled in well to his local foster home. Having spent most of his life outdoors in rural South Carolina, his transition to our more urban area was an adjustment. The traffic, trucks, and constant activity were all new to him, but his foster dad, Bryan, has done a great job helping him build confidence in this new environment. Once Bo feels safe, his gentle, loving spirit shines through. This big-hearted, 95-pound English Lab is housetrained, crate-trained, and sleeps soundly through the night. Bo has fully embraced indoor life, soft beds, squeaky toys, and the security of home are all things he clearly appreciates now. In his prior foster home in South Carolina, he lived with another dog and two cats. He was good with the other dog in his foster home, but needed time to adjust to feline friends. He also proved to be a social boy, greeting visitors warmly, and was gentle and sweet with visiting grandkids ages 3 to 11 years old. Now on the path to better health and a brighter future, Bo is ready to find a nurturing forever home. He’s not well-suited for city living and will do best in a calm suburban or rural environment where he can truly relax and thrive. Bo deserves a loving home to live out his golden years, surrounded by kindness, comfort, and the security he’s always longed for.❤️ Apply today!
